Scotch Arms Mews is a family ran accommodation venue, offering itself as a Bed & Breakfast or to rent as an entire Holiday home on a self catering basis in Brampton, Cumbria. We have 7 lovely rooms offering a mix of single, double and twin occupancy sleeping up to 14 guests. All our rooms have ensuite bathrooms, comfy beds, TV’s plus free fibre optic wifi throughout. Downstairs we have relaxing lounge area with a log burner, where our guests can relax for the evening and view our one of a kind historic well in the middle of our lounge. It was discovered during our extensive renovations of the building in 2013, plus an ancient salt oven, which was very, very rare in past times. There is complimentary private on site parking, wifi throughout, safe cycle storage and access to laundry facilities if required.

We are an ideal accommodation provider for walkers and cyclist heading along Hadrians Wall and the Hadrian Cycleway. With a relaxed overnight stay, drying facilities, cycles safely stored in the garage and a freshly prepared breakfast to set you on your way again. We offer packed lunches and breakfast bags to go for our early starters.

The Scotch Arms Mews is only a few moments walk from the fantastic array of independently owned shops, Cranstons Food Hall, a Post Office, pubs, restaurants and cafes and don't forget the antique shops. Why not head up to Talkin Tarn Country Park for a walk around the glacial lake and a coffee in the tea room or try your hand at fishing on the pond at New Mills Trout Fishing Farm which you will find 5 minutes along the road. Further a field you will find Carlisle's Historic Quarter with the Castle, Cathedral and the award winning Tullie House Museum. We also benefit from being located between two World Heritage Sites, Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District plus the Scottish Border is only a stones throw away.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We all had a fantastic long weekend at the Scotch Arms Mews, it was like having our own pub. As a group of 14, we spent most of our time in the bar area with the fire lit and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped, there was a huge dining room and the bedrooms were all lovely and comfy. The location was also great for us, right in the centre of Brampton for shops, food and pubs and also within easy reach of Hadrian’s Wall. The only slight downside was the road is quite busy and is a bit noisy but earplugs are provided. Would definitely love to stay again, thank you Dianne.

Beautiful place, central for touring North Cumbria, Hadrians Wall, Gretna Green, Carlisle and the northern Lake District. This is our second visit hiring the whole place for a week with 3 generations of our family. You have your own pub with bar(provide your own drinks) lounges, main one with a roaring log fire. We will certainly go again.

Beautifully renovated and comfortable B n B in a Grade 2 listed building with a fascinating history. Diane, the owner, was so welcoming and organised a taxi to pick us up when we phoned up very tired and wet after a long 18 mile day walking Hadrian’s Wall. Our room was beautiful and we slept very well. The multiple communal areas downstairs retain many original features, including a well in the floor under thick glass, a bread oven near the wood burning stove, very comfortable chairs and a bar. Breakfast choices were many, with generous portions. Loved it!

There are no words that convey the experience we had in The Courtyard Apartment this weekend. Our accommodation needs are complicated by our aging labrador who can no longer manage stairs & needs outside access without too far to walk, so this looked like it would work for us. It turned out to be far better than anticipated. Beautifully presented & immaculately clean we settled in quickly. We added a couple of non-slip mats to help Murphy & he settled in like a dream, as did we. A comfortable lounge, super sized bed, fabulous shower and basic provisions on arrival made for such a great stay we didn't want to leave. Being able to spend quality time together in such a great environment - priceless.

Great history in this place. Dianne was friendly, very accommodating, personable and present. The room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were SO comfortable! Hot/cold breakfast was perfect and the packed lunch was the best so far on our Hadrian's wall cycling trip. Thank you, Dianne!

Absolutely wonderful stay! We stayed here 3 years ago the first time we walked the wall and we’re very pleased to stay here again. After a 20 mile walk, the warm atmosphere, soft carpets and comfy beds were enormously welcome. Our host was wonderful, anticipated our needs and had an answer to everything. I would recommend this place to anyone staying a few days or passing through. You’ll have the best nights sleep and a super yummy breakfast to keep you going along the wall!!
