Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely to be back at this fantastic family-run small country house hotel. The service and food provided by Wendy and Katrina was superb again. The house was cosy warm, clean and so comfortable. We shall definitely stay again at this gem of a place. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and the warmth of your welcome.

Over the summer, I was hiking Hadrian's Wall with friends, and this was by far my favorite place we stayed! It felt like we had been transported into a perfect wonderland! I would recommend this place to everyone!!

Stayed for 2 nights in a twin room while completing a stretch of Hadrians wall. Originally Carlisle to Newtown but Wendy offered to pick us up from Walton as main road from Newtown was too dangerous to walk. This hotel is amazing. A step back in time with everything you could ask for. There was a boot polish box, sewing kit, toothbrush, flannel etc, too many things to remember. All you would need is a change of clothes. Beds were super comfy and pillows ideal. Menu was to die for, the choice omg where to start. Food was exceptional, no trouble for Wendy for picky eaters, she went above and beyond to meet our requirements. Excellent. Even though this hotel is not on the wall walk (2.5 mile out) Wendy was prepared to pick us up and drop us off the next day. Would highly recommend.

This is such an elegant, charming and welcoming house. The room we had was large, tastefully furnished, with a very comfortable bed and a few treats provided. The lounge is relaxing and the bar a nice surprise. Our breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice. A bonus is the optional provision of an evening meal. The menu is extensive and caters for all tastes. Our only regret is that we stayed for just three nights, a week would have been better. There is plenty to see in the local area, not least Hadrians Wall. Wendy and her daughter are great hosts.

Oakwood Park Hotel...not a castle but more of a manor I think. Nice decor but a bit faded. Very large room for me alone with a huge bathroom. Everything was provided, tea, coffee, cocoa, soaps and shaving equipment. Big bed, but the room was so big that I actually slept badly. Dinner was....not bad. Lamb steak ? of old sheep I think. My friends chicken was also fairly mini. If you have walked 25 km you need something solid. The potatoes and vegetables was actually enough for two but was for four. Well, nobody comes to ask if you want anything else. The breakfast was reasonable but a few extra toasts and jam would have been better. But even then, no one comes to ask if you want anything else. The packed lunch was OK.

This is a lovely house with the most welcoming hosts. An extensive menu (especially good for vegetarians) and fantastic packed lunch available to buy, which includes great homemade items. Highly recommend!

Lovely grand house to rest at end of day walking Hadrians Wall. Is out of town so little isolated and leaves you to enjoy all meals onsite in the remoteness. Dinner menu is extensive with request asked to pre order by 530pm to help kitchen preparations. Is served in lovely room which doubles for breakfast. Bedroom was spacious bathroom exceptionally small and issue with water heating requiring work arounds. Liked touched of tea coffee in room and sparkling water welcome after day walking. Would recommend.

Oh my! What a beautiful place! I felt like I was in one of my favorite bbc shows. The building itself is lovingly restored and filled with fabulous antiques. The rooms are cozy and ours looked out over a pasture of sheep and horses with the occasional duck. Truly a highlight of our visit to England. Oh and the food is delicious and the hotels gracious!!

A handsome country house set in it's own grounds on the outskirts of Brampton. The hospitality and service provided by Wendy and her daughter Katrina was superb throughout our stay. The house has so much character and the guest areas on the ground floor (lounge, bar, dining room and hallway) are so comfortable and interesting. Our bedroom was warm, clean and well equipped with many thoughtful touches. The breakfast options were many and the traditional English breakfast was first-class. We won't hesitate to stay here again and recommend to others.
