Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really nice site run by lovely British family, The pool was great and so was the restaurant which was enhanced by the nutty english waiters with a great sense of humour. Great dog walking and the chateau and lake were a surprise. The shower and toilet facilities were adequate but could have been better. Will definitely come back to this site.

We had booked and paid for our 4 night visit via The Camping & Carvanning Club. Upon arrival there was no one about. We parked and I followed signs for reception which was closed up and looked like the door had not been open in some time, a sign said to ring the bell for attention, but we could not find a bell. We decided to walk round the sight, saw some static vans and the facilities block all cordoned off with tape. We walked back to reception area and then saw a man come out of his house and walk towards us. I asked 'Are you open and where are your facilities'? and his brusque response was 'You don't keep a shower block open in winter' he repeated this twice. At that point I felt I could not stay there and walked back to our van, my husband and the man then exchanged heated words where he was pointing at signs and saying 'can't you see these?' In fairness my husband did use an expletive when asking where the bell was which then resulted in the man saying he didn't want us on his site. So he had already been paid £49 and we didn't stay there. So an experience that blighted the rest of our holiday by a rude English man in France.

Not quite how this happened. We spoke to The Camping & Caravanning club and no action was taken against us.

At Camping Le Moulin you can always expect a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay. This is why so many including myself keep coming back. This summer was my 3rd year with my 2 children aged 7 & 10. The site itself is clean and well maintained. There's a real family atmosphere with children making friends by the poolside. Friday night is often quiz night with great food and great camaraderie followed by "midnight" swimming for the children (usually about 10pm-ish!!). The site itself is a great place to while away lazy days, but it's also a great place to head out and explore. La Rochelle is a little over an hour away. And closer to home is Ruffec with its canoe hire. There really is something for everyone. My children especially enjoy visits to Valle De Singe and Zoodesseye. Thoroughly recommend Camping Le Moulin!

We stayed here for a week in late June 2017. Lovely small sized site in the countryside near the pretty village of Chef Boutonne. Owners were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Had several meals in their onsite restaurant, including traditional English Dinner, with excellent gravy! Can also recommend the excellent hair dressing salon called Carole, which is close to the large supermarket. Good onsite facilities and the River Boutonne runs alongside the site also, with ducks and chicks when we stayed there.

We holiday here every year. Its a fantastic site, run by wonderful people. Nothing is too much trouble for Sara and Stuart and the site is clean and well kept. The touring pitches are big and flat and there is a great swimming pool and restaurant on site. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. Lots of interesting market towns to visit. Plus only an hour and half drive from the beautiful Atlantic coast with bustling town such as La Rochelle and Royan to visit. It really is an idyllic location.

Stayed here for two nights in August 2016, it's a small, quiet, clean site. We ate in the restuarant both nights and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The site has a small pool and park, both of which my children enjoyed. Would return!

Really recommend this site as a stop over whilst going south. The english owners are really trying to make sure your stay is very welcoming. Pool good and with the bar, what more do you need? Pitches large and flat. I would of loved to of seen the old watermill cleared on the outside to use it as a waterfeature. I would visit again

I actually stayed in one of their mobile homes but I am a recent caravaner so had a good look round the site. It seems to have everything a vanner should need. Showers washing machines and all the usual bits that go with sites. British owned who come from Essex so good people. They have a swimming pool that is free to use. The restaurant is lovely with food at reasonable prices. With a really good jazz band with fish n chips Tuesday nights. Book early as it's very popular. The site is very quiet with the little village about a half an hour slow walk away. With a couple of surpermarkets, garages, shops and bars.

Stuart the owner and his wife Zara go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. We had a great time there and a good laugh especially when they do one of their quiz nights. The food is a la carte and excellent not expensive they even cook chinese and curry's in the evenings with special fish n chip nights. We only parked up with our camper vans even though they do have mobile homes on site for rent or purchase and it was lovely just jumping into the pool on the hot summer days. This is a great place to stay or stop when passing through South west France. We were on our way to Spain and it was only 20 mins off the main route. It is a camping stop with all amenities, restaurant , pool, Jazz music etc so the rating below is for hotels and doesn't do it justice. Not too far away we went Kayaking and the local markets were great.
