The Quinta do Outeiro is a beautifully restored manor house in the heart of Portugal's Douro valley. Nestling within its own five hectares (twelve acres) of cultivated farmland, it has several thousand fruit trees, extensive vineyards, and some stunning views into the valley. As well as four en-suite bedrooms in the main house and two large cottages in the grounds, we offer our guests historic formal gardens, a sanctified chapel, and pool terrace.

Detailed Reviews
Super clean, well appointed and excellently maintained hotel. Beautiful views of the valley and Douro river. We had two large king sized rooms with own access to the pool.
Staff were very friendly and helpful - especially the evening porter, who had to stay back for our very late arrival.
The hotel has it's own working winery and the wine was really good and reasonably priced for a hotel.
Breakfast was great. Unfortunately no lunch or dinner were available due to staff shortages , but the overall experience more than made up for this slight inconvenience.
Would definitely recommend.

Every detail has been thought through on this property. It's beautiful and you will not be disappointed. We stayed in one of the 2-bedroom villas on the property and not the main house. However, we did opt for breakfast in the main house each morning which was lovely (the warm brie rolls were yummy). Villa and main lodge is beautifully appointed with a blend of antique furniture and modern comforts. Plus, there are 3 pools on property. Our villa had our own pool. The grounds are impeccable. So very stunning with lovely views of valley. The 2 Brits that own this place has done an impeccable job in brining this property back to life. And the wines are quite good as well. Felipe was so helpful and took great effort to ensure we had a lovely stay. And the day staff, although they did no speak English well, was also tentative to our needs. Highly recommend this property!

On vacation in Resende, northern Portugal. I enjoyed unique landscapes, where peace reigns. Wonderful people!!!!
Quinta do Outeiro, very well thought out for those who spend holidays there with family or friends, excellent accommodation. I used the train as a means of transport, my family picked me up at Caldas de Aregos station.

Just had 5 day stay in this gorgeous quinta, not too difficult to find , used sat navigation on phone. The place is just beautiful, very relaxing and so very well looked after...
These are not negatives at all but just to let others know , ...there is no way you can walk into nearest town we tried and it's a bit wild on the road as no real pathway so you have to drive for evening meals.
Breakfast was a bit limited for us, but perhaps we were being picky!
Fabulous break, highly recommended .

Visited the Quinta last August with family and we had a truly wonderful time there. The farm is restored with much love and attention to detail and with great respect for the estate's heritage. The views are to die for and the gorgeous well-kept garden is a true neo-romantic masterpiece of early 20th century. Don't miss out on the view from atop the "Caramanchão" in the garden and you might be lucky to see the train moving slowly along the tracks right next to the river.
We all stayed within the main house accommodations and the rooms are of very good size and they have all the usual amenities. Interesting to know is that all bedrooms and other living quarters have its original (very well) restored furniture. That gives the house an extra special feeling when you visit. It also has a beautiful private chapel with a stunning panelled painted ceiling, definitely worth the visit. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the breakfast was well catered.
Plenty of free parking space and the quinta grounds are vast and varied, from vineyards to fruit tree orchards and other plant species. Nearby there are quite good regional restaurants and all fairly priced. A short trip by car or (preferably) by train takes you to beautiful Porto.
Whether you're planning a family trip or a romantic getaway the quinta will definitely have something that will captivate you and you'll soon wonder why you didn't book that extra night!

What a fabulous place. The Quinta has been lovingly restored with no expense spared. We loved our room - it was extremely spacious with an exceptional view over the pool and Douro valley. Very charming staff who were always willing to help. VERY good value and lovely breakfast in a relaxing breakfast room. The hotel also has a beautiful lounge for guests to relax in and lovely gardens to explore. They also have big plans to develop more accommodation in cottages and a new restaurant pavillion.

Even the rates are a bit above the average in Douro valley (80-90€/night) this place is worth a visit. The views are guaranteed spectacular from your room (only 4 rooms all have views, 2 lower floor have terrace on top). Everything is new, exceptional clean and made to perfection (so untypical for Portuguese standards!). Beds are very nice and soft (IKEA Tafjord), bathrooms with tub and extra shower. Lots of space in room and the "living area" of the second part of the house (stylish furniture and accessories).
Due to the fact that this isnot a private owned house (like many other Qunitas in the area) the "hotel" character makes it a bit anonym, esp. when you stay there alone w/o other guests.
Wifi is available but they need to improve singal strenght (in some places very unstable).
Creditcard payment accepted!
However I'd recommend this place to everyone as we have also seen much rundown places which think they can charge same rates....

I stayed at the Quinta with a friend for nearly a week in August, partly working and partly relaxing. It is a really stunning place - incredible views, beautifully restored buildings, a lovely swimming pool, quirky gardens! We stayed in one of the cottages, self-catering, and the kitchen was lovely - really designed for people who like to cook. We had good WiFi access and various areas where we could sit and work, with tables and chairs inside and outside the building. Comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms - really a great place to work or to relax or both. The staff were really helpful, before and during our stay. Oh and lovely wine. :-) All in all, a lovely place to stay. I hope I'll be back!

If you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful historic villa to spend some times in the Douro Valley, there you are. After some trouble finding the place, we've found the Quinta do Outeiro and fell in love in a minute. Stuck in the middle of vineyards and hills, the Quinta is an ancient rich building recently restored with passion and care. Great view of the valley, nice rooms (we slept in the Dona Maria's quarto, first floor, big and stylish), the staff is careful, gentle, fantastic. Breakfasts are tasty and plentiful. We had the chance to be the only guests of the Quinta, in late september, and we've felt like at home. The common spaces are cozy and very confortable, definitively worths a visit, a perfect runaway.

We decided to take the old National Highway from Porto and followed the Douro River valley. We punched in the address for Quinta do Outeiro and started driving with settings to avoid freeways. Some of the roads were kind of scary but the views of the valley were stellar. We finally arrived at the hotel after a very narrow back road but we were treated to a beautiful little hotel with lovely gardens, an awesome pool and magnificent views of the valley. Our room was well-appointed with great air conditioning, a comfortable bed, and a huge bath. We enjoyed some wine and cheese in the treehouse looking over the valley at sunset. Could not be more relaxing, romantic and delightful. A true gem!
