Detailed Reviews
Really nice site run by lovely British family, The pool was great and so was the restaurant which was enhanced by the nutty english waiters with a great sense of humour. Great dog walking and the chateau and lake were a surprise. The shower and toilet facilities were adequate but could have been better. Will definitely come back to this site.

Good campsite, loads of shade, nice customer service. I liked the takeaways and the proximity to the river, as well as the green space. The pool is great, a little dirty with the large amount of people. Otherwise, all clean, great space for the kids, a good balance of tent, campervan and mobile homes. Highly recommend it

Really fabulous for a stop over. Clean, tidy, people friendly. Unfortunately we didn't know the restaurant was closed. Would go back to try it! Really enjoyed our night. Showers, toilets etc all spotless. Pool great in 38 degrees. Lovely sound of the river at night too.

We had booked and paid for our 4 night visit via The Camping & Carvanning Club. Upon arrival there was no one about. We parked and I followed signs for reception which was closed up and looked like the door had not been open in some time, a sign said to ring the bell for attention, but we could not find a bell. We decided to walk round the sight, saw some static vans and the facilities block all cordoned off with tape. We walked back to reception area and then saw a man come out of his house and walk towards us. I asked 'Are you open and where are your facilities'? and his brusque response was 'You don't keep a shower block open in winter' he repeated this twice. At that point I felt I could not stay there and walked back to our van, my husband and the man then exchanged heated words where he was pointing at signs and saying 'can't you see these?' In fairness my husband did use an expletive when asking where the bell was which then resulted in the man saying he didn't want us on his site. So he had already been paid £49 and we didn't stay there. So an experience that blighted the rest of our holiday by a rude English man in France.

Response from Stuart Cook, Owner at Camping Le Moulin

Not quite how this happened. We spoke to The Camping & Caravanning club and no action was taken against us.

We used this site as a stop off to travel south through France. As it was low season there was little choice of campsites that were open. Unfortunately, there had been a lot of rain and the site was pretty waterlogged. We were lucky to get one of three hardstandings. Electricity was next to the pitch, a short walk to the water tap. The site was pretty basic with an old ‘sanitaire’ which was closed for winter and repairs. We were able to use the heated shower in the disabled toilet by the swimming pool. The shower had a short timer and there was nowhere to hang anything. There was no washing up facility so we did this in the caravan. Reception was a very small set up in the house and looked very unofficial. The pool was closed as it was very early season. There is a restaurant attached to the campsite but this was closed during our stay.
We won’t return to this site. It is more suited to motor homes or larger units with full facilities on board during low season.

I actually stayed in one of their mobile homes but I am a recent caravaner so had a good look round the site. It seems to have everything a vanner should need. Showers washing machines and all the usual bits that go with sites. British owned who come from Essex so good people. They have a swimming pool that is free to use. The restaurant is lovely with food at reasonable prices. With a really good jazz band with fish n chips Tuesday nights. Book early as it's very popular. The site is very quiet with the little village about a half an hour slow walk away. With a couple of surpermarkets, garages, shops and bars.

Just got back from a week at this campsite and have to say it was excellent !! toilet block was cleaned multiple times during the day so always clean and tidy !! pitches were all level and a good size, Pool was excellent heated and clean and the restaurant was great food was fantastic. They have quiz nights etc during the week although we never made it to them due to having late nights out !! site is just outside the village and is very quite but the village has everything you need shops bars restaurants pharmacy etc
A very nice site, great for weeks away and as others we met used it as a stop over etc

Visited for the 5th time to celebrate my 40th birthday!!
So what do we find so appealing to go back time and time again?
What can I say it's like going home. The minute we see the water tower on the outskirts of town the troubles and worries of home disappear.
A small family run campsite with friendly and accommodating owners, hot showers, swimming pool and bar/restaurant. Suitable for tents and touring caravans, with rental statics. The kids ( different ages ) play together year after year like they've never been apart. Leaving us adults to enjoy a relaxing holiday ( and the local wine )During the week there is the opportunity to enjoy a meal in the restaurant listening to jazz, take part in a light hearted ( but competitive ;) ) quiz or have a traditional home cooked English Sunday lunch.
The surrounding area is pretty and the site is a short walk from the quaint village of chef boutonne, which has a lovely chateau with a lake and children's play area. Further afield but an easy drive you can get to la Rochelle or Futuroscope for a day out.
If you are after a relaxing holiday without the hustle and bustle of commercial sites then this is for you.
Stuart, Sara, Geoff and Vera are on hand to advise and help where they can.
Needless to say we'll go back!! There's just something about it!

This campsite came as a big surprise. We intended to stay for two nights en-route to la Rochelle but enjoyed the site so much that we stayed the entire week, making a one day excursion to La Rochelle. The site is VERY well kept and the unbelievably friendly staff made us so welcome - many thanks to Stuart, Nigel, Sara and Alex. The highlight for us was a very good French restaurant on the site with excellent meals at, for France, were extremely reasonable prices. We ate there every day. Another advantage was the provision of notes on a number of walks through the district, some of which were off-road and suitable for dog walking. The small town of Chef Boutonne is a 15 minute walk away and has all the facilities you might want - an old chateau is worth a visit. However, the pleasantness of the campsite alongside a rippling stream is all you really need for a totally relaxing break.
We will certainly return.

We have been to this site a couple of times now and will be returning this August (we've even taken a friend and her children and she's fallen in love with it as much as us!!). Set in the heart of rural france but within easy driving distance to places of interest. With the pool, bar, great restuarant, and play area, Camping Le Moulin is an ideal place to relax and unwind with friends and family. The owners are extremely helpful with all your needs and make your stay as welcome as possible. The site is also pet friendly, where dogs have areas that they can be walked. The site is beautifully maintained, clean and hygenic. Cant wait to return for a cold glass of house wine and something from the menu!! Sam, Shaun, Lewis, Max & Freddy - Morden
