The Clandeboye Lodge is out on its own. We do things differently. We’re all about people. We look after you. Properly. Our staff make the moment. Friendly, attentive, always happy to talk and advise, come and go, serve and smile. You’ll feel at home. We know it. When it comes to detail, we do it right. And, as we all know, the difference is in the detail. We’re out on our own. We like it that way. You will too. Coq and Bull. An unusual restaurant we think. Everyone seems at home. The old hand and young buck. Connoisseur and trencherman. The quiet diners and the in-with-a-crowders. Good, honest food. Taste is king and local rules. Wine, if not exactly compulsory, encouraged. And anyway, life’s too short not to. Don’t get us wrong. We love Belfast. It’s a city that is coming into its own. But why not stay out here with us? It’s not far. Then, when you do want to chill, you’re right here. A walk on the shore. A wander in the woods. A stroll through history.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an unexpected weekend off as a family and decided to book our favourite hotel as a treat after a tough few months. From check in to check out everything was perfect. Reception team recognised us from previous visit which was so nice, check in a quick and friendly! We went to our room which clean and welcoming! We ate Dinner in the Coq & Bull which was delicious and service was friendly yet professional, again the staff recognised us and welcomed us back! After a peaceful night sleep we had our breakfast which was fresh and delicious again! Honestly the hotel and Brasserie are hidden gems! Looking forward to a return visit soon!!!

We attended a wedding (our niece) and the venue was beautiful. We had travelled from Australia and this was the perfect place to stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and the food was delicious.

We had a terrible stay at this hotel. We booked the tranquil package that promised a free-standing bath, but we got a standard room with a tiny bath and a bag of bath products. When we complained, they said the room we wanted was occupied and moved us to a so-called luxury room with the same bath. It was supposed to be a romantic getaway, but we felt cheated. The only difference in the luxury room was a big bed, some old fruit on a plate, and an espresso machine with no milk or tea. There was no plug near the bed to charge our devices. We contacted the hotel to complain when we got home, but they said we should have checked the pictures of the room before booking. The pictures were hidden on the website, and there was no mention of this in the terms and conditions. We had stayed here before the pandemic and enjoyed the food, but it wasn't enjoyable this time. The food was greasy and left a bad taste in our mouths. The dessert was inedible and smelled like perfume. The only good thing about the hotel was the friendly waitress who served us. She was cheerful and helpful. We felt like we wasted our money and time at this hotel. We will never come back here. It is a shame because we used to like this hotel before the pandemic. They should be honest and clear about their offer instead of disappointing their customers.

Completely awful stay, booked the tranquil package showing the free standing bath, when we arrived we were given a standard room with a small standard bath and a bag with voya bath experience in it. When my husband complained they said the room with the free standing bath was taken they upgraded us to an apparently luxury room with the same bath, this was meant to be a romantic night away we felt scammed. Luxury appears to be a big bed, 3 dead looking apples and 1 pear sitting on a slate which looks as if they’ve been there all week and an expresso machine with pods but no milk or tea not even a wee biscuit or a mint. Not even a bedside plug to charge your phone or watch. When we came home my husband put in a complaint about being ripped off and we were told that you see what you’re getting in the booking section. You will only see this if you scroll through pictures of the room and at no point can you read this not even in the terms and conditions. Having stayed a few times before covid I was looking forward to the stay and meal, this was awful I dont know if the chef has changed but it wasn’t good at all very oily leaving a film of grease in your mouth both dinner and breakfast. The desert was awful tasted like perfume. The one thing going for the hotel was the lovely lady who served us, she was bright bubbly and more than welcoming. After feeling we were robbed and the awful food I can definitely say I won’t be back. It’s a shame as before covid I really liked this hotel. In my opinion it’s not clearly advertised, which left us feeling disappointed.

Great hotel, room was very clean and comfortable. Lovely food in the restaurant with good vegetarian options available. Very friendly and helpful staff. The TV wasn't networked so not able to access streaming. Look forward to staying there again

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Friendly staff. Very clean room. Outstanding food. Warm and friendly throughout. I would like to thank Sarah at reception for her help checking in. She was super polite and friendly. Great at her job. Nice touch in leaving me a Happy Birthday card in our room with nice chocolates. Restaurant staff were very helpful and knew their stuff. Bar staff were excellent and very attentive. Nice outside space to have a drink with plenty of heaters. Nice wake up call 30 minutes before breakfast with ×2 orange juice delivered to our room. Very modern room with an excellent shower. Hairdryer and iron both supplied. We will return here no bother. Can't wait

The hotel was excellent. The room, the restaurant, the bar and ultimately the staff, all friendly and professional. Location is perfect as it's less than 30mins from Belfast City Airport. I would like to mention the fantastic service we received at the Northern Ireland Conservative party conference dinner. It was a pleasure to be served in the professional manner known as "Silver Service" a method that many top 5Star hotels are incompetent at providing. In fact avoid providing. My compliments to the Food & Beverage/Conference Team as well as the hotels management, you should be very proud! The food was equally delicious and served on actual hot plates.

We had a wonderful time. The staff could not have been more helpful in making our event relaxed and enjoyable for us and our guests. Each of our guests has commented about the event and the venue in glowing terms. Our stay at the hotel (apart from having to move rooms because of a faulty lock - a minor inconvenience!) was very comfortable. Thank you all.

Overnight stay in a fabulous and very luxurious room, with an amazing shower. Evening meal was delicious, with steak cooked to perfection. Breakfast was equally delicious, their wheaten is gorgeous. Staff were so polite, helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
