Beautifully restored, comfortable B&B, but what stood out was the service. Diane and her team were exceptionally helpful, particularly with our transportation needs. They also paid close attention to our group’s various food allergies. We stayed one night while hiking Hadrian’s Wall. The facilities were well-equipped for hikers, with boot storage on the ground floor and laundry (including detergent) for a reasonable fee. Delicious breakfast and packed lunches fueled us through the next day. We also enjoyed Brampton. If I were to do it again, I might plan several nights here and taxi to the start of each day’s walk, though the taxis would need to be arranged in advance.

We recently stayed as a family of 14 and had a great weekend. The accommodation is ideal with all of the bedrooms being en-suite and there being enough areas so everyone could be spread out between the bar/dining/lounge etc. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that you'd need to cater for a large group. Having the fire going was a nice addition. The host Dianne was very helpful from first booking until we arrived. We would definitely recommend Scotch Arms Mews to others.

Stayed here whilst walking Hadrian's Wall, and what a gem of a place it is. Dianne is such a wonderful host, she is a natural at her job. I would highly recommend Scotch Arms Mews to anyone, especially walking the wall. It had been terrible weather and she lit the log burner and gave us old newspaper to dry out boots. Small touches like this go a long way. Also provides packed lunches at a reasonable cost. Room was lovely and comfortable, had a great sleep. Breakfast buffet was great. There is a local taxi service who is used to ferrying walkers to and from the wall which was very convenient
By far my favourite B&B of the week.

Beautifully renovated and comfortable B n B in a Grade 2 listed building with a fascinating history.
Diane, the owner, was so welcoming and organised a taxi to pick us up when we phoned up very tired and wet after a long 18 mile day walking Hadrian’s Wall.
Our room was beautiful and we slept very well. The multiple communal areas downstairs retain many original features, including a well in the floor under thick glass, a bread oven near the wood burning stove, very comfortable chairs and a bar.
Breakfast choices were many, with generous portions.

Loved it!

This is a marvellous place to stay. It is right in the heart of Brampton and is very deceptive when you get to the door as it is really spacious. Dianne was great as we had a hard day walking and as soon as we walked in we were able to get our boots off and leave them to dry by the wood burner. Definitely geared up for the walking fraternity here.
The building is beautifully and lovingly restored by Dianne and her husband with parts of the original stone left exposed as well as a well within the entry hall. The furnishings in our twin room were lovely with beautiful beams and a well appointed bathroom. There is a bar downstairs which works on an honesty basis, we didn’t use it as we went out to the pub for dinner. There are plenty of dining opportunities nearby but we also saw some residents had pizza delivered to the guest house if you didn’t fancy going out.
Breakfast was really good, quality produce and cooked to perfection. The packed lunch we had was also really nice.
If you are walking or just passing through Brampton I would definitely stay here, it will not disappoint.

Our stay here was excellent. The b and b is tastefully decorated and Dianne, the owner, is very pleasant and helpful. Our room was lovely with comfy beds and a well appointed bathroom. There is a well-stocked “trust” bar to have a drink in a pleasant sitting room. The breakfast is varied with plenty of variety. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

A group of 6 of us stayed here while walking Hadrian’s Wall. The owner could not have done more to make our stay more comfortable. When the service we had booked failed to pick us up at the designated place (in a cold, driving rain) we called the owner and she arranged another van to pick us up. When we arrived she greeted us at the door and had a stove going to warm us and dry out our shoes. She even made reservations for us at a local pub for dinner. The rooms were very clean and welcoming. I can’t give the owner of Scotch Arms Mews a higher recommendation.

When we arrived, it was pouring with rain. It was around 3.55 and check-in was from 4.00pm. We stood in the downpour until the door electronically unlocked at 4.00pm precisely. The owner welcomed us and said she had no idea it had been raining. This we did not believe, as we had been able to see her sitting at a table by the window! We were soaked...not very hospitable.

We went in and it was all very clean and pleasant, however, we were immediately told, "you will put your boots over there". We did not appreciate being given orders. The owner then tried to get us to leave our coats there, however, we managed to hang on to those.

The room was pleasant, although the bathroom was tiny and not well designed at all. Despite the room being ok, we did not get any sleep due to the constant traffic outside. I found a pair of earplugs in a drawer the next morning, however, it would have been good if we had been warned about the noise and the earplugs were somewhere prominent.

Breakfast is only served from 8.00am, which we felt was designed to get everybody out as quickly as possible. We had a taxi booked for 8.30am and had to rush our breakfast in order to get out in time. When we left, we saw that everyone else was rushing to leave too. The breakfast was very prescriptive: only scrambled eggs available, which I don't like. We felt that more of a choice would have been better.

There is an honesty bar there, however, it is so badly stocked, it's not worth using. No ice, so warm drinks - unpleasant. There is a drinks menu there, but nothing available. Either have a bar and keep it stocked or don't bother. Also, it was cash only.

All in all we felt we'd been through some sort of military camp and it brought back long buried nightmares of boarding school. We had the impression that the owner did not enjoy this B&B venture. Perhaps a change of career?

I am still in shock at reading this review and thankfully 99% of our guests would completely disagree with you. I am horrified by your comments and could respond to them all, but I won't. I love what I do and having the interaction with our guests from all over the world. We provide our guests with a warm welcome, a clean and comfortable stay and a freshly prepared breakfast the following morning. I have read other reviews you have left and would only say reviews are not meant to be nasty!!

Comfortable and convenient B&B with the warmest welcome from Dianne. While walking Hadrian’s Wall Path, this was refreshingly different as it had a comfortable lounge where we could enjoy a takeaway and a self-service honestly bar. Things have certainly changed since the negative reviews in 2017! We definitely recommend staying here.

Obviously it depends on exactly where you want to join the trail ( I’m assuming you mean the Hadrian’s wall path)- it’s roughly 2 1/2 to 3 miles away if my memory serves me correctly
