My wife and I stayed at La Louviere for just one night on our way down to the Loire - it being a very convenient stop from the ferry arriving from Portsmouth at 1530. The house and gardens are delightful - the house is very big, exquisitely furnished and wonderfully comfortable; the garden is very large - it was totally...

We stayed for one night and thought we'd found heaven! Alain and Isabelle were the perfect hosts and you felt like honoured guests in their beautiful home. The swimming pool area was a highlight as well as the expansive grounds. The house is elegantly appointed and we enjoyed eating dinner out on the terrace after a drink on the lawn....

We stopped over night on our trip down to Provence. What a glorious spot this is - the most beautiful of houses set amidst wonderful grounds, in the heart of the French countryside. Alain, our host, was most welcoming. He speaks excellent English having travelled a good deal in his business life. Our room was in the roof and delightful...

We had a superb 3 night stay at La Louviere earlier this year in May. As you enter the gates to this beautiful retreat - you can't quite believe how gorgeous it is! When we visited in May unfortunately we had mainly rain - but that didn't detract from the stunning surrounds. Extensive gardens with a lake and a tiny...

We stayed just one night at La Louviere to break up a journey to the Vendée. It's a beautiful property, immaculately furnished and the hosts are very welcoming. We travelled with three children across two families. Children are well accommodated with an early tea and lots to see and do in the grounds, but it is a tranquil place so...

Everything about this place is wonderful and we wished we had had longer (we just stopped off for one night on way down south). The house is beautiful, set in stunning countryside. The pool is small but heated (which my husband particularly appreciated) and set in a lovely walled garden. The rest of the gardens are stunning- with a lake,...

A stay at La Louviere is like stepping into a page from House & Garden magazine and indeed it has featured in this and many other European design publications. We stayed here for two nights on our journeys to and from the south west of France via the Caen ferry and it proved the most wonderful restorative break. Delightful and...

Our visit dates back from october 2008. A short stay. But one to remember. This amazing country house greets you. Silently, as you will discover, in all of her charm and splendor. But always with respect to whom comes to visit. Overlooking her garden as a 'Grande Dame', she gracefully hides her secrets. Unless you enter, revealing her beauty, hidden...

We stayed two nights in a lovely room. The whole house is beautifully decorated and you feel very much at home. Alan recommended a different restaurant each night both of which were good. We took tea in the garden 'hut' that overlooks the small lake, the gardens are also kept wonderfully. The 'Financier' cakes for breakfast were delicious as was...

We stayed here for a night en-route from Calais to Brittany and the only wish we have is that we could have stayed longer. The house and grounds are absolutely amazing, and the dinner Isabelle cooked for us was very high quality. If we are ever looking to stay in the area again we would definitely return.
