Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here with Wilfreda Beehive coach holidays on a 3 night joint new year and 70th birthday celebration for my husband and couldn't have chosen better. I contacted the hotel prior to our stay and they very kindly gave us a superior room and put up a birthday banner which I had posted to them. My husband was very happy with this surprise and I would like to thank any of the staff involved in this. It may have seemed a small gesture on their part but it meant a lot to us. Our room was clean, warm and very nice with a massive bath and shower room. A comfortable bed and very quiet room made for wonderful sleeps while we were there. The food was incredible - I doubt you would get better in a top rate restaurant. Well done to the catering team. Must also say a big thank you to all of the staff. They are a young team of people but could give lessons to some other establishments on how to work in the hospitality business. Whatever the request, it was accommodated to the best of their ability. 10 out of 10 to all of the team for their positive, helpful, friendly attitude. Thoroughly enjoyed our live New Years eve entertainment which was an unexpected bonus, as were the canapes and the 7 course taster menu meal. Every mouthful was delicious. A very big thank you to all at the White Horse Farm Inn for making our stay and my husbands 70th such a wonderful occasion. We can highly recommend this venue and its wonderful hilltop location with spectacular views.

Warm welcome with sherry and mince pies lovely food in the evening tho standards at breakfast varied. Property tired in parts tho understand ongoing renovation planned. Actual room nice but bathroom extremely narrow and shelf above sink meant you couldn’t wash easily! Overall tho an enjoyable stay with a special mention for Stuart who was new in the job and already showing what an asset he will be to the team! Thank you

This pub is amazing, on a clear day the views can’t be beaten. In dreary late November the open fire, warm welcome and dog friendly staff are just what’s needed. We were recommended the Whitby fresh seafood linguine and it was stunning-crammed with mussels, clams, prawns in a thai style broth, couldn’t have been better. Everything on the menu looked delicious. We need to get home tomorrow, but think we might go via the white horse as their Sunday roast looks worth taking a detour for.

Despite horrendous storm and power cut they managed to provide us with an excellent meal 1 hr after our arrival. Beautifully situated in Rosedale fantastic views. We were served a Sherry on arrival and eventually tea and cakes, this was each day we stayed. Despite natures attempt to thwart our enjoyment and deliveries not arriving Gavin and his team did everything they could to make our stay a success. The food was Michelin standard and plentiful. We have been on many coach trips over the years and this overall was the best yet. Food, drink was all excellent quality! A young team but what an energetic and entusiastic bunch they are. Any problems sorted immediately and professionally. All new management and team that gel together well. Really well done Gavin,Chloe, Carl, and Liam you are a credit to the hospitality industry! We will return as the saying goes and good luck with all your plans for the future!

We experienced a horrendous stay in Whitby and the manager at the white horse farm inn was so kind and able to provide us with a room and breakfast as our last night for our family break. We arrived to meet a lovely chap where nothing was too much we understand that he had not been in post long and was obviously trying his best to improve the offering/upgrade the facilities including interior decoration whilst being short staffed at the time we stayed. He made sure we had a very enjoyable stay the food was great and we can’t wait to come back once the planned improvements are complete! The property benefits from stunning views and great location

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived, the room was very small but clean. Unfortunately we found the whole place very cold, heating was rarely put on, we were however provided with a heater for our room. They clearly had a problem with the fire alarm which went off at 7.30 on our 1st morning and a couple of other times, when there was no fire. Housekeeping was none-existent, our tea tray was not replenished any time during our stay and 1 day we had to ask 3 times for milk before we were given any, also the bin was not emptied during our stay. There was a good selection on the hot food counter for breakfast but the plates were stone cold so it didn't stay hot for long. Also no mattress protectors on our bed, these are a must.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our recent stay and felt was not worth anywhere near the high price we paid. Firstly we were shown to our room which hadn't been cleaned after the last guests. When we advised the manager luckily he did manage to find us another room though. The website says lunch and dinner are served daily however we stayed on a Sunday and we were informed that they serve a carvery starting at 12 until its gone. As we wanted an evening meal we were concerned whether there would be any left and how fresh it would be. We spoke to the manager on the phone beforehand and he promised there would be some fresh when we arrived however this was most definitely not the case. The food was tasty however it had been sat there for a number of hours and was a long way past its best. The following morning we had the same issue with the breakfast which had been sat for a long time too and had dried out. To add to this, we were told that there was no one to serve us and would have to do it ourselves. We were also told there was no one to check us out and just to leave the key and shut the door on your way out. There were a number of other issues too which overall has led us to feel that the stay was extremely poor value for money.

Thank you for your review! I can only apologise for the issues that you experienced during your recent stay with ourselves. On a Sunday we do only serve Carvery and food is replenished every hour as a maximum ( or quicker) depending on how busy the service is. We will take the remainder of your comments on board and provide additional training and action where required. We do hope that you will join us again!

We stayed there for 4 days. The dining room was freezing cold we had to wait an hour for our food and then after 9 o'clock for our pudding and people were leaving already. Why was the manager of the farm not doing his job properly he knew there was no chef for breakfast for the rest of the stay we had to go elsewhere for breakfast meet up everyday at 9 o'clock it spoilt our stay as we could not go out for the day straight away so it made it 10 30 to 10 45 before we got started. What a stay we will never forget
