Our first visit to this pub was Christmas 2018 after shopping close by in Ystradgynlais. We were very impressed by the warm welcome we received, and our next few visits gave us the opportunity to speak to the same welcoming gentlemen who were local regulars. We have had snacks on a few occasions. Excellent toasted sandwiches! Prices very reasonable. The establishment is immaculate in terms cleanliness and decor. The biking memorabilia is very interesting. The staff are very pleasant, welcoming and engaging. Most impressive at this difficult time of the "virus" is the control in terms of distancing. With good humour but firmness, the staff have regularly reminded customers to keep distance. My wife and I feel very comfortable in this place. Well done to all of you staff and regulars.…
We stayed here for 2 nights - down in Wales for a funeral. The room was at the back of the pub, very comfortable and clean. A shower - rather than shower over a bath - was essential for us and the on suite was perfect. Right on the button for a 3* hotel. The pub was really pleasant, staff and regulars and of course the local brew. Food was not available (assume due to Covid-19 restrictions) but staff booked us a table at a local restaurant/pub. Breakfast was perfect - anything we asked for was provided. We will definitely be back as we often visit this part of South Wales. Odd we had not found it before, but always good to find a little gem. We look forward to seeing it all extended too. Parking is available close to the hotel - but the area was full on our visit. However there is plenty of parking within a 1 minute walk of the front door! The area has some nice walks through woodland, and the village is generally very pleasant. The pub itself has some very quirky displays. Really enjoyed taking in all that athmosphere.…
I stayed here while I attended a motorbike training course. Gareth and his team were excellent hosts. If you are anywhere near here you should stay, the breakfast is awesome, it kept me going ALL day.
Stayed here for an overnight when doing the Triumph Adventure Experience and the hotel is very close. Found it no problem. Owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar and beer garden were very nice and drinks not expensive, perfect sat out in the evening sun. Room was very nice, clean and obviously recently renovated, even had that brand new smell about it. Owner recommend places to eat and we chose the Tiffin Indian Restaurant and were not disappointed. Would stay here again and would be the perfect base for a South Wales touring holiday.
I stayed at the New Swan for two nights as I was on the two day Triumph Adventure Experience. Because of Covid-19, I had to change my original booking at another location and I am soooooo glad that I did. The New Swan was ideal and the owner/staff were great despite these challenging times. I booked a single room which was admittedly compact but modern, clean and comfortable, it had a TV, en-suite, tea/coffee, on site vehicle parking and met all of my needs. The bar was excellent with a good adjoining open aired area (although Covid restrictions understandably applied). As a result I did not get to try any food etc. but I will return to try it when life is closer to normal. As a location the New Swan is perfect for the BMW or Triumph experiences, has plenty of alternative eating establishments nearby and has major supermarkets locally. All-in-all - the New Swan will be my first choice when I return (hopefully) in 2021.…
