The staff at this hotel are amazing. Nothing was to much trouble and the service was first class. Breakfasts were great. We only had on meal here but it was amazing. The scotch egg starter is fabulous and famous apparently. Calum was our waiter for that night and he was very attentive but not in our face which was appreciated. Mandy checked us in and was brilliant throughout our stay, getting anything we needed. Pamela checked us out and was very kind and understanding about our early departure due to isudden ill health. The view from our room was fabulous and the room was very clean. Please judge as you find. Some of the reviews on here are so unfair. We are still living in a pandemic and all the challenges that brings. Well done to the team at The Salty Dog.

Room was small and basic but very clean. We decided to eat in the hotel and unfortunately was left disappointed. The food was just ok but definitely not worth the money. The service was very slow and i had to keep going up and down to ask for cutlery, salt&pepper and more drinks. I asked for a dessert menu then waited 15minutes before going and finding someone to take my order. Breakfast was nice and fresh the homemade marmalade was beautiful but again service really slow and the waitress that brought the tea over she spilt it over the table and didn’t even clean it up just walked away after 10 minutes i had to ask for milk for my tea. Unfortunately don’t think i would go back.

Awful meal. Steak like rubber. Served with hp like brown sauce and awful slow service. Staff did not listen to a word you say. Also Waited 30minutes to receive our bill. Will not be back. Worst ever experienced

Interesting visit to a regular haunt where we spend a little time over the weekend. Generally the service can be slow but we always put that down to it being busy but I do take umbridge when drinks are served with half measures...at the full price... and then the staff really aren't interested, so from a regular we will become irregular visitors. Shame as they lose out as they get poor reviews like this. The general rule is that the customer comes first and not really an irrelevance to your day.Short measures should not be tolerated and when pointed out should be viewed more than merely an inconvenience for the customer.

We go to the Salty Dog very regularly for a drink. Today I ordered my usual prosecco and the glass came bearly half full! The young waiter seemed very rushed so stupidly I said nothing ...in fact I wasn't sure if maybe the glass was bigger!! However it was finished so quickly my husband ordered a second glass....this came full to the brim, cold and bubbly with a raspberry in it...as it should be!! I remarked to the waitress about the other glass and she said she'd mention it. When we paid the bill she told me as no one had seen the other glass nothing could be done...but she told me she believed me...in other words no one else did! As a regular for at least 15years there's no way I would be making it up for the sake of half a glass of prosecco!!!! Very poor customer service and very disappointing as regulars!!!!
