We have stayed at Ruthern Valley 3 times now, firstly in a normal glamping pod, 2nd time in a megapod (our only holiday during covid) and most recently we camped.

I can’t be any more positive about this place, we absolutely love it!!!

The normal glamping pods are very basic, but that should be what you expect. The megapods are great because they have their own toilet which means you don’t have to walk over to the toilet block during the night. They are cosy but again it’s what you should expect from real true glamping, no luxuries here, just the trees, amazing wildlife and a really lovely site.

So, the site itself….the toilet and shower blocks are always clean and the showers are good. There is a little undercover area for washing pots and clothes if you like, in the on-site washing machines. There is a park onsite and every time we’ve been our 12 year old has made some friends and been off playing on his own most evenings. It gives me and my husband some peace and quiet and he loves it, the site feels secure so you don’t worry about where the kids are.

You can hire bikes which I really recommend. If you follow the camel trail you can ride all the way to Padstow for lunch. We cycled 29 miles last time and it’s mostly flat so easy for the more unfit (me) and kids. We discovered a vineyard on the way last time and I highly recommend a bit of wine tasting, even if it makes for a wobbly cycle after. The owners are so friendly and offer some great tips.

The best thing about Ruthern Valley is the location, you can explore the whole of Cornwall really easily, nothing is more than an hour or so drive, which is rare. We love Perranporth, found a hidden gem with an evening drink at the beach bar at Carlyon Bay, and have visited Lands End, Tintagel, Fowey and loads of little places like Duckpool, all from Ruthern Valley.

The prices are unbelievably cheap for the UK, staying here is a real bargain.

The onsite shop is great, and very handy. I’ve tried a couple of the local beers that were on sale. They have pigs and chickens onsite which are so cute!

I honestly can’t say enough great things about this place. If you want the most convenient location in the whole of Cornwall, with a warm welcome and a great site for camping or glamping, this is the place to be.

I’m sure we’ll be back next year!

We've just had a wonderful few days at Ruthern Valley Holidays. We booked a lodge and were given one that was very private in a hedged garden, away from the roadway through the site. The lodge was everything we needed. It was well equipped with kitchen equipment and there was nothing we needed that wasnt provided.
There was a very helpful folder in the lounge telling us all about the site, how the lodge works for hot water, heating, wifi etc. There was also a very long list of local places to eat out and other attractions. Very useful!
The site was so peaceful and tranquil. We took a suction mounted bird feeder and put that on the patio door and the birds who visited it were more entertaining than the television when we were in. We had a nuthatch, great tits, coal tits, chaffinches, robins, and lots of other birds which I couldnt identify, along with different squirrels and pigeons all wanting the bird seed.
The location of the site made a great base to go out and about from and we visited Penzance, Looe, Marazion with views of St Michael`s Mount and The Eden Project. There were many more places within easy reach but we didnt have time to visit everything, we`d be very happy to visit Ruthern Valley again to carry on exploring the area.
We had a peek at the Pods, caravan and bungalows too and they all looked great. All in good condition and well kept. The grounds are very well kept too.
It`s a delightful place and I highly recommend it.

We hired a bunglow for the week, it was very clean, had a well equipped kitchen, good sized bedrooms with storage, a bathroom with bath and shower and a lovely lounge with large windows looking out on a large grassed area with hedges and trees. It did get a bit chilly in the evenings but soon warmed up once the electic heaters were put on. What we liked most was the peace and quiet and to be surrounded by trees, wild flowers, grass and many wild birds. The site is in a very rural location, accessed by quiet narrow lanes, nice for walking or cycling and as is the traffic free Camel trail easily accessible nearby. We also visited many parts of Cornwall from here with easy access to the A roads. Would definitely stay again.

A small but cute little campsite! We arrived later than we had planned for but we were still greeted kindly by the man in the shop. The shop was small but had all the basics you could need, like us when we forgot our toothpaste - Colgate only for £1!
We stayed in a pod/wigwam on first inspection there was quite a strong musty smell throughout the duration of our stay - even with windows open it was hard to get rid of. However we knew we would be exploring for most of the day so we weren’t too fussed and you did get used to it. Very comfy beds you do need to take your own bedding and bed sheets, there was a lovely small heater to use for when it got cold. The heater worked wonders! The fridge is a lot bigger than we expected, definitely will fit all your milk, bacon, sausage eggs etc.
I wouldn’t want to have 5 in this space personally I would feel it a bit cramp. 2 is lovely lots of space, very good price and does the job for quick couples getaway to Cornwall!
They are situated in/ close to very small quiet villages so do plan ahead when wanting to have dinner out or when buying from the shops as it is around a 10-15 min drive.
On departure we left at 8am as we had a 5h drive ahead of us, we were told to drop the key back in reception. It was. Closed until 9am so we did ring the doorbell as it said to but we had no answer so we dropped the key in the letter box. The shop could do with a sign for early departure please leave key here with a Dropbox.
However overall a lovely stay thank you for having us!

What an amazing campsite. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, in a woodland setting, it is absolutely beautiful. The pitches are huge, giving you space and a good degree of privacy from your neighbours. Though the pitches are very well spaced so you’re not too close to anyone anyway. Electric hook up too, and all for £18 per night. The facilities are great, toilets and showers are very clean and well maintained. There are tumble dryers and a microwave should you need them, and great washing up areas. Our only issue was, we couldn’t stay for longer. We will definitely be back again soon.

Stayed in a Wigwam, approx 30 steps from shower block which were always clean and plentiful hot water, morning and evening. Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful site, surrounded by woodland and nature, could imagine how lovely this would be during spring with bluebells flowering, unfortunately, they had gone over by our arrival. Wigwams have fridge, kettle and microwave within, also a small wall hung heater, which was more than adequate to take the chill off of an evening. Picnic bench outside with a metal plate attached for disposal BBQ. Location is good, only short drive to coast and lovely beaches and towns. On-site bike hire, we hired bikes for the day, £12.50 each to ride the Camel Trail, apparently not far away, but we got lost, but eventually found the flat trail, rode into Wadebridge which was a lovely town to have cream tea and a stroll around the shops.

A little shelf in the shower cubicles would be a great help to place your toiletries on. We didn't find the fire pit, not identified on the map given, I know we could have asked, owners were approachable, but not overly chatty and left you alone to enjoy the tranquility.

You can hear the animals next door, which was nice, the noise was not intrusive at all, we bumped into the neighbour of the farm at the little shop, had a lovely chat with her about the area. We didn't see the pigs or chickens on site.

Have already recommended this site to others as great location, clean site, decent shower block and value for money.

Thank you for having us and please do consider them electric bikes. 😃

Thos is the third time I have stayed at Ruthern Valley and I can say that this was the best visit so far. The Megapods are superb and warm, lovely and cosy in December. Thw camp was empty which made it all the more relaxing. It is ideal for mountain biking and there are many trails nearby. The shower rooms are heated and the water was instantly hot. Well stocked shop on site (beer) and Dominoes pizza do deliveries.

I can’t fault the cabin and grounds all very good peacefull place . But my daughter and Grandaughter arrived after 24 hour trip delayed so me her mum arrived to cook a meal for when they arrived . We had drove 40 min to get there. Have a very well behaved dog . We put in kitchen. I went to the shop and said I have to wait for my daughter Grandaughter Havant seen for 4 years the man in the shop owner I think was very rude. He said no dogs allowed so I said would it be ok to put dog in the car. He had a very stern face and said no u need to get ur dog of this sight . So one had to drive another 40 mins back and back again . It’s in the middle of no we’re no lights so when u walk to ur car take ur life in ur hands not for a old person def should provide a torch . So what was suppose to be a nice visit turned out I couldn’t go spend time with my daughter at the lodge gutted after £1000 not even a kind way he was like get the dog of sight . And it’s literally in middle of nowhere through dark country roads as women I wouldn’t want to drive them on my own. So my daughter left 3 days early went to another sight who were lovely happy for me to visit .

We have not accepted dogs for many years and this is seen as a great bonus to our guests. We are very sorry but we could not make an exception you. I did have a chat with your daughter about this and she said it was not a problem - it certainly did not stop you visiting as we saw. We are 4 miles from Bodmin and Wadebridge in a rural location as described and benefit from very little light pollution and so the stars and night skies are one of our great assets. Andrew & Nicky

Lovely little campsite nestled in the woods. We booked a Wigwam glamping hut the night before our trip and had low expectations at booking such last minute, however, we were pleasantly surprised on arrival to a spotless and quaint cabin. The showers and toilets were sparkling clean, the campsite was quiet and neat. Very impressed and would stay again!

We've just returned from a week's holiday at ruthern valley.
I would go as far to say it's one of the best campsites I have ever been to! It's certainly out in the sticks with some interesting country lanes to drive down, but you get a lovely quiet site with no traffic noise at night time, in fact it's almost silent apart from people talking, the pitches are well spread out and are quite large so there's no problem if you have a big tent.

The facilities consist of multiple showers and toilets all of them was spotless, I never spotted anyone cleaning them but it was clear they was multiple times a day!
The shop on site was more than adequate supplying your essentials (the local eggs are delicious) obviously if you're using the site shop you expect a premium price but I felt it was competitive with not much of a mark up than a supermarket.

Overall I'm more than happy with ruthern valley and would recommend them to anyone especially families.
I can't wait to go back!
