This hidden country house hotel in Dumfries and Galloway must be the best kept secret in Scotland. Fantastic food prepared by Master Chef Ian . The daily changing menu offer one of the best food in Scotland while his wife Jane oversee the running of this stunning traditional

A small hotel right on the bank of a wide fast flowing river. The place and the rooms are great. But the real pull is the food. The cooking is original and distinctive whilst also presenting a sequence of lush plates. Always delicate and never overfacing. A truly great chef.

Sadly we were only on a stopover on the way to Oban and would have liked to have stayed longer. The hotel is in a peaceful riverside setting. The room was very comfortable and the dining experience was exceptional. Quality ingredients and flavours all beautifully served.

We chose this lovely little gem as, my wife and I have had a pretty stressful last year and wanted a break away, joining one of our children in Skye. Blackaddie gave us a restful overnight stop before Contiuing our journey. We stopped here on our return, for the same reason.

We chose the Blackaddie because it was a great location to rest our heads before continuing our journey to the highlands. In the end it wasn’t just the location that was perfect. We stayed in the Grouse Suite - the four poster bed was so incredibly comfortable I wish I could

Was wanting to know if house is near the town please
The town is adequate, and has everything you need, however, Thornhill is around 15 mins drive away, and Ayr is approx. 45 mins drive, on the way you pass through Cumnock and it has quite a few shops there, depending what your looking for.

Hi i was wondering if theres any nice restaurants close by ?
Hi, there is a smashing café at the top of the road, at the side of the garage/petrol station, fantastic choice and superb food, staff etc. The Nithsdale also have a restaurant up in the town and again very nice food. For something special, along the road around 20mins drive is The Lochside Hotel and restaurant, very well worth the drive. Back to Sanquhar, the Airts Café is also very very nice. Hopefully one of these will be to your liking, We loved all of them,

Our car park is large enough to take a pick up + trailer no problem. We do not however have CCTV but as it is overlooked by the hotel I would be confident that your trailer would be secure parked in the car park for however long it needs to be there for.
