In Languedoc, overlooking the Canal du Midi, the Danglas family welcomes you to visit this 17th century castle, and to experience their passion via a fascinating Wine tasting in their cellar. You walk into a place full of history. Under Louis the 14th, the Château de Paraza hosted the architect of the Canal, Pierre Paul Riquet, when working on the construction of the canal du midi. Sublimated into a guest house, it is a preserved place which offers numerous unusual experiences off the beaten track. Alongside pine forests, olive groves and vineyards, you live timelessly here. Featuring a swimming pool and vast terraced gardens, it is a halt with an exceptional view of the Pyrenees mountains. An ultimate promise of a cosy overnight stay before setting off to explore the sacrosanct wine route or the banks of the canal du midi.

Detailed Reviews
We stumbled across this B&B while boating on the canal. We were looking for a lunch spot and went into the winery next door (owned by the same family). They had a set of stunning photos of the B&B so we decided to ask if they had rooms available. Lucky for us they did. The chateau is breathtaking. When you stay at the B&B your host Lucile says "treat this home as if it was your own" and she means it! The interior spaces are grand and all the details are in place from the 1600's. The rooms are huge and beautifully decorated. You feel as if you are (and you are!) staying at a piece of history. The pool is huge has ample cushy furniture to lounge on. The family owns a winery as I mentioned and there are bottles in your room and available in the main hallway for your enjoyment. The breakfast is worthy of a 5 star hotel and you will not go away hungry. Most of all the host Lucile is a gem. She goes out of her way to make sure you have a memorable stay at their home. Don't miss this place!

Room Tip:Â All of the rooms are beautiful. We had the two facing the pool, which was nice.

My girlfriend and I stayed here last week (August 8 through 10, 2018). If you want to stay in the most charming, timeless Chateau with modern amenities then Chateau de Paraza is where you want to be. It is in the middle of vineyards and open fields in the countryside. The rooms (we stayed in theBaron de Jougla suite) are period accurate with at least 15 foot ceilings. The bathroom was out if Architectural Digest and would look good in the most modern of homes. The suite also had direct access to the pool (salt water and beautiful) overlooking the vineyards. We slept with the 10 foot windows open and the breeze was wonderful. The winery you see on the website is accurate and right next to the chateau. The wine is delicious. The best part of all is the family Danglas who host you. From grandmother, daughters, sons, cousins and all. Lucille was our main contact and she even helped us with finding a place in Costa Brava, our next stop, that we also love. Lucille’s English is impeccable as are her other key personnel, like Margot, her cousin. You will need a car with GPS, but driving in the country side is fun and an adventure. I highly recommend Chateau de Castignan, which Lucille recommended to us. It is an architectural wonder like none other you have seen - in the middle of nowhere! I don’t want to give away its secrets. All of what we did was very reasonably priced and surprisingly less than we expected. Lucille will be happy to share her knowledge and the family only wants to make sure you have a good experience. If you like a large hotel with expensive lobbies, bars and glitz, this isn’t for you. But if you want to stay in a true southern French chateau with the accompanying charm, food, and atmosphere this is your place. Also, when we had breakfast it was set out like we were the king and queen of the chateau. Absolutely beautifully prepared and set. Believe it or not, you also get the keys to the castle to open and close the massive steel gate doors and fronts doors to go and come as you please. Our only mistake was not staying there longer to get out to see more towns and wineries nearby. Note that there is a small market in town, too, if you need something. You might miss it. We can’t recommend it enough.

We stopped to visit this beautiful Chateau while cruising the Canal du Midi. Our visit was limited to the winery and grounds, both most interesting. There are expensive and affordable ranges of excellent and varied wines to be sampled and purchased. We found some of these to be unique and all brilliantly presented by Noémie, with whom we were privileged to have a long conversation about common past work experiences. Thank you Noémie and Chateau for a most enjoyable experience.
As our visit was only to the winery and grounds, ratings to do not relate to the hotel but we feel it is safe to assume that this is of the same friendly nature ans high standard.

We were at the bar and Noemi was our waitress during wine tasting. Oh la là , it was awesome! The wines were great and they also serve food :)
I would totally recommend this place for a relaxing weekend in the South of France!

It is too bad we only arrived at 3pm, then had to leave the next day at 9am. We could have stayed much longer, and enjoyed the pool, and grounds. Nice view of the canal. Very nice breakfast. Very pleasant hosts.
