When you want somewhere to come , relax and have a good time in this area this the place to come. We had a couple of days to spare and immediately thought of here it’s all you need.
This place is dog friendly and these rooms have an outdoor space enclosed that you can sit outside and let the dogs play
The rooms are all very clean and comfortable with a sofa and fridge and nice bed and WiFi is available
Breakfast in the morning is especially good well cooked using good produce they use the system of pre ordering which is no problem at all. The breakfast room is very spacious and they sanitise everything after use and the server had a mask on for anybody worrying about these things
There is a big play area for kids enough to keep them quiet for a while and also there is animals to see on a walk round from goats , hens ,alpacas ,rabbits etc
Overall a very peaceful place , clean and a good breakfast
Suitable for families and people in a wheelchair

We booked one nights stay, because we were attending Matthewsons auction the following day. We weren't expecting much, but didn't mind as we just needed a bed.
However, upon our arrival, we quickly realised we had found a real gem. The owner Steve was very welcoming and personally showed us to our 'room', which he had upgraded to a log cabin. We were obviously delighted. The accomodation was very clean, cosy and super warm, which was great on a freezing cold evening. Everything you needed was provided, including a fantastic shower with an endless supply of piping hit water. We had Arthur, our German Wirehaired Pointer with us and, unusually, we were directed to one of the owners fields where he could have a good run. This is a holiday destination not a working farm. However the alpacas and horses were very friendly. I cannot recommend this venue enough.

There are few places that manage to cater for families with children and couples that want a quiet, relaxing break. But Barker Stakes Farm has managed to design a concept that works for both. The Farm consists of B&B room, arranged around a courtyard and a number of self catering lodges carefully placed within the surrounding farmland. In the middle are enclosures with ponies, alpacas, rabbits and hens and at both extremities are children's play areas. The positioning of the lodges ensures privacy and all have views over the beautiful countryside.
The accommodation is high quality and well thought out, with sockets near desks and mirrors, hooks on the doors and coat hooks in the room. Most rooms have a private deck, as do all lodges, several with hot tubs. The bedding is cotton and good quality. On our return I immediately bought Egyptian cotton sheets as their sheets felts so wonderful.
Breakfast was delicious, though there was not a great deal of choice. The lodges are self catering but some have breakfast, either in their room/lodge or in the vast garden room/conservatory, a lovely space.
I thoroughly recommend this venue - we'll definitely be back.

We stayed at the end of July with 2 children aged 8 & 5, in a 2 bedroom lodge (riverside silver) which was great, it had everything that we needed & more for a 3 night stay including some tea, coffee, sugar & biscuits in a small basket. We had a large decked area overlooking the fishing lake and at the side of us we had a huge grassed area with football goals.

We decided to stay again at the end of August for 4 nights and upgraded to a lodge with a hot tub overlooking the paddock. This lodge was more modern & the bedrooms were bigger with an ensuite in the master bedroom. We didn't have a welcome pack this time & hadn't brought tea & sugar but that was our fault for assuming.

We had a quiet location on the already quiet & peaceful site. The hot tub was amazing, really easy to use and we were lucky to have good weather so we could use it a lot, however, just a suggestion would be to have something that could be put over the top of it so if it did rain then you could still use it.

On our first day I emailed the owner regarding a couple of issues, he responded very quickly & by the time we had returned from our day out he had sorted it out, we were very impressed with his speed to address the issues, what a star he is!!

Barker Stakes Farm is quiet and peaceful, there are 2 children's play areas to use, animals to look at and the whole place feels safe, although we haven't experienced the B&B, we would recommend staying at Barker Stakes Farm and will return ourselves.

Thank you to all who made my stay so enjoyable, the breakfast was delicious especially the local butchers Cumberland sausages and bacon. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was small but perfectly comfortable and I had very good nights sleep, it has everything that you would need TV, towels, tea coffee biscuits etc. (but bring your own shampoo etc.)

I'm very much looking forward to another stay and hope that we can keep each other safe so that this wonderful family business can keep going.

Very Covid secure with safety and cleanliness utmost.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August, a family of 4, on the B & B side. We received a friendly welcome from Steve and felt right at home. The family room we had was spacious with a separate room for the kids, the bed was comfortable, there was tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and nice little terrace to sit out on. The farm is sizable and perfectly set up for families it has several large green areas, one with football nets, a couple of different playground areas, a sheltered outdoor games area with a pool table, table football and table tennis and various different animals for the kids to look at. The only little touches that were missing, may have been done previously and taken advantage of so discontinued, are no shampoo or shower gel and no cold water in the fridge on arrival. This would not put us off staying again, we may try a lodge with hot tub next time, as it is only a five minute drive to Lidl or the Co-Op (25/30 mins walk on a straight road) in the centre of Pickering. The location makes it an ideal base for trips out or just a couple of quiet lazy days away. The breakfast you get on the B & B side is superb and plentyful and the owners are incredibly hard working and can't do enough for you. Thanks again.

We have just returned from the most amazing week staying in the Parkside lodge ( 2 adults and 2 children). The lodge was equipped with everything we needed and more. We couldn't have asked for a better location to explore the local area and if the truth be told everyday we were out exploring all we got asked was when are we going back to the lodge as all the kids wanted to do was play at the playpark and see the animals. the farm and grounds are kept in immaculate condition by the owners and its easy to see they take great pride in the upkeep of the property. We will 100% be returning in the future.

We had holidayed in Pickering at the for about 19 years. Unfortunately, after a change of ownership, our usual venue no longer met our needs. We searched for places that allowed dogs and fell within our price range which was not easy. The lodge which we stayed in had excellent facilities and overlooked a large pool full of water lilies and bull rushes. The owners /staff were excellent. In short this place is highly recommended and I would not hesitate to return another year
