Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Once again, another faultless stay at The Greenhead. Right from the helpful and friendly check-in, the comfortable and clean room, the beautifully prepared and delicious food to the seamless check-out after a delicious Northumbrian Breakfast, everything was perfect. A massive thank you to everyone who worked so hard, during this busy weekend, to make our stay so comfortable. We are already looking forward to visiting again, very soon.

WOW! What a beautiful, warm and cosy boutique hotel. We booked this last minute for an Easter weekend with our two fur babies, and the hotel and staff did not disappoint. The room Was fab very roomy, food was superb, great location and amazing staff. Will definitely be back. Thanks so much to Elise, Jordan and Lindsay for looking after us so well … don’t think twice about booking before it gets booked up !

This is a very high quality establishment, my wife and I visited before just for food and were blown away by it. We decided on a last minute break . The food is excellent. The staff are on the ball and very professional. The rooms incredibly comfortable, clean and warm. Can’t think of a single criticism. Excellent. Breakfast is served by a smiling lady and tastes delicious!!! Nick and Ally.

Wow! Just wow! My husband and I visited The Greenhead Hotel on Valentines Day for an evening meal. We’ve only heard great things about the venue so thought it would be a great place to try. From the moment you arrive the service is fantastic. Very attentive, friendly and fast! The food however, another level. The word exceptional does not even begin to describe just how delicious our meals were. Not just one course but all three courses, for both my husband and myself. We both ordered different things and each of us were convinced the other’s food tasted better. The fact of the matter was, absolutely everything was incredibly delicious! Even the side dishes! Not only the taste but the attention to detail. My husband and I have eaten at a lot of very good restaurants around the world and this venue has made it to now being one of our favourites. I cannot recommend this venue enough! How this venue doesn’t have a Michelin status is hard to believe, it truly deserves it! We cannot wait to go back!

Just got back from a four night DBB deal at this hotel which was excellent value for money! There are so many great things to say about this hotel. The food is delicious and the restaurant is worthy of its AA rosette. The bar area is cosy and snug with the log burners, a good selection of wines and the service is excellent. Our room was clean, warm and cosy and the shower was lovely and hot. Perfect for warming up after a cold and wet October’s day. The hotel was really organised and they always took on board our requests if we needed to change the time of our table for dinner! It’s well placed for a variety of trips to Hadrian’s Wall and the surrounding area. My final comment has to be the lovely people who run this hotel. Everyone we met, from the lady who checked us in to the bar staff and the waitresses were absolutely lovely. Chatting to the lady who looked after everyone at breakfast (I’m sorry I didn’t got your name) was a joy! Such a lovely, jolly and friendly person to see first thing in the morning! Thanks for a great holiday.

We recently stayed for a 4 night break on a DBB deal having searched on line for a dog friendly hotel. First impressions were very good, the reception was welcoming and although, as to be expected, nobody was awaiting our arrival as we were early (!) It was clear that there would be a member of staff in the bar/dining area. Having booked in and advised where the room was, we found said room. The room was spacious and clean, with a front view. The en-suite was clean and had the usual facilities. We got the impression that each room would be individually themed. Not a corporate style. More than comfortable and we had 4 good night sleeps. The hotel was very dog friendly and the room did not smell , as some can of dogs. The management and staff must take cleaning very seriously. One of the many nice touches for dog owners was the plentiful supply of clean towels for drying off wet dogs after being out for the day. The bar area allowed dogs to be with their owners for meals, but rightfully the restaurant was off limits. The meals were first rate restaurant quality. Whether it was a rib-eye steak or a cauliflower steak the food was impeccable in taste/quality and the service was not shabby! A good range of beers and wines was also available. This hotel clearly prides it self on providing a high quality experience. I would have no reservations in recommending The Greenhead Hotel, and look forward to revisiting next spring.

We stopped for a fantastic, early supper following a blustery dog walk locally. Great value - the service was excellent, the food superb and our two dogs loved to rest by the roaring fire. Highly recommend as we head into winter.
