My last visit was after it had been taken over but before the latest changes. I could see even then what was coming, they were short staffed and nobody seemed to be managing anything at breakfast. And now.....well it is considerably worse. In a lot of pubs you have to order at the bar etc and can still pay inflated prices but the Midland had it just right before. It is such a shame that it has changed, my very first visit years ago was a one-off but I was so amazed at the hospitality that I returned again and again. I guess now moving forwards it will be a different clientele, guests who won't miss what they never had. I won't be returning now, the uniqueness has gone. I won't even be returning to Morecambe as the Midland was the only reason I went and I suspect the same was for a lot of people.

Not what I expected. We stayed here sone years ago and were really looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately whilst the hotel is unique with an authentic art deco feel, the dining experience was more brewers fayre than 4 star experience. What a shame! The food was mediocre and you had to order at the bar, so dispointing.

It's a lovely friendly location that has some signs of wear around the edges, really good fish and chips even by Morecambe's high standards, full English breakfast done proper. Big rooms, everything you need. Staring at the sea, snuggled up in a booth in the Rotunda bar, living the dream, best couple of days off I've had in years.

It’s when the first word you hear, from the otherwise exemplary, but massively overworked staff is: ‘Unfortunately’, that the alarm bells should ring very loud. Unfortunately you cannot reserve a table for dinner Unfortunately you must order your food at the bar* Unfortunately we don’t have tablecloths and cotton napkins anymore, nor fresh flowers on your table Unfortunately you now have a Pub Menu, and Unfortunately you’re going to have to pay £20 just for a burger (!) Unfortunately you can’t pay for your meal at the end, but must pay course-by-course Unfortunately you must carry your wine and glasses from the bar to your table yourself Unfortunately you must make your own tea or coffee at breakfast Unfortunately we don’t provide teapots Unfortunately we only provide breakfast juice from concentrate Unfortunately you’ll make a dozen trips to the breakfast buffet to provide your own breakfast, because ‘Unfortunately’ there are no trays. And. So. On. * Only two hardworking staff to serve all drinks, and take food orders in the evening too. Took me 15 minutes to order a drink. I timed it. Grossly understaffed. Grossly unfair on the staff. A once magnificent, elegant hotel, ruined by a Pub chain (who’d have thought it?!). Unless and until they restore staffing levels, food quality, ambience and style, we will not be returning. Stay away. Stay far, far away.

Called in here for lunch, very disappointed, six chips with the hand eggs, eggs undercooked and ham incredibly salty. Not at all worth the £20 per head bill. Still, the view over the bay was nice, as was the entertainment watching a member of staff wiping the tables without moving the condiments which were surrounded by crumbs. Is nobody trained anymore?

We stayed for one night on Easter Sunday. We had a sea view room with a balcony on the first floor. We paid £189 this included breakfast. We tried to call the hotel on several occasions to see if we could check in any earlier. We could not get through so decided to email. (No response) check in was rather poor, were told our room was not ready and asked if we had paid for an early check in! We were informed that check in was 3pm but would ring us should the room be ready any earlier. They did ring around 2 to inform us it was ready. The room was old fashioned and in great need of a refurb. The balcony was small and dirty along with the doors they were filthy too. Breakfast….. arrived cold so we took this back, they brought another one which again was cold. An over cooked fried egg with egg shell on the plate. This breakfast was the worst breakfast I could not even attempt to eat it. The food on this occasion fell way below my expectations and unfortunately will not be returning to this hotel. We spoke to one of the managers and she apologised giving us a refund of £24 for 2 breakfasts.

We went in for lunch today and, I am sad to say, the Midland is a shadow of its former self, food-wise. Despite the beautiful surroundings, the experience is now that of a cheap cafe, although the prices remain astronomical. We paid £12 each for ' luxury' cheese on toast, only to be served with cheap white sliced bread ( barely toasted) with low-quality cheese, anaemic fries and no salad or garnish, despite the menu promising rocket salad. We certainly won't be back.

First visit with daughter and family for a short two night break since the new owners. Much remains similar with the staff being excellent and keen to please, although clearly not as many staff on duty and they were times when they came under significant pressure with queues building to order drinks and food. The food was generally excellent, although the move to a more casual pub dining experience without the finery of tablecloths was a real disappointment and not in keeping with The Midland previous experience. A real concern is that The Midland turns into just another 'run of the mill', seaside front pub losing the uniqueness of a truly stunning hotel. Special mention to Corey, who went the extra mile on several occasions arranging high chairs and ensuring everything was spot on with our meals. We enjoyed our stay but left feeling saddened by the changes made.

We had a very comfortable night and the dining was good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is an iconic building in Morcambe and its restoration was great. Unfortunately it s showing signs of a need for further work and repair. The water damage and leaks are very noticeable, outside the wonderful panoramic windows the screeding it looking very worn and the paintwork in general is not quite as fresh as it might be. Having said all that it is well worth visiting just for the views across the bay. On a light note I think you could have chosen a mor3 appropriate word than sprawling on your pamphlet to describe it!

We have stayed at the Midland several times over the years and have always been impressed by its ambience, location and overall standards of customer service . I am relieved that the quality food along with friendly and welcoming staff remain . . Sad to report however that the restaurant standard has now sadly lapsed to that of a pub rather than a restaurant. Table service is no more and you have to queue at the bar to order food . Linen table cloths and napkins have been consigned to history and it’s self service for water at the table . The background music is too loud and inappropriate for a restaurant setting . The Midlands no longer stands out as a flag ship hotel in Morecambe. This is so sad and does not do justice to such an iconic building with such an important heritage.
