Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great find for myself travelling as a business man. Friendly attentive staff who are really happy to help in anything you require. The rooms are nicely decorated and have everything you need with great ensuites. The restaurant is fabulous with great tasty food options and delicious breakfast. Also a bonus they have one 7kw charger which I could use to charge my car overnight.

Hotel's Favourite
Super helpful and friendly team gave us an unforgettable shirt stay. They couldn't have been more welcoming. The historic house has been lovingly restored with a contemporary and comfortable feel, set in lovely grounds. Food excellent - a great array of popular "pub grub' type meals but served in fine dining style. Generous dishes and all very tasty. Highly recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review, it is very much appreciated. We are so very proud of our team! You should consider returning in Summer - the grounds are at their very best and our beautiful garden takes some beating. Such a lovely place to relax with a cool drink. Regards Sharron C

We stayed for 2 nights in a family room (room 7), it was lovely to have a full size single bed as the 3rd bed, and not a roll away camp bed. The room had everything we needed and toiletries were also provided The hotel is fantastic, very clean with lovely, friendly & professional staff We had breakfast both mornings and also ate here one night - the food is delicious and there is a bar with so many drinks to choose from The views and scenery were amazing too We will certainly be visiting her again soon

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, can’t do enough for you. Hotel is just off the main road , very, quiet and in a beautiful location with plenty of parking.. room was extremely comfortable with a huge en-suite with ala huge powerful shower. Good WiFi throughout. There’s a very comfortable lounge area off the main reception. The bar is very well stocked with a good choice. There was something for everyone on the menu. I had the prawn cocktail, rack of lamb and the Almond apple strudel which was amazing, in fact it’s worth going just for the apple strudel (all their deserts are home made) breakfast was superb, good coffee. The waitressing staff were lovely. I will have to think of an excuse to stay there again it really was so good. 10/10

Beautiful recently renovated hotel in the Derbyshire countryside. Food and drink is second to none (new menu looks fabulous), nothing better than sitting in the lovely gardens having a glass of fizz. I have been lucky enough to attend a family wedding there, had afternoon tea to celebrate a big birthday and also hold a wake there. The staff are friendly and attentive and can’t do enough for you. Whether you are going for a meal, drinks or just walking past and calling for coffee and cake you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at Oakhill on Friday 16th February. What a truly magnificent experience. The hotel and rooms are exceptional with every detail thought about and executed to a high standard. We had dinner in beautiful surroundings and the standards were amazing for a small country hotel. The team were friendly and very attentive and we would highly recommend a visit for anyone coming to the area. Thank you to the Oakhill team for a truly memorable experience.

Oakhill is an amazing destination! During our stay to explore Derbyshire, it provided the ideal setting. The hotel was impeccably clean, the bedroom offered great comfort, and the food was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to suggest wonderful places to visit. We're definitely planning to return.

The hotel is beautiful and rooms were pleasant enough. However it doesn’t take a great deal of effort to run a little bit of water through a shower waste that hasn’t been used for a while to stop the place stinking. The food was average. And when you’re paying £30 for a main, it needs to blow you away because that’s Michelin standard pricing. This was far from it. Meals were forgotten and brought at the wrong time, just generally not great and massively disappointing. To look at, it promised so much, but in truth delivered very little. Staff were mostly pleasant. And that’s what stops this rating being lower than it could have been.
