We enjoyed our stay in Buddha's Garden — little place just behind Ashvem/Morjim Beach. It simple, cozy, non-touristic at all. Shibu is amazing host — smart and witty conversation partner. Everything is basic but with a very nice touch. Don't expect something extraordinary — just tranquil and chill garden with great vibe and nice price. Nit for families though, more like for solo/couple travellers.

So the pros are: 1. 2 minutes walking from the beach (its not right on the beach) 2. Very green and peaceful 3. The staff makes an effort to be friendly Cons: 1. Very very basic rooms. Not well insulated so gets cold at night. 2. There were ants in our room. 3. The light in the room was very dim so you couldn't see much. 4. The curtains are not proper so in the morning, you cant sleep in if you want because the entire room gets very bright. 5. You can hear the music from the beach shacks till early hours of the morning. 6. Our bathroom didnt have a roof nor did it have hot water. 7. Our bed was dirty when we first entered the room and the room didn't have a dustbin. My biggest pet peeve was the hot water. Instead of telling us there was no hot water in our bathroom, the staff told us to switch on the geyser and wait on the first day. After waiting for a while, we took a shower with very cold water. The next day we took some hot water from the kitchen in a bucket. On the third day, when i went for hot water, the owner told me to use the bathroom in another room and said "I've just cleaned it so dont make it dirty". Firstly it was his fault that our bathroom didn't have hot water and then, he had the gall to tell us this! Not cool.

Run by charming people, right off the beautiful beach, each hut is different. This is not luxury accommodation, but it is special and inexpensive. Most huts have a little porch and there are also a few other lounging areas tucked here and there among the greenery. In fact, I think the hut we stayed in for most of our stay is the one in the picture. There are traditional painted murals on the outsides of the buildings, some of which are made of wood and some of woven palm and reeds. There are fans to help the ocean breeze pass through and mosquito netting is over the beds. Beds were comfy and I felt very safe both for myself and my belongings. It was very peaceful and not so noisy as some places on the beach. Guests are from all over the world. The ocean was fantastic and not too strong--good for kids too. Restaurants and stalls line the beach. I absolutely loved it there, but it won't be for everyone. If you are more into a party vibe or need more amenities, look elsewhere. Buddha's Garden hosts yoga retreats and the atmosphere is more serene and laid back.

Buddha's Garden is amongst those places which are more suitable for long stays instead of short ones..It's very near to morjim beach which is a very quiet and clean beach..Proximity to restaurant like La Page is a big advantage. Shibu was not there when we visited but he definitely sounded like a good fellow with guest's interest at heart when we talked to him on phone.. The only thing which we thought could be improved there was that not anyone should be given room there. One random guy staying there came to ask for a cigarette in middle of night to our cottage and when we told him we don't have them, he starting abusing and throwing stones at our cottage..Shibu and guardians were very supportive though as they asked that guy to leave immediately.. But this incident made us anxious.. Also I felt the bathrooms can be renovated a little..but they are still nice and cute..

This is a place located right next to the beach but without the hustle. Modest, Eco huts. Friendly people around. Nice huts (not fancy). Painted well. Place to do a bit of yoga, sit around, laze about. Perfect for a quaint getaway. And yet, within quick distance of places to eat, shop...

There aren't ebbing good things to say about this place. Stumbled upon it while walking around. It's relaxing, spiritual, and loved. The proprietor, shibu, is an amazing person and the love he puts into the place shows all over. The rooms are great and beds have mosquito bets, it's close to the beach, but still quiet. Just go see for yourself!

As said in the website, modest eco huts are what the accomodation is. There are a total of 10 double bedded huts with attached loos (except 1 hut where the loo is outside but exclusive to it). The bed predominantly takes up most of the room space. All beds have a mosquito net. There are a few open shelves, rustic wooden for keeping your stuff. The huts are clean and service given every 3 days. There is abs no luxury,so pls do not expect that. The toilets are open to the sky and have foliage and small creatures which abound. Some have instant hot water showers. All huts have a little sit-out in front of them. The surroundings are lush and green, the huts were built around the foliage and I had a lovely coconut tree right next to my WC in the bathroom ! The 4 huts facing the sea,are nice and bright and made of wooden slats. The others are made of thatch and are rather dark, this would be to keep them cool. During my stay only for a couple of hours in the afternoon I missed a fan. Yes there are no fans and no ACs. A pedestal fan can be provided if you ask. I went during Christmas and Nyear's when rates in Goa are 3 times the normal. I found Buddha's Garden & Shibu on the net. Shibu offered me an ok rate of 1800/- for this period, without taking an advance, which was extremely trusting of him. He is a kind man and not out to rip you off. It is a safe place for single women. My only crib was locking up valuables in the room as there are no Safety boxes. The huts though are lockable and safe.Shibu offered to keep anything of great value in his room if required. In Goa if you are going to be a beach bum, then pls don't carry anything that needs to be locked up. Unlimited tea made from the holy basil - tulsi is available all the time. You can also fill up your drinking water bottles from the Big Bottled drinking water available in the kitchen. Cash can be got from ATMs which are a 10 minute or so ride away. Buddha's Garden is a 2 minute walk from the beach. You can dine at the expensive La Plage or L'atelier which are a walking distance away or the reasonable Here & Now,Sunways and other shacks all very close. Meals or breakfast can be pre-ordered with Shibu at reasonable rates. A 2 min walk to the main road brings you to a well stocked supermarket. This is an unpretentious no frills honest place to stay.

We found Buddha's Garden by chance and felt incredibly lucky as it's the most amazing chilled little place you could ever dream of. Shibu is a very gracious and honest host. He runs the business with love and passion and has a wonderful small team of staff who all make you feel very welcome. It's such a relaxing gem of a place, set back from the beach but only a minutes walk from the waves. There's always some complimentary herbal tea on the brew at the little open air dining area and its a great place to sit and relax whilst getting to know other guests. The garden is stunning and each hut has its own unique charm, not high end luxury, more like rustic beach hut style. I took part in the daily morning yoga classes with Shibu, he is a great teacher, patient and fun. We spent New Year there and it was a fantastic choice. There's a real community spirit and we all helped cook up a special dinner together and celebrated the New Year with fine food and chat. We met people who have been returning to Buddha's Garden year after year as it's just that kind be of place, once you discover it you just have to go back. A very special place indeed. Thank you Shibu for making our Goan New Year and time at Buddha's Garden so special. We hope to return in 2016.

Buddha's Garden is an exotic fantasy sanctuary filled with beautiful accommodations, delicious food and kind and talented people. This is the only place to stay when visiting Goa. Actually the is the place to visit when visiting India. I still miss the food. I still miss the feeling of waking up among fruit and palm trees surrounded by charming huts and looking forward to the talented body work they provide. There are a couple places to do yoga as well. Such an incredible place.
