The room was spacious and clean, if a bit dated, but what really made the trip was the friendly staff and setup. The food was also excellent with a nice selection of specials. A spot of fly fishing in the evening came as a bonus. The week flew by, and I was very glad to have been recommended the Half Moon Inn as a base for the week.
Stayed for one night last week while on a cycle tour from Barnstaple to Okehampton. Could not fault it, great food, lovely clean room and all the staff/owners were very welcoming too. Will visit again when in the area.
Visited on 27th April for a birthday dinner in the bar. Great service, really friendly and busy, so a great atmosphere and fun place to be! The food choice was excellent and was really tasty ! A quality night out. Thankyou to all the wonderful staff!
We visit yesterday. We rang late in to see if we could have a table for two adults and a 2.5year old. We were offered the time we wanted. A warm welcome greeted us. We had a lovely meal and the atmosphere was great. Landlord came and had a nice chat with us and generally made us feel so welcome! An extra special touch from the landlord was the surprise of icecream and strawberries for my little girl, as he was so impressed with how well behaved she was. It was so appreciated! Thank you. And we will visit again for sure. Highly recommend
Our second visit to this lovely pub and we had an amazing Sunday roast, everything from the cauliflower cheese to yorkshire pudding was superbly cooked with great homemade taste and flavours. Service was excellent and very attentive.
Highly recommend, wish it was our local pub! Food was fantastic even catering options for gluten free diary free! Friendly staff that made you feel nothing was too much trouble! Thank you for a great evening
I booked rooms at The Half Moon Inn last minute to beat Storm Eunice before our local holiday cottage stay. The Half Moon Inn reception was friendly, warm & welcoming from my first phone call. Everyone was so helpful & accommodating for our daughter, son in law & their baby & our dogs. Our large rooms were warm, dated but not tired, good showers - new owners so we hear plans are in store. Great breakfast to start our day - local produce. We enjoyed our stay so much we returned for Sunday lunch - home roasts, perfectly cooked veg & home made puddings.
Just returned from a meal and pint. The welcome was very warm and the food was plentiful. Portion sizes were huge. My wife had lamb shank and I had pate followed by the stack burger, all of which was accompanied with lota of garnish/ chips / veg etc and none of which we were able to finish, which is unheard of. Definitely good pub food and heartily recommended
Enjoyed a fabulous meal on Valentine's Evening. A varied menu to suit all tastes, we chose from the valentines set menu, the food was delicious and beautifully presented; particularly the sharing dessert (the best chocolate brownie in a very long time), lovely atmosphere and attentive service and staff. Thank you - we will be back again soon.
Enjoyed a lovely evening meal at The Half Moon Inn. Fantastic, tasty and well presented food. We found it difficult to make a choice from the varied menu. There were so many appealing choices. As visitors to the area, we were made to feel welcome and the service was friendly and professional. Would highly recommend.
