All of the staff were super friendly, accommodating and from what we saw, all worked really hard with great efficiency. The pub itself is full of character, with an open fire in the main part and a log burning stove at the back. There's a decent selection of ales, wines and spirits. Our evening meals were substantial and delicious. You...

We stayed at a self catering cottage opposite this pub, and had booked our accommodation based on the reviews of the pub and locality to where we were staying. There was nothing on the website to say that the pub did not allow dogs after 6pm. We were very disappointed. There was quite a curt notice outside the pub stating...

This is the same as the Barrel Inn, Bretton. We had our first visit this February for an evening meal. The Inn is attractive, beautiful warm fire and the food good. Beware large portions! It is close to Underleigh House and we would hope to visit again.

We visited here for lunch . Pleasant staff and good lunchtime menu. We had Stilton and broccoli soup, granary roll and chips. Well presented lovely views. BUT we don't take kindly to being rushed when we are eating, nor expect to be asked if we have finished when our glasses and plates were still partially filled with drink and food....

This is one of my favourite pubs I think it is the highest pub in Derbyshire, certainly a wonderful view, day or night. At night the stars are amazing as no light pollution. Food very good and a wide variety, something for every taste and friendly staff, easy parking. It would be so lovely to stay the night and not to...

The Barrel Inn is located in a remote picturesque location at the top of a hill about 5km west of Grindleford. It is popular with walkers for a drink / pub meal and it also serves restaurant style meals. A group of us dined there recently and overall it was good food if a bit overpriced. There were a couple...

We visited on Sunday, part of a large group and everyone having food. When the waitress brought our soup order she commented on one being noticeably smaller than the other. The smaller portion was taken away and brought back a little fuller, however it had been topped up with hot water, rather than with more soup, and was therefore quite...
