I've just returned from a short stay at the hotel with family and our two dogs. One room had clearly been refurbished to a high standard, whilst the second room was awaiting an update, but was nevertheless clean and offered all the amenities we required. The beds were comfortable and bedding soft. The towels smelled fresh and were replaced daily as required. Both rooms were at the front of the hotel and afforded good views of the seafront and pier.
Although there were some issues with the number of staff (the restaurant was closed for evening meals unless a dinner, bed and breakfast booking had been made), those working were helpful and friendly and certainly helped make our stay an enjoyable one. Housekeeping staff worked efficiently and nothing was too much trouble, whilst the bar/restaurant /admin staff remained alert to guest needs whilst multi-tasking. I was particularly impressed by the caring support given to one guest who was unfortunately poorly during her stay.
Overall, a great location, good facilities for guests and their dogs, and staff that deserve recognition for their hard work and commitment to making holiday stays so positive for guests.

Stopped for a night on our way to the South West. The decor is a little patchy in places and could do with a lick of paint in the corridors (most older hotels could have the same said of them) but our room was bright and clean. There were some people sat suitably far apart in the bar, though we did not go in, and food was served in the garden or your room. Again we did not avail ourselves but we had a good night's sleep. Breakfast in the room was a perfectly reasonable response to the current climate and arrived hot though it did mean we had to eat the hot parts of it first.
All in all reasonable precautions taken and we would stay again.
Dog well catered for too.

Having recently returned from a 4 night 5 day stay at this hotel for a bowls tour, I wanted to write a few words about our stay.
The hotel itself is in a great location opposite the beach and not far from the Pier. It has a nice big dining room serving freshly prepared food and a small bar which definitely needs updating.
Our room was a good size with a modern bathroom and step up shower cubicle.
Unfortunately the bed was tiny and if I had to guess, was a small double at best.
The staff were very nice and so accommodating to our needs. I requested a fan a few days before our arrival which they arranged for me and they even tumble dried a pair of shorts for me which I needed urgently.
In summary, the staff, especially Nicole and her dining room staff were great.

First impressions are everything and unfortunately the Lauriston gave a poor one. I will say however that it is in a prime location and near beach & restaurants.

We visited for a one night stay as a break on a long journey north, and frankly had I not already paid I would not have stayed.

Firstly the hotel boasts parking for guests but this is not adequate for the number of rooms provided.

The entirety of the interior is old, tired and dated the whole place has the general feeling of being unloved. The carpets are worn, chairs in the bar have no padding to them and unpainted damp patches adorn the ceiling. The first floor also sports a pungent stale odour.

We had a twin room, which was spacious, however with no head board behind the beds. Meaning you either continually bump your head on the wall all night or sleep with tour feet out of the bottom. The inside of the radiators are caked in hair and dust which periodically fall from behind it in the form of dust bunnies.

The bathroom cannot be described as functional. Large cracks line the sink and the toilets flush is pitifully poor. The shower leaks and has such a build up of limescale what little water comes out of the shower head is sprayed at multiple angles.

The towels were once a purple colour however have clearly been washed to within an inch of their life and are now an awful grey colour and wrough.

To top this off the heating in the bathroom cannot be turned off making the entire room baking hot meaning you have to sleep with the window open for air, however this let's in all the sounds of the busy weatherspoons next door.

In addition to this the rooms are separated by very thin walls meaning you can hear EVERYTHING from your neighbouring rooms including them using their bathroom.

When we raised our concerns to staff we were told they were fully booked and could not move us, in addition they informed us we were free to look for another hotel but our money was now non refundable.

Breakfast was a redeeming feature. Cooked breakfast was warm and clearly freshly cooked however it was sparse with only 1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg with a scattering of beans and mushrooms. Toast is also provided but this is as you sit down so it's cold when your breakfast arrives. If you select your beverage its not refillable, meaning my one Quatre pint of OJ needed to last all breakfast.

We were at breakfast at 07:30 and were gone by 08:10 after about 4 hours of sleep.

Not worth the £87 per night cost.

I've just got back from a 2 night stay here. I am originally from Weston and stayed here as part of a large family reunion group and to celebrate our Mums life who we lost earlier in the year. The staff were really friendly and made us feel really welcome especially in the bar and restaurant area. I've seen a few comments remarking that the hotel looks tired but the room we were in looked really fresh with a modern bathroom. We also had a lovely view of the gardens and pier. A lot of these older hotels I find the rooms can be stuffy and airless but this was fine and I had two great nights sleep. I would definitely stay here again!

I must admit we were not looking forward to our trip after reading some of the recent reviews. Booked two rooms, superior double (Room 14) and superior single (Room 31). I would say that parking was an issue, we were not able to park in a designated space when we arrived and ended up on the side of the car park on a path, we then moved the car when a space became available the following day. But certainly there is not enough car parking for each guest. However, we did find that The Royal Hotel not far away does offer non-resident parking at a reasonable rate and there is a public car park not too far away. Yes the hotel is tired and worn and could do with re-painting. But that is the end of the negatives. All communal areas and our rooms were spotlessly clean and the housekeeping was excellent. The rooms were well furnished, furniture looked new, bed was comfy and decoration was really nice, room was warm as well. Lift was much needed as my 87 year old mother was on second floor but with the lift that wasn't a problem. Staff were unbelievable, so kind and helpful. Breakfast was pre-ordered but that didn't bother us and it was run very efficiently. A special mention does need to be made about a waitress at breakfast (don't know her name but she has blonde hair and glasses). Some of the guests had disabilities/mental health issues and she made a point of cutting up their breakfasts for them, pouring their tea etc. and making sure they were well looked after. Haven't actually seen that level of care for guests before. Location is excellent and lovely restaurants nearby so we did not actually eat in the hotel. The big advantages are the staff, cleanliness and location. The only disadvantage for us was the parking but we got on fine. Would definitely recommend this hotel as being excellent value for money but well worth booking a superior room (not sure having read previous reviews we would risk a standard room but the superiors are well worth it). We will return.

The hotel is ideally situated near the seafront and pier. Although not new it has character and is clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful in these strange times and insisted on applying the Covid rules which included the wearing of masks when walking around and breakfast was only served in your room.

From initial arrival to our departure the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The receptionists remembered every little details about us which made us feel very welcome. The dining staff were friendly and did everything with a smile. They knew their guests and interacted well.
We had a twin room. Large room, beds a little softer than we are used to but were fine. Bed linen was good. Room was warm without the radiators on. The ensuite was roomy with complimentary toiletries and large fluffy towels.
The location was excellent just over the road from the beach and promenade.
Free car parking was an added bonus.
Large garden in front of property where people could sit, bar area looked good. Often saw guests sitting in the bay windows.
This hotel allows dogs and even provides a dog bed, dog towel and water bowls if requested.
The decor needs a little attention, especially where the paint work has been damaged.

We have been going to the Lauriston for over 8 years and the hotel was in some desperate need of modernisation and updating. On our recent visit the first thing we noticed was the reception area looked more inviting and fresh due to the recant decoration. The positive changes continued throughout the bar, corridor and restaurant due to the removal of the hand rail. Within the restaurant there have been big changes, e.g. new cutlery and crockery which has a real modern twist to your dining experience. The stair gates have also been removed which adds to a more peaceful sleep as you now don't get 'bang' from the gate in the middle of the night.

When staying at the hotel we always have breakfast + evening meal, the food is always very good and excellent value. This time most of our evening meals were prepared by agency Chef Ed whose skills took the dining experience up a notch. The presentation, taste and little extra touches did not go un-noticed. These were possibly some of the best meals we've had whilst staying at the Lauriston...and we visit around 2-3 times a year. The breakfast is always a high standard and the selection is always extremely good. We noticed even more variety to the continental choice, e.g. a variation of fresh Danish’s which went down a treat!!

Thank you for all the help, care and time that the whole staff at the Lauriston put into our stay...you're an excellent team.

See you soon

I spent 3 nights at the Lauriston Hotel in early July for a change of scenery. The location is great as you simply have to cross the road and you’re on the promenade. The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly and can’t do enough for you. I had a room on the ground floor which I understand had recently been renovated. It was modern, sizeable and immaculately clean. I arrived two hours before check-in in order to get a decent parking space on site and found one very easily. There is also an overflow car park behind the hotel for those who aren’t as overly organised as me. The breakfast was organised in 4 sittings so you had to state a time and what you wanted for breakfast the day before which given the current circumstances was completely understandable. In short, a well located and very reasonably priced hotel in Weston which I would definitely come back to as and when I visit Weston again.
