Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed as a family of four, 2 adults and 2 young children. The cottage is stunning and has everything you need. It is clean, tidy and has lovely bedding and towels provided by the owners. Our children loved the playground on the hill and the view from up there is gorgeous. We also loved the fact there were toys, books and games … lots to keep the children occupied. Loads to do in the area. We will be back!!! Thank you Sara and family for being wonderful hosts.

Lovely little cottages, very clean. We booked both cottages, I think cottage 1 is the nicer cottage, it feels brighter, more updated and homely, however cottage 2 is more spacious and much better suited to a family with young children. Both have nice gardens and we really appreciated the adjoining gate which allowed our young children to go between both cottages safely. Both cottages kitted out with an excellent selection of books, dvds, and games to suit a variety of ages. We loved the play area at the top of the field and the kite provided. They've recently been taken over by new owners who hopefully will make some updates, the hob and oven are old electric appliances, they get extremely hot and I was worried about little (and big!) fingers getting burned easily. Didn't meet the owners but communication was excellent and we really appreciated the welcome basket on arrival.

The location was situated off a main road with amazing views looking out to Somerset Levels and Mendip Hills, sheep grazing in the fields. The cottage had everything you needed for your stay, spotlessly clean. Had an outside seating patio area where we were able to bbq.as we were very luck with the weather. Central to visiting Cheddar Gorge and lots of places to visit for bird watching. We have come home feeling very relaxed after having a lovely stay at Ashton Cottages.

We stayed for 3 nights in cottage 1 and were greeted by a cute cat on our arrival (luckily we had some treats with us ;-) The cottage is spacious and was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipped and if the weather had been nicer we would have enjoyed sitting in the enclosed garden. Even though a busy road is nearby you don't hear a sound at night and in case you suffer from a snoring partner, Ashley is ready to help with extra bedding to prepare the second bedroom :-) if we ever need a place to stay in this area again, we will choose Ashton cottages!

One of 2 holiday cottages in grounds of owners' house. Very pretty cottage, spotlessly clean, bright and fresh throughout. Lovely 180 degree view from hill at side of house. Road noise is audible but not to the extent that it is a problem. Friendly cat came to visit us daily and even accompanied us to the top of the hill where we all chilled out and enjoyed the early autumn sunshine. We were in desperate need of rest and relaxation and we found both at this cottage. Good location for Glastonbury, Wells, Street and Cheddar though we found Cheddar to be rather run down these days with lots of shops and pub closed. Would love to stay at Ashton cottages again.

Went to Ashton Cotages about 7/8 years ago with two grandchildren in tow. Decided to have another break there this time on our own, and we weren't disappointed. Still the same, like home from home, clean and a lot of personal touches. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful break in the country but within a few miles of lots of places to visit. Tiggy the cat was still there and visited us regularly.

We have stayed at Ashton cottages a number of times over the years and it never fails to impress. High quality, comfortable accommodation which is always extremely clean. Quiet surroundings with plenty to do locally including walks and cycling as well as places to visit. The owners are always welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend.

Ashton Cottages Been staying every year for 9 years. First impressions then 2006 the same as this visit 2015 this is Not a pretentious place, just relaxing and stress and worry free excellent and not over cluttered It always smells fresh and clean ,with some very thoughtful welcoming extras:- flowers, tea tray with biscuits or cake and milk in the fridge . The owners go above and beyond in every way to, as always be very helpful and available if needed and are amazing. Thank you! appreciated . Cheddar gorge is a sight one can never tire of and one should not..(if you are brave try caving never to be forgotten) Wedmore is a wonderful village and the village shop amazing, full of excellent produce local and good!!! Glastonbury is magical especially from the top of the Tor on a clear day , you certainly find some special gifts in the shops. Plenty of seaside towns to visit and relive childhood memories or behave like a kid. A bit further afield is Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral both inspiring places. At the end of a tiring day to return home to Ashton cottages is home!! Hopefully here is to another 9 years well worth it..
