In March of this year, my spouse and I set out to create a memorable 20 year anniversary vacation. We knew we wanted to go to Greece (because we had never been there before), but we didn’t know exactly where. We looked at Mykonos and Santorini, but it was the lure of the Stella Island 5-Star Adult-Only All-Inclusive Resort and Spa that eventually won us over. The photos of the resort on-line were breathtaking, and seemingly offered the romantic and relaxing vacation we were looking for.

As you know, pictures are only the beginning. The experience really starts at first contact. Our first contact with Stella Island was with Ms. Asimina Kefalaki in your reservations department. Even though there was a seven-hour time zone difference, and we could only correspond via email; Ms. Kefalaki was kind, courteous, and extremely responsive. While preparing, over a five-month period, we exchanged numerous e-mails, asking loads of questions. Her knowledge and professionalism quickly alleviated any concerns we had regarding the quality of your resort.

At last, we arrived Stella Island on Thursday, 24 August 2023. Wow!!! Everything we had imagined was right in front of us. Upon arrival we were immediately and warmly greeting by Ms. Erasmia who sat us in the lobby while she and the staff worked their magic behind the scenes to get us checked-in. Within minutes we were offered a welcome refreshment. We were quickly checked-in and escorted to our Over-the-Water Bungalow (1002). Ms. Erasmia wasn’t done with us. The next day (and many days after that), she continued to help
orchestrate our dining experiences, external excursions, and even, our nights out on the town. She greeted us EVERY TIME with a warm, beautiful smile, and a genuine desire to help. I knew we were in good hands.

The impeccable service continued throughout the property, but we must mention a few staff members who went above and beyond every day we saw them. Ms. Maria (picture not available) and Ms. Marlilena at the Cabana pool bar were quick to offer a bright and cheery greeting, and genuinely wanted to make our days in the sun fun and happy. They offered us routine libations and challenged our pallets to try some of the Stella favorites. Maria and Marilena have amazing positive energy! They seemed like a breath of fresh air, each time one of them came to take another drink order!

Two particular coffee Barristers at Utopia Coffee Bar, Ms. Rodula and Ms. Maritea, really stood out to us! Nothing, wakes up the soul like a special brew and a sunny smile. Ms. Rodula and Ms. Maritea are experts in their craft and should be commended for their desire and determination to create the perfect drink, each and every time! From Coffees and Teas to Cocktails, these two ladies not only made amazing drinks, but they made our time in the lobby with them FUN!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed your Five-Star Resort and Five-Star Service!!! Thank you ALL, so very much!!! A very SPECIAL thank you to the ladies mentioned above who added that “extra” touch! Our experience at your resort will forever be a memory of a lifetime!!!

We have just returned from a week at the Stella Island and it is comfortably the best European hotel we have ever stayed at, and would compete with some of the best across America and the Caribbean.

The start was most welcome with an individual transfer in a quality car to take us to the resort, and on arrival the first impressions of the resort were breath taking. Check in was warm and welcoming and the use of an App ingenious (more to follow).

We selected an Island Villa room with a private pool and it made the holiday, giving us our own space and excellent facilities to enjoy. The room was spacious, mini bar stocked daily with beer, water and soft drinks and housekeeping were superb with a visit every morning and evening to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards were maintained to the highest possible standards.

The use of the App is an excellent initiative, allowing you to book room service, the gym or make dinner arrangements at the A La Carte restaurants. For the hotel, however, it’s a really clever way to ensure they comply with social distancing in a really non intrusive way. Staff consistently wore PPE and sanitising stations were in every public place for guests to use. The hotel team had really tried everything they could to make the resort feel safe.

The A La Carte restaurants we dined in were all excellent, with Umami and La Parrilla the absolute stand outs, however the quality and variety of food at the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner was still very good.

We did have a couple of minor issues across the first couple of days, but credit to the guest relations team and in particular Pari who did everything they could to resolve quickly and to our satisfaction. Another positive point that helps differentiate the Stella Island from other hotels.

Overall, a great stay at a beautiful resort and I would highly recommend.

Well I really don’t know where to start! This is a real slice of paradise. The overall design of this hotel is stunning,I have never stayed somewhere as beautiful as this, it almost feels as though the whole hotel is floating on water.

Room: we stayed in the most standard type of room with a balcony instead of the favoured swim up rooms, and honestly the view from every room is so beautiful we have nothing bad to say about it.

Food: with so much choice, a buffet plus 4 other restaurants to choose from. You need to be pretty hard to please to not find something delicious. may I add these are the best deserts I’ve ever tasted in a hotel!

staff cannot do enough for you, they are friendly and attentive and work so hard everyday to meet your every need.

Evening entertainment was fabulous, the hotel even comes with its own mermaids once or twice a week!
It is generally an extremely chilled and relaxed vibe so if it’s calm and relaxation you want- it’s perfect.

I’m so sad to leave and would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat.
It’s also worth noticing I felt so safe here during the COVID 19 pandemic. Staff are fully equipped in PPE and everything is spotless. Guests use hand sanitiser before entering bars and restaurants but masks were optional. Gloves must be worn at buffet too. I have really been in a bubble of happiness at Stella island.

Fantastic hotel with very modern facilities, great food and very friendly service. We felt safe and relaxed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The reception, bars and restaurant teams were absolutely fantastic, friendly, attentive and professional.

A few minor things that could be improved in my opinion.

1. There was a culture at the hotel where people would get up very early to leave towels to claim sunbeds and cabanas. Some people would then not come down to the reserved sunbeds until mid afternoon. This I felt was unfair and should be managed better by the hotel.

2. I was surprised by the sheer volume of smokers in the hotel. All outside seating and bar areas were tightly packed with chairs and so as non smokers we had to eat indoors every day to avoid the smoke ruining our meals and drinks. Not fair as non smokers that we could not enjoy the outdoor experience. Smokers seamed to have no consideration for a the non smokers around them.

3. The hotel was busy and the staff worked very hard. There were quite a few service glitches such as having your tabled cleared (including cutlary and drinks) when we went to the buffet to get our main course. Staff were under pressure to turn tables around so they often tried to clear plates and glasses before being finished. A number of times we ordered pool drinks and then the staff just forgot to bring them. Our room attendant forgot to put pillow cases on our bed and it took 4 hours and 3 calls to reception to get fixed. Staff were fantastic, just working under pressure.

4. The hotel sold Shisha pipes around the bar area and we watched at least 4 sets of idiot guests drop the pipes and scatter the burning embers across wooden decks. I was quite concerned of fire risks in the rooms as guests would often take the pipes back to their wooden balcony.

All in all it was a great holiday and I would go back one day despite the points noted.

We visited Stella Island in October 2020 for 10 days all inclusive and it was worth every penny and more.

From the minute we got there they offered us complimentary drinks and took our cases to our room. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

The food was fantastic, with a very large variety for breakfast and something new every night for dinner. We visited all of the A la Carte restaurants which were outstanding - our favourite was Umami.

Entertainment was lively but after 7 days it goes back to the same schedule, so if you're there longer than a week you may see some repeats, but it's fine after a few cocktails down.

We can not fault the room, it was so clean and tidy, the mini bar was restocked everyday and our favourite part was the room service!

If you needed anything they'd always accommodate! We needed more clothe hangers and an iron and they came to our room within half an hour with the extras we requested.

We did some excursions whilst staying there, including a trip to the cretaqauirum and a buggy safari trip and visited an olive factory, which were also great experiences.

We can't wait to come back in 2021.. can't recommend this hotel enough.. just book :)

We booked to stay here on 25th July having never visited Crete before and we were not disappointed. Everything about this hotel is stunning. When you check in the reception team sit you down and ask you to download an app, the app is where you book your a la carte restaurants, spa services, gym time and can see whats on every day. They are fantastic with COVID processes and have good robust procedures in place. The buffets you have to wear a glove and sanitise hands on entry to any restuarant. Our room was a room 25 which was an Island Villa with private pool, it was to die for, a fully stocked mini bar, elemis toiletries, jacquzzi bath, rainfall shower and of course our own private pool and decking area. There really is no need to leave your . room! The housekeeping came in twice a day and were very attentive. There are several pools and always loungers free. There are 4 a la carte restuarants and we dined at them all and was totally blown away by the quality of the food. The lunch and evening buffets were varied and catered for all and the breakfast had a huge selection. There is an option for lunch to order from the pool bar or La Parilla too if you dont fancy the buffet. The spa is gorgeous and we had 2 treatments there I would recommend a visit. The staff at this hotel ar what makes it special, I was lucky enough to bag Nicki as my personal trainer, she was fantastic and really pushed me yet we had such fun, I really enjoyed doing the morning classes to. Adonis the F and B Manager always asked how we were and was so attentive and friendly he truly has a passion for good service. Angelos always had my husbands whiskey ready when we went to dinner, Maria was great at the pool bar, Mara in the spa was very friendly and attentive, Anastassia the team captain was very personable and friendly and her service was amazing and Pari on guest relations was very helpful and kind. The local town is around 15 minutes in a taxi and is nice to make a change of things. The beaches were a bit too over crowded so we preferred the tranquility of our hotel. Stella Island is 5 star luxury and we cannot wait to go back

We stayed in premium pool view rooms near the Makuti bar.. You could not fault this hotel at all and everywhere was well maintained, spotless and we never saw any areas that needed attention. What you see in the photos is what you get. It is that perfect. We found all the staff from receptionist to cleaner cheerful and helpful and they appeared to be genuinely happy in their work.

FOOD
The Kimata buffet restaurant was very covid compliant. Masks and gloves were worn by guests when they were getting food. Food selection was great and lots of healthy salads and fruit as well as the usual cooked food. We had breakfast and lunch here and a couple of dinners and were impressed.
The Oceania was our favourite restaurant and the food and service was as good as any up market restaurant in London.
The Vegera was OK and fairly rustic cretan food.
The Umami was good but if you are a big eater you may have to supplement this meal as portions were not huge.
La Parrilla was in a lovely setting and lovely food there too.
The Makuti bar was great and the cocktails and service there perfect although we didn't eat there.

ENTERTAINMENT
There was often a saxophonist or violinist playing outside restaurants which was nice. The Paraiso entertainment of acrobats, dancers etc. was watchable.

If I could suggest a couple of improvements to the hotel these would be:-

1. In our rooms we didn't have any full length mirrors of full length wardrobes where you could hang long dresses.
2. The music in the bars was to be honest not to our taste. Loud and annoying.
3. The golf buggys that they use to transport people and goods drive way to fast and there will be an accident soon!

A lovely place to visit although little outside the resort to see.

This hotel is even better than the pictures. The rooms are spacious and decorated to a high standard - we had the most ‘basic room’ on offer, a pool view and it was lovely. Honestly the biggest and comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. We booked last minute so had no swim up rooms available - after a day at being at the resort we soon realised we were glad we didn’t pay the extra. The swim up rooms barely get sun if any at all and the majority of guests with these rooms were using the other sunbeds round the pools. This was quite annoying as they would put towels out to save them at 6.30 but not actually use them til midday (that’s down to the guest though, same as most places!)

The food at this hotel is the best I’ve had. The buffet was always fantastic - not a massive selection but certainly something for everyone. They always had fish and meat available at lunch and dinner with a large selection of salads & breads. They also offered pizza, pasta, vegetables and fruit. Everything was cooked to a high standard. The a la carte restaurants were like eating at a high end London restaurant. The Asian meal we had on our last night was probably the best meal I’d ever eaten anywhere, if you like Asian food it is a must!

The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. My only negative is that getting drinks round the pool and in the evening was really slow. The staff were non stop and not their fault at all, But there were lots of guests and usually only 1 or 2 people working behind the bars it was taking 25 minutes to receive your drink after ordering it in the evenings. If we finished eating at 9.30 it only left us an hour and a half (as the all inclusive finishes at 11pm which I wasn’t aware of when booking) for drinks but it took so long to get them and they always came in thimble Like glasses for cocktails and the beers were half pints. If you are big drinkers this is not the place for you lol again, the staff were always so busy so not their fault seems more of a management decision.

All in all it was a fantastic resort and I would definitely go back there. Special thanks to Maro who is the sweetest lady, she is a credit to Stella Island.

We recently returned from a weeks stay here
From our arrival to our departure everything was perfect

We were met at the front of the hotel our luggage off loaded and taken to our room ,check in was easy and quick (recommend downloading their app prior to arrival )

A buggy took us to our room and we were shown in from a member of the reception team .our room was clean and well designed, the shower was superb and during our stay the room was cleaned daily with both fresh beach towels and room towels
.
The whole resort floated on sweeping lagoons with many different areas to soak up the sun .Every detail was well thought out and beautifully presented .

We ate at la Parilla for breakfast and it was faultless everything was hot and fresh and the service was faultless .

All the A La Carte restaurants except The Cretan (dont think it was our taste of cuisine )were superb we received the best service and left feeling the 5 star treatment had been given in every way

Lunchtime we ate at the three bars in the resort and were never disappointed
The staff work incredibly hard and were more than helpful .We felt our every whim wasn't too much trouble for them.

Our special thanks goes to Effy Constantino Danielle Anna and so many more but my brain has gone to mush after a week of total relaxation
Thank you again to everyone who works hard on the Stella team it is a holiday I will never forget

Me and my partner stayed here in Sept 2021.
Upon arrival at the hotel it wasn't the best start we weren't offered a welcome drink which is disappointing for a 5* hotel and the checkin process was a shambles. We were left waiting whilst someone came over every 5 minutes to proceed with the next bit, the whole thing took longer then 20mins when really should have been done in 5 mins max. They whole checkin process left us a bit disheartened and then we were waiting for the hotel to redeem itself, which it did.
On day one we were unable to reserve bookings for all the restaurants but there must have been cancellations or opened more availability as in the end we were able to book them all.
The restaurants are the reason I believe the hotel is 5*, the food and service is amazing and cannot be faulted.
We had a swim up room that was decent, located round one of the sides. We would have preferred to have a swim up on the main pool but it wasn't an issue.
If you do not have a swim up room it is likely you will not get a sunbed, as there are not many additional sunbeds and people put towels out to reserve them very early. Our beds on our swim up balcony only had sun half the day, which wasn't a major issue but would have preferred more time in sun as an option as there was no where else to go.
The entertainment in the hotel is great, although somewhat repetitive it is better than other hotels we have visited on Greek islands. The aesthetic of the hotel cannot be faulted it is very 'instagram-able' and pretty. The only other thing to note is a lot of services are completed via the app, for example restaurant and gym bookings. When we rang an asked for an iron for the room we didn't receive one, however when we 'ordered' one via the app it did arrive. There are lot of honeymooners and is perfect honeymoon hotel for a short-haul flight from the UK. Although I do think we paid a LOT in comparison to other 5* European hotels it was a great holiday and I would recommend this hotel. If we didn't have the issues on check in I would have given it 5* rating.
