Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked a twin room for myself and son, on arrival we found we had been given a double bed, 30 year old son!! Phoned the owner/manager straight away who gave us another double room so we had one each, nothing was too much trouble we had phoned him whilst he was at a wedding and he was so understanding, rooms were so nice and clean, you could smell that the bed sheets etc had been laundered, very comfy beds, nice to have a sofa in the room for watching the television... Only complaint was it was very noisy with doors being slammed shut, but other than that I couldn't fault my stay there, I'd definitely stay again... Photos are of both rooms

Actually a very nice hotel considering how reasonably priced it is. Very clean and tidy. Pretty much faultless. Got an upgraded room on arrival which was a nice touch. Stayed in one of
The upper rooms with a fridge in. Very comfortable bed as well. Would definitely come back if ever in town. Opposite the naval club as well who were more than happy to have me in there for a couple of hours for cheap drink

There is no breakfast option currently due to Covid but it’s close enough to York road where there are plenty of eateries.

We were invited to this hotel for a family wedding. We decided to book a room for convenience.
Lucy on the reception was so pleasant and very very helpful and friendly.
The room was very clean and the staff were all very helpful.
At the wedding the food was lovely well presented and hot, also the buffet at night there was plenty to feed everyone.
Breakfast was basic but again cooked lovely and warm.
We will definitely return here again.

To start with nobody on reception or in the hotel at all, need to ring a number stuck to the front door to get the access code and informed of what room you are in, the key to the room is inside.
Parking - can only park on the street for an hour between the hours of 8am and 8pm although the man on the phone at the hotel says its ok to park there from 5pm. There is very limited parking in the area but you can use the NHS car park across the road from the hotel. From 6pm to 8am it is free, the rest of the time there are fees and you can only stay there for a maximum of 5 hours so no good if you want to leave the car for the day.
Parking permits seem to be limited as when I enquired I was told that they were all given out yesterday, so I didn't get one so don't rely on the fact that they are available.
I did not have any towels in my room only a bath mat, when I rang (after 6pm) and asked for some I was told that they were waiting for a delivery, so I had to go out and buy some. When I spoke to the hotel after my return the man said he told me he was waiting for a delivery and its the nature of the hotel trade that these things happen, he then confirmed that the towels arrived later the day I had asked for them, but I still did not receive any towels.
The bathroom had black on the silicone around the bath and the toilet had a macerator which was very noisy when in use.
I stayed 1 night out of the 4 nights I had booked and found somewhere else for the rest of my stay, I would not have stayed the first night but there were no vacancies anywhere else in the town.
Breakfast was supposed to be available, I never saw this and the room that was near the entrance was full of clutter so although I had been informed this was available (before my trip started) it clearly wasn't as there was no staff on duty or around the hotel.
On my return looked at getting a refund for the 3 nights that I didn't stay and spoke to someone who basically argued that I could have parked on the street as you can from 5pm even though it states 8pm, and he said I told you the situation about the towels and when I asked if it was acceptable to offer a room without towels he just said you booked with bookings.com take it up with them if you want a refund. There was no apology for any inconvenience etc just a very rude man!

Since the owner has had time to get back to booking.com and hasn’t also not had anything from them since I can only assume he isn’t bothered.
Myself and my partner booked double room and owner looked at us funny and asked if we would like a twin room. Obviously not in 2021 anymore obviously doesn’t approve of gay people. Well I don’t approve of this hotel so there ya go.
Got to our room, lock doesn’t work spent about 15 mins trying to lock ourselves in the room thinking not staying here if we can’t be safe. Goes down to speak to him and he says it doesn’t open from the front that’s why. Why couldn’t he not just say that still didn’t feel safe not being able to physically lock it.
Next paid for superior suite TV had no signal spoke to him and he fixed it for us returning later that evening. Worked for 20 mins and then went off so couldn’t watch TV when we returned to relax. Asked about breakfast was told you could add it on went downstairs to ask about adding it on cleaner said oh manager hasn’t turned in yet so no breakfast on at all today nothing offered to takeaway or anything. I asked when he was comming in as the shower doesn’t work no hot water and I was going to a wedding and was told could be anytime . Cleaner came up just at 10pm to say I could use a different room to shower was too late by then as check out was 10:30.

Just awful would advise everyone never to stay here
No attempt to out this right shocking

Stayed at this hotel a couple of times in the past.great location to get to the place I wanted to be.
First the television that was supposed to be on the wall was on the floor not working with all the brackets and screws scattered around it.dirty carpet holes in the wall no attempt to repair or repaint.
No towels in room
No water pressure for hot water(couldn't have a shower)
No soap in bathroom
Stinking bag of rubbish left in hall way
No breakfast available even though its billed as a bed and breakfast.
No toilet seat on toilet.no attempt to replace broken parts still bolted to the toilet bowl
Won't be back again.

I chose this hotel because the website said that there were parking facilities, breakfast was available at a small additional cost, there was a bar, the rooms were sanitised and there was a hairdryer.
The parking facilities were in a pay and display car park by the Health Centre, and breakfast has not been available since before covid.
There is a bar, it just never opened during my stay. I asked for a hairdryer as there wasn't one in my room and was presented with one that was so sticky I had to clean it before I could use it.
My broken shower was fixed on day two of my stay but the light bulbs were not replaced, leaving me with a very dim room in the evenings. I did ask, but apparently they are not available in Hartlepool!
The toilet hadn't been flushed since the last person used it and there was rubbish in the bathroom bin, so I didn't feel that the room had been sanitised.
I did complain and ask for a refund as things were not as described. I was told that I couldn't have a refund but I could have a different room if I wished. As moving room would not resolve the parking and breakfast issues I declined as I did not want to repack and then unpack again.

We arrived no one to check us in a man wondered off the street told us to sit in the unopened bar/restaurant while he figured what room we were staying.

Eventually got in our unhoovered room ( food and cigarette ash everywhere)

Didn’t use the bath or shower as shower head was black with mould.

Toilet wasn’t screwed to system or the floor so was a balancing act not to tip it over.

Free toiletries 1 soap 1 hand cream (never used)

Desk draws had been used as ash trays. (Non smoking room)

Skirting boards

Out the window was cigarette butts and a lovely view of a busy road and an abandoned church

Was an adjoining room which was sealed off with toilet roll

Spent as little time in the room as possible as didn’t feel safe

No one around at check out you just hung your keys on a numbered board

The hotel is not as presented. When I arrived at our work site and spoke to colleagues they straight away informed me that the hotel was being used as a Halfway House. When I arrived at the hotel, there was no one on reception, the door was locked and I had to ring a mobile number to get the keycode to enter and get my room number. At this point I was getting alarm bells. The room was on the 2nd floor and was run down, not like you see in the photos on the web. The key was on the bed which had limited bedding - no proper duvet or blankets. The electric shower was in a poor state and did not work. There was also a fire escape stairway outside the back window so anybody could walk up to the window. I did not feel safe at all and tried to book into another hotel but had to stay one night. I was supposed to be there two nights but managed to get a room in the Premier Inn, where I have stayed before, for the second night so picked up my bag as soon as I could and left. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.
