Detailed Reviews
My husband and I have spent this weekend at Lanhydrock. We didn't have time to play golf as we wanted to explore the area. The hotel is welcoming and unpretentious. The staff, without exception, are friendly and really helpful. This evening they even made me a dish that wasn't on the menu. The rooms are comfortable and spotless and, with all the current madness, you felt safe. The food is all freshly prepared. Our ground floor room had small patio overlooking the course and it was lovely watching the sun setting from our table and chairs. The course looks well maintained and manicured and it looks like an ideal venue for a chilled golf break.

How lovely to start our week receiving such a charming review! We cannot thank you enough in such trying times to hear such positivity and gratitude. The golf course is attracting more golfers than ever, ideal as you say for a ‘chilled golfing break’ and I hope that you won’t mind if we quote you?! I will share your kind words with our hard working team and hope that you will return to enjoy many more wonderful Lanhydrock sunsets from one of our patios! Thank you again. Warmest wishes, Clare

This is a nice and peaceful location and the hotel is very nice as well. The room was very spacey and clean, had the greenest view of them all! There was tea, coffee and some biscuits provided in the room as well as TV and charging plugs by the bed.
The bathroom had a bathtub as well as a shower cabin with mansoon shower as well as a removable hand shower. Shampoo, body gel and towels were provided. The water pressure was amazingly good! The staff was helpful and very welcoming. Totally worth the visit and the prices are in a ver reasonable range, compared to the other places in the area.

This hotels greatest asset is its staff. All of them that we encountered, from the ladies on reception through to the lady cleaning the room, were polite, friendly and actually acted as if they wanted to be there and serve you. You got the impression they love their job and wanted to give their all, which is a big compliment to their bosses. A particular mention to Jane, a waitress in the restaurant. As soon as we encountered her i thought 'this person is really good at their job'
In a beautiful location with a stunning golf course, everywhere is very clean and well kept. Rooms were fine, although the bed was a bit hit and miss. Not as comfortable as the one at home and it felt odd as you got in and out, but maybe that was just us. The pillows were rather thin, so an extra one would have been advantageous, but, all in all a great weekend away and would highly recommend this gem of a hotel.

I paid £250 for the suite, on arrival I asked if we could put our surfboards in our own private garden that came with the suite and was told by a man walking past “no because of covid” however there were people walking through the hotel with their own sporting equipment and it didn’t seem to cause an issue. It was annoying as like I said, we had a private garden area which I had wanted specifically for board storage. I did search the websites terms and conditions and nowhere did it state we couldn’t store our boards in the private garden outside our room.
We then went for lunch of which there was a limited menu and the waitress proceeded to tell us the majority of what we wanted “ran out yesterday”. I eventually got the plaice sandwich and was horrified when I bit into the end and found the plaice tasted off. My partners lunch was also cold considering it was a ciabatta and the chips tasted just like frozen ones. Not quite what we expected from a nice hotel.
As stated before I paid a lot of money especially for the suite with a private patio and garden area, unfortunately throughout the night I was awoken by other people from the hotel using our patio set and walking across the “private” garden that I’d paid extra for. The final straw was at breakfast when I waited 45 minutes for cereal and toast.
When paying such a large amount of money for ONE night in a hotel I expect a lot better than what I received. Unfortunately it really dampened mine and my partners getaway as we’d been looking forward to staying at this hotel.

Thank you for making contact following this disappointing review to allow me to discuss the points made on the telephone in more detail. I wanted to make clear that the covered terrace with your particular suite was never advertised as a private garden, simply views of the golf course, open to all on site. Covid 19 has meant making some changes here at Lanhydrock to ensure the safety of our clients, some not always approved of or enjoyed. I did appreciate being able to apologise directly for the areas where we can improve and you were generous in your time and understanding for which I cannot thank you enough. I do hope that you will return to Lanhydrock when in Cornwall next. Hopefully by then I shall be able to shake your hand! Kind Regards, Clare

Stayed for one night....such a shame that they had so many cancellations, just 3 of us staying. Room very clean and bright and a treat to have underfloor heating in the bathroom. Food was very good and at a very reasonable price and breakfast what can I say a full Cornish puts a full English to shame 2 of everything (well why not) especially after a morning workout in a very well equipped gym. Would definitely stay again

We stayed for four nights in a luxury double which afforded us resplendent views across the course. The room was well thought out and had everything we required for a comfortable stay. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and absolutely everything we were served was consistently excellent. Very reasonable prices, plenty of choice and huge tasty servings- there is obviously a very fine chef in the kitchen. The Cornish Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel for years. We played golf everyday and the course was in beautiful condition, a really relaxing experience. We had a fantastic break and this was mostly down to the amazing staff who made us feel so at ease and welcome. If you want a truly relaxing break then this place has everything.

We stayed one night for a birthday treat, the staff were very attentive and friendly whilst staying professional. Our room was beautiful, we had a ground floor room with french doors out onto a small seating area looking out at the groomed greens an trees of the golf course. Our evening meal was very nice, lots of choice and very good value for money.

32 ladies from Cornwall booked an overnighter to play 2 rounds of golf, Storm Alex hit and the weather only allowed us to play 9 holes! The staff were amazing, Alistair the pro there greeted us back in and took our clubs into the gym and set them out to dry. The management team them gave us one of the function suites where we could socially distance in our groups of 4 and we could carry on our games! Today we were due a round of golf but the weather was still not being kind to us so the owner of the hotel arranged with Alistair a refund for todays golf and a discount on our return. We could not believe the amazing treatment from the staff and cant wait to book our return away time . Would highly recommend.

I can not stress enough how welcoming and comfortable the staff here made us feel, the service was out of this world, nothing was too much. The room was fabulous and the food was delicious. The breakfast was plentiful with much more offered, you wouldn’t go hungry. The hotel and grounds are lovely and then a short drive down the road to visit Lanhydrock itself. I highly recommend a stay and cannot thank the staff enough. I will be returning.

We had booked a 2 night stay under the fish and fizz offer. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly and efficient reception staff, who gave us all the info we required and mentioned that there was a large booking for the evening restaurant which then gave us the opportunity to book at a quieter time if required. Our room (15) was on the ground floor overlooking the 18th green. The room was bright, clean and well fitted with a super bathroom, also as part of the offer there was fizz and chocolates waiting for us in the room. We ate on the first night from the menu and had a tasty, well priced meal served by excellent friendly staff. Afterwards we relaxed in the bar with well priced drinks. On our second evening we decided to make use of our free fish and chips , when mentioning this to the restaurant we were informed that if we preferred we could have anything from the main menu and just pay for any price difference between our choice and fish and chips, another lovely meal and great service. On the day of our departure we had our second breakfast, there was a large party also having breakfast and they were very hungry so the cold buffet was a little bare, the staff were soon on the case replenishing food and coming around offering hot pastries while they restocked. On leaving we settled our bill and were pleasantly surprised at the prices of food and drink. A great little break was had by us both and we look forward to returning and making use of the golf course which is in first rate condition,

Hi Ann, thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not have any plans this year for New Years due to refurbishing our Bistro and parts of our kitchen. However, we will still be getting into the Christmas Spirit and we are anticipating a very busy Christmas. We hope to welcome you very soon.
