A very cosy tavern rather than a hotel with lots of character (log fires) and very attentive staff. Rooms are comfortable, bed very comfortable with tea coffee, telly. The only downers were my mother had to change rooms twice due to minor faults i.e. radiator not working. Our room 217 was fine except the shower pressure was terrible. The rest...

On reviewing this Hotel i want to be very fair both to future Guests and to the Staff of the Hotel who were all exemplary and deserve more support from the Owners who need to spend more money on the place. Stayed 1 night with husband and it was 1 night too long. Upon arrival we waded through people stood in entrance way smoking. Given our room 216 promptly. It was cold on arrival with no extra heater in room, 2 single beds pushed together, wallpaper coming off the walls with what looked like damp in the corner. It just looked...

The staff were very friendly & helpful despite us being a little difficult wanting to change rooms at the last minute. The evening meal was fantastic...

Stayed at The George Hotel for two nights. We booked this last minute, but I was pleasantly surprised. Arrived late on the Friday and enjoyed a drink in the bar. Room was very spacious. It was very warm which was pleasant after coming in from the cold, but very hot during the night. (irrelevant I know) Bathroom facilities were good,...
