Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The reviews seem to vary a lot on here for this hotel and many other places we have stayed in the past, we normally do not bother with writing reviews as everyone is different, however, felt that one or two recent reviews do not give this hotel nor the staff any justice. We had a fab time during our four night stay this week, our experience was great from arrival to departure, weather also a bonus. Our room was quite sizeable with comfy bed, great shower and bath, everything seemed to be clean and sanitised, which made us feel safe. Great touch on wrapping the cutlery for meals and breakfast. Amazing food with plentiful portions. Breakfast was a great start to the day for us, it kept us going whilst exploring the lovely island and its surroundings.
The only issue that I would raise is the staircase carpet that has seen better days, however, that is pure cosmetic. We were told that plans and changes are on the cards so wish them all the best for the future.
Good central location to explore North Wales, Zip World, Snowdon, Beaches and Castles with plenty of nearby amenities.

A bit dubious on entering as premises was a little dark but we had an absolutely lovely Sunday dinner, very tasty. They also have a discount for AOP's and children under 12 eat for 5 pounds odd. Staff were also welcoming and professional. We will definitely return.

The hotel is in such a beautiful setting, was lovely sat outside drinking a cold drink on a sunny day. The restaurant is also lovely, as is the food.
So much potential for this hotel, that I'm sure has been affected by the pandemic.
But little touches could go a long way, for example the hanging baskets - could they not have real flowers?
The tv in our room was very small. The bed was comfy but room in need of redecorating. The picture frames were pointless and looked cheap.
The bath needed regrouting. The mat on the floor made the room feel dirty, not sure if it was threadbear or it was meant to be shabby.
Could not open the window in our room although you could open the door that took you to the rooftop (not that anything there though).
There is a small children's area behind the hotel, not sure if it is meant to be in use or not as grass was quite overgrown. Also some empty beer bottles and glasses there. Again, so much potential.
The staff are all lovely and despite my comments above, I really would stay again and give this hotel another chance.
Would be nice to include a continental breakfast in addition to the hot breakfast. I missed some croissants or some cereal. Pre-ordering the hot breakfast made things quite seamless though, and again the staff were helpful.
The cost was for the night was reasonable but I have no doubt this will increase once they have renovated the place.

I will start by saying the young man on the front desk should be given a bonus for being pleasant and putting on a smile and providing a good customer service.

Now - the room and the building itself is awfully unclean. There was mould on the walls. The wallpaper is peeling off in the hallways and the lights have been turned off to hide it.

There was other peoples hair on the headboard and wee stains on the toilet.

The walls are paper thin and i could hear next doors dog breathing all night.

The doors all slam shut all night.

For what should of been a fun staycation has again reminded me why people dont holiday in this country when you can get much more for your money aboard.

With lockdown providing a window to deep clean the hotel this is such a missed opportunity to win a new generation of holidaymakers into visiting wales.

Disappointed

Arrived with 4 of my friends booked in and went to the bar and noticed menus on the table and people eating around us, so went and asked if we could order food only to be told we needed to book so they can’t cater for us , I said we wasn’t told we had to book food when we booked our rooms and got a reply of well we don’t have to tell you. (Great response). We wasn’t offered breakfast in the morning again great customer services. We asked if it was possible if they could ask the chef just to do do us something easy like burger and chips or egg and chips, the reply we got was sorry he is to busy they had a table of 5 and a table of 3 to cater for already 8 meals really.
We decided to order some food in and was told we can only sit round the corner to eat it again great customer services.
The rooms were very basic we had booked three rooms and spent a fortune in the bar but they could not provide us with food.
Who ever manages this hotel you really need to look into why your chef can only mange to cook 8 meals in one shift you must be losing a fortune as 5 of us would have ordered food and 5 breakfasts next morning.
Never mind your loss and we will keep on going past your hotel on our next visit.

1. At point of booking the site tells you its charged your credit card. It didn’t! They ran the card through on the day of arrival, but the card had expired, so they’d kept my card details for over a month. They rang on the day of arrival and said they’d be putting the rooms out for sale again, if didn’t ring back, which is difficult on a motorbike.
2. No food was available for guests as they were hosting a party at the hotel.
3. The room has to be something out of a 1950’s horror film. Disgusting in every sense of the word. Beds were like sleeping on rocks, dirty room, curtains that did not even cover the window and the window could not be secured.
4. The wing we stayed in looked like it was falling down.
5. Half the light in the room did not work and there was no hot water.
6. We were told we could eat a takeaway in our room, to which I said no, due to the state of the rooms, so eventually ate outside.
6. Breakfast was awful. The sausage still had a pulse and the rest was edible, but not what you expect for £10 per head.

I have never had cause to write a bad review, but his place needs closing down and the H&S Inspectorate needs to go and visit it. I will reporting this hotel to the relevant welsh local authority and be writing to the manager to gain a full refund. There was no where else to go, otherwise we would have left there and then.

I am fully aware of how hard the hospitality industry has been hit during the COVID pandemic, but there is no excuse for a hotel to be in the condition that this one is. I am utterly disgusted and pitty the staff that have to be on the receiving end of customers like me. It’s not their fault, but the owners, who should be ashamed of themselves. Do not go here.

I am really puzzled how anyone could give more than a one star review for this place. Our impression was the same as many other reviews dating back more than two years - public areas were ok but the bedrooms were awful. Not just my room but the rooms of three other family members. The downie cover and towels were (I think) clean. Unfortunately the downie itself had unpleasant brown stains. The bathroom was so dreary and dated. It wasn’t as clean as it should be to the extent that I skipped having a shower.
What really annoys me are the stories given to guests on arrival. ‘We are upgrading the hotel and working through the rooms’. Well I saw four rooms and they were all awful. Why has it apparently taken so long to upgrade the place? Or is it possible that little if any work is being done but the unsuspecting guest won’t find out till they’re there? The cost per night was £85 and they had the cheek to charge another £10 for breakfast.
I was well and truly ripped off.
Oh, and the WiFi is pathetic.

The unfortunate experience of staying at what I have dubbed the 'hotel of horror'. Having based booking upon the information and images on their website, and with the availability of 2 consecutive nights stay for a twin bed room (which was lacking for many hotels in Wales for the dates we were travelling).

Upon arrival we were greeted by sewerage water pooling and running across the carpark. That should have been the first sign to not proceed further.
The reception area, bar and restaurant look decent enough. Being requested to pay for your entire stay upfront, before being told which room you are in, should also be a warning sign.
Going through the fire doors to go up to your rooms.... threadbare blue carpeting on the creaking stairs, broken banister, worn out chest of drawers, dirty windows, peeling wallpaper with mould spots under the wallpaper.

The room was less than desirable. Dirty seats, worn out linoleum on the bathroom floors, had to clean the toilet seat with alcohol sanitising wipes. The bed covers and base covers with stitching coming undone, a pillow inner that clearly had seen better days. The wall paper behind the beds looked like either eaten by fish moths or some intense headboard activity. Ivy had grown in through the window (and you could see where it had been removed) and was still covering part of the glass.

The walls are paper thin, so expect to hear everything happening in the room next-door to yours.

The food in the restaurant was not bad, however a bit overpriced for what it was for dinner.
You place your order for breakfast on a page with your room number - selecting from set items which you would like.

We went down at 08h30 for breakfast, to be "greeted" by the most rude and obnoxious morning/day manager. He got verbally aggressive when we were basically accused of not placing our order for breakfast the night before. He didn't even query which room number we were staying in. He kept escalating the situation and making his bad morning and work situation into our problem for basically DARING to come down for breakfast before 09h00.
For telling us the cook (and i use the term loosely) had only arrived - when we were served our food it was like leather for bacon, some awful 'sausage' that looked as it it had been cooked the day before and reheated. A hash brown that clearly came from a box and was like sponge, and we managed to be served both over and undercooked eggs.

If I could have found an alternative form of accommodation (and believe me we looked over the course of the day) we would not have stayed the second night.

Avoid this place! It set a bad example for an international and local tourist.

Where do I start with the accommodation. we could only allow ourselves 1 night out of the 2 booked due to the extremely poor rooms. Leaking radiators leaving damp marks on the carpets and marks in the bathroom. The rugs in the rooms did not fit and were bunched up. Showers from the 70's and springs coming through the mattresses. The dingy walkways to the rooms hid the state of the carpets and to be honest, I dont know how elderly customers manage to get up the stairs with the stair covers covering the threadbare steps... The staff are great and very attentive and my credit goes to the young guy who had to serve and cook the breakfast as the chef went off sick. It seems money has been spent on the restaurant but then ran out. The staff deserve better. When we left our keys there was no-one on reception to give our thoughts to but we have emailed and probably wont get a reply and a refund of the second night.

Awful experience, we went for a meal as some family had been there for Sunday lunch the week before and enjoyed it. We were pre warned that if we ordered food at 7:30 we’d get it by 8:15 at the latest. They finally took the order at 8:00, didn’t tell us that they had none of the 4/8 starters ordered just brought out a substitute with the rest of the starters, didn’t ask if anyone had any allergies to anything in the substitutes. Fried mushrooms cold in the middle. Manager came over and said our mains would be out in 5 mins - who wants a main straight after a starter. The manager was very defensive and aggressive, kept stating there was a function on in the other room, when we asked what it was, apparently we were rude.. we suggested maybe next time they employed extra staff to keep the normal restaurant customers happy, this did not go down well
We will definitely stick to using other wonderful restaurants on the island and not return here

Yes. This is only close to the road bridge but is in fact about 40/35 mins walk from there. Best to drive down to Menai Bridge and park up then walk back up to the suspension bridge. Good luck.
