We spent 4 days at Brightham house with Alistair, Scott and the gorgeous Lola last week. Our trip started with a helpful email informing us of the Covid regulations at Brightham, the local restaurants ( so we could book early) and the surrounding beaches to visit. We duly made restaurant reservations and planned our days. On arrival, we were met by Alistair and Scott and Lola, their poochon. I have to admit fell in love with Lola and we enjoyed daily cuddles. The decor was so quirky and art deco, with the dining room having a sort of a mediterrean feel. There were cosy little corners and the bar area had so much atmosphere. You made your own drinks, following all the hygiene rules, then you wrote your purchase in a little book with your room number in it. It almost felt historical and Alistair and Scott showed trust to their guests. This extended to the courtyard, which had sofas, chairs, a water fountain and a hot tub. The breakfasts were cooked by Scott, a professional chef. Hubs and I have travelled all over the world and the hotel is always an important part of our stay, plus the breakfasts. Scott's breakfast comes top, out of all our travels. His breakfasts alone are worth a stay .

We stayed over Christmas with our dog and Scott and Alistair could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They patiently provided advice on where to go and how to get there, thanks to them we made the most of the area and saw some beautiful places. The dog friendly restaurants they recommended were all lovely.
The Brightham House decor is very original and creative, there are Brighton vibes everywhere you look and the rooms are very cosy. The living room area with woodburner and large TV screen is available for guests to use and they also have a 'help yourself' bar.
Breakfast is excellent (I tried the full Devon, Brightham mushrooms and Continental) and the courtyard outside with hot tub is very relaxing and well kept.
Parking at the back of the property is very convenient and wi-fi worked fine throughout our whole stay.
We had a lovely time and would not hesitate to recommend Brightham House to our family and friends (and beyond!), Scott and Alistair take B&B into another level!

Scott and Alistair were the perfect hosts.
We were offered tea or coffee on our arrival, before being shown to the Pavillion room. This was a lovely clean and spacious bedroom.
What I did notice was that the TV remote had been sanitised and wrapped in a clear plastic bag.
We had a dinner reservation for the evening and Scott rang around several taxi companies to help find someone who could pick us up when needed.
We also made use of the hot tub on our return which Scott made sure was ready on time. A great way to relax those aching muscles after long walks along the beautiful coastal paths.
Loved the honesty bar. You write down in a book what you consume.
Breakfast was amazing. The porridge creme brûlée was yummy and the freshly made american pancakes with fresh fruit was divine.
All in all a perfect stay. We even wanted to stay another night but sadly they were fully booked.
Will definitely return. Thank you Scott and Alistair for a memorable stay.

I stayed here with my sisters for a little break and we were welcomed by Scott and Alistair with tea and warmed scones with jam and cream - delicious. We were then shown to our beautiful rooms all individually designed and themed with immaculate high quality bedding, towels, bathrobe and slippers. The breakfasts are outstanding with so many choices all freshly cooked by Scott and coffees and teas served by Alistair.
There is the fabulously themed honesty bar to enjoy drinks and a beautiful relaxing courtyard garden with a hot tub to the rear which we did use and enjoy with of course some prosecco!
Brightham House is in an excellent location and we enjoyed a walk along the cycle/walking path into Salcombe. Alistair and Scott will happily help and advise on places to visit and how to get there.
I can recommend the "Tapas" night held here on a Thursday night with super food, excellent atmosphere and service and not far to go out too or get home!
I could go on and highly recommend staying here and thank you Scott and Alistair and of course we will be back.

From the minute we booked until the end of our stay, Scott and Alistair couldn’t have been more helpful, attentive and welcoming. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable and we loved all the quirky finishing touches... and all the ‘Nick knacks’! The B&B really is a unique and special place to stay - every room and the outdoor area is a ‘feast for the eyes’! We were so grateful to be able to bring our dogs with us, who were made to feel just as at home as we did. The most difficult decisions to make were what to choose for breakfast! We enjoyed everything on the menu over our 3 day stay... and think the American pancakes are an excellent addition this season! The icing on the cake was the Tapas Fusion evening, which happened to fall on our wedding anniversary. Scott and Alistair were the perfect hosts and everything was cooked to perfection with fabulous flavours. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area and appreciated tips on where to visit, as well as restaurant recommendations. We would love to return in the near future and just wish it was a little closer to Yorkshire! Thank you so much for a gorgeous, relaxing stay - it was really was memorable.

We stayed here just after the re-opening and were very impressed with the level of hospitality given to us by Scott and Alistair (and Lola of course)!

We were made to feel at home from start to finish, and really appreciated all of the help in recommending and booking local restaurants for us, especially given the uncertain nature of opening hours during coronavirus. On that note, it was also clear that a lot of effort had gone in to ensure guests stayed safe, with plenty of measures taken to help guests feel comfortable in the current climate.

The breakfasts were exceptional and certainly the best we can remember ever having, and the decor of the hotel & rooms was stylish and clearly thought about in great detail. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the whole Salcombe region. We would definitely recommend and will visit again if ever back in the area, and thank you Scott and Alistair for a lovely stay. Lili and Laurence :)

We had a lovely stay at Brightham House, before we arrived Scott and Alastair sent through their tips for for great restaurants and what to see. On the day of arrival we received a text with great instructions on how to find the hotel and where to park. Scott and Alastair are very welcoming and on hand to give great advice on what is on in the local area.

The hotel is located in a lovely quiet village close to Salcombe, there are a couple of pubs and shop in the garage with a cash machine.

Breakfast at Brightham House is amazing with plenty of choice on the menu and supplemented with pastries, cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Absolutely delicious.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and decorated beautifully with coffee machines and tea and lovely bathrooms with a great shower and lovely big fluffy towels.

We would highly recommend staying here and would love to come back in the future.

Located in Malborough about 10-15 minutes drive from salcombe or 40-50min walk down hill on a beautiful scenic route (bus available too).
The bnb itself is very fun and tasteful in style and every room has a different theme. We stayed in the Brighton Rocks room.
The bathroom has great products available by Rituals.
A lovely touch was how much plant life there is in the hotel and in the conservatory area (dining area). We had great chats with the hosts about everything and the plants, at the end of our stay they gifted me a small succulent which is now in my living room reminding me of my stay.

The hosts Scott and Alisatair are lovely, super friendly and have really helpful for tips for the area. One of their recommendations for food was the Crabshell Inn in Kingsbridge which was fab! The breakfast at the B&B was really high quality food, made well and lots of options available. They even had cake and tea to welcome us on our arrival. It was a really nice touch! We definitely recommend this gem of a B&B and we can't wait to come back!

From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like you have stepped into your dream Pinterest board! Scott & Alistair have the most beautiful taste and no attention to detail is spared. From board games by toasty fires, a beautiful bar with sweet treats, a wood fired hot tub and waterfall showers, you will feel pampered from start to end. The booking process is seamless - texts with directions and parking tips, emails with things to do and lovely places to eat. We followed a recommendation for dinner and it was fantastic.
After an amazing sleep under a cosy feather duvet and a waterfall shower with gorgeous Rituals products, you will be served a breakfast the Ritz would envy! Scott was formerly a Chef at a Bistro and has brought his talents to the breakfast table. Pastel de nata, porridge brûlée, every yumminess on toast you can imagine, fresh juices, cereals and beautiful coffee. All served in a conservatory straight from Alice in Wonderland.
Book now, you will not be disappointed. Also if you go direct they offer a great discount!

What a charming boutique B&B this is. From entering the garden, which was delightful, then to be greeted by Scott the host, was just a superb experience. The rooms were quite quirky, be so unique. Some of the items on display took us back to our youth - very 70's but tasteful. The bedding was so soft, as was the bed, pillows etc. Shower more than adequate.
Then onto the breakfast. 10/10. What a selection to choose from, we had a different breakfast every day that we were there, not wanting to miss one taste. The co-host Alistair was front of house, and knew everything about the menu, and was very pleasant and accommodating if you needed a specific breakfast.
All in all, and absolutely brilliant stay. We would hesitate to stay with Scott and Alistair again. Top drawer fellas.
