Five different styles of two and three double-bedroom lodges boast beautifully appointed state of the art kitchens, wood-burning stoves, flat screen TV, DVD, CD and iPod entertainment facilities, Porcellanosa bathrooms and Molton Brown toiletries. Contemporary outdoor hot tubs offer an extra treat beneath the forest canopy, on the decking of all lodges. Guests can explore acres of beautiful countryside around The Sherwood Hideaway on foot or bike. For a change of scene, a little further afield there's the Sherwood Forest visitor centre, Rufford Golf Club, Ollerton Watermill and Clumber Park (National Trust) where bike hire is available. We’ve been to Sherwood Hideaway twice. Our first visit was back in April 2016. We stopped in cabin 20 which is a two bed, rustic, pet friendly cabin. It was well equipped with everything we needed. The hot water system broke on the morning of our third day, but they fixed it within a few hours. I found the emails from Hoeseasons to be somewhat odd. It didn’t appear the wording had been updated since 2020 as there was lots of information about COVID, “contactless” check-in / check-out and sanitising the keys to the cabin etc… We had a nice time and so did the dogs. It was nice to get the dogs away somewhere quiet over the bonfire night weekend.

We came here on Monday after booking very last minute due to our home being flooded, to be honest anything warm and dry would have been acceptable. What we found was a beautifully clean, spacious and well furnished lodge in a lovely wooded glade. More than anything it was undoubtedly the staff that made all the difference, they were so sympathetic to our predicament and went above and beyond for us. This place is just down the road from our (flooded) house but that wouldn’t stop me from coming again, it’s like being a million miles away from everyday life. Thank you for doing our washing you are superstars

Just coming to the end of a weeks stay. Great location, lots to do around the area, some great pubs and cafes. Some beautiful parks and woodland walks. It's a real shame that the woodland walks can't be accessed from the site itself but it didn't stop us getting out and about. Lodges are very nice with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Nice hot tub to relax after long walks. Lots of takeaways deliver if you don't want to cook or eat out. Nice quiet site. We will definitely be back some day.

I went to Sherwood Hideaway with my adult autistic daughter and we loved it. Despite not having a car we were made to feel welcome and went to visit fantastic places Lorraine and her team were so friendly and gave us clear instructions to get to Ollerton roundabout so we could get buses to where we wanted to go. The hot tub and the accommodation were delightful and so comfortable. I will write to Nottingham highways to maintain and strim the footpath leading up to the roundabout. We had a lovely break thank you so much for your help and love ❤️

A nice clean lodge with comfortable furnishing. Comes with a hot tub and BBQ outside. The site is very peaceful. Definitely a good choice for getting away from it all. Nothing to do on site, which wasn’t a problem for us. Very quiet at nighttime.

Beautiful location, so peaceful and quiet. We had a rustic woodland two bed dog friendly, and the backdrop looking out to the woods was so relaxing. Loved the hot tub, loved the calm, nice cabin and extremely clean!! However there were quite a few things needing maintenance (dishwasher didn’t wash, bath plug didn’t plug, blind wasn’t attached to wall..). For these reasons, we didn’t think it’s quite “luxury” but could easily be with some TLC. Also be aware that there are a couple of inaccuracies in the website - you now cannot walk through the forest, and we didn’t have welcome wine as advertised. Nothing major for us, but these things make it not quite meet the luxury holiday.

We just LOVED every aspect of the lodges. We went as a couple with our little boy (1 year old) they provided a travel cot and high chair already situated in the lodge for when we arrived. First impressions … WOW 🤍 Stunning surroundings and just completely quiet, so close to amenities but definitely felt like you were completely out the way of it all. Could not hear the road at night whatsoever and was gorgeous just in the hot tub while our little one slept so still a lovely couples getaway even with kids. The 2 ladies at the lodge welcomed us with open arms and had all the information we could need, they also check on your hot tub every day and come and knock if they need to give you any information about works happening on the site which is a lovely touch. Bathrooms and Rooms just gorgeous, lovely warm water so just watch your kids washing their hands if they can reach (there are signs though saying the water is hot) Also just be careful cooking in the oven, we were amazed how fast and hot it cooked our food, we had a couple instances where the smoke alarm went off … oops! Opened the doors and it was fine though, it’s actually spurred us on getting a new oven as theirs was fantastic 😂 We were able to walk round freely with our little one and pup in tow without being disturbed and was so quiet I felt like we came at exactly the right time of year. I’ll post photos below but honestly just lovely and so much nature around the cabin in the day and night if you are quiet and look carefully. We saw many pheasants, wood peckers, rabbits, hares, a hedgehog, bat and a couple owls. Just beautiful and cute little walks round the estate also if you don’t want to hop in the car right away. They make you feel like your own lodge is private with specifically planted rows of little bushes and trees and also privacy fences next to your hot tub. I think we’ve definitely found our home away from home and shall be sharing it with our friends and family for a yearly getaway we think and also there’s opportunities to buy the lodges! All in all just fantastic. We can’t sing their praises enough. Thank you ever so much and hopefully see you soon ! The Sutherlands x

As we drove into the hideaway (nearly missing the entrance) we could sense the beautiful environment. There is a lodge (Reception) where it was very quick, you just gave your name and that was it. Our lodge was beautiful, cannot remember the name but it was the couples one. Everything was clean, the lodge was decorated so elegantly. The kitchen had all the usual supplies and bathroom was stunning, The hot tub was amazing at night. My only concern would be the security, i didn't see any gates or barriers up in the night, which worried me that anyone could drive into the complex at night. It seemed very open to the elements. The staff are wonderful and helpful and i would definitely return.

We are currently staying at the site, the lodges are lovely and very we equipped in a beautiful setting, we do feel a little more flowers and bushes between lodges and around the site wouldn’t do a miss and although there is plenty for families to do nearby, a children play area of sorts would be very beneficial. It’s also sad that visitors to the site no longer have access to the Thornsby Estate for woodland walks. But all in all would definitely recommend and enjoy our stay.

Dear Debbie M, Many thanks for your review. Sadly the walkways have been closed by Thoresby when the site was sold, though there are many wonderful walks nearby to take advantage of which we are always happy to assist in guiding guests to. The landscape of the site is very much left to nature (with us tidying some elements here and there) so if there are no flowers this is down to nature itself. Same goes for the childrens play area. we wouldn't look at putting this into the site as it is an area to escape and explore, though we appreciate all of your feedback. Hopefully you'll choose to return again in the future when seeking some R&R. Kindest regards, All the team
