The Schooner hotel is in a great location on the 'strip' of St Marys with lovely harbour views. We booked a stay here to celebrate our anniversary at the beginning of June. We had a top floor room with a kitchen, microwave and cooking facilities. The room was very clean. We chose to dine in each of our four evenings as the menu was brilliant. You book your evening meal at breakfast time to avoid waste and this really works. All evening three courses were fantastic, fine dining at such a great price of £15.00. The wine menu was also great value for money. We would recommend a stay here!

If you want somewhere on St Marys, that is. centrally located, has a lovely welcome, nice food, and good views of the harbour from its front facing rooms, we’d recommend Schooners . In particular, the evening meal we had there was really nice and great value. And even better, if you could have a table in the harbour facing part of the dining room, rather than the (rather grim) street facing side. One downside …. We’d not recommend Schooners, if you have the misfortune of getting a room next to someone who snores, because you’ll hear them. But of course, you’ll only know that once it’s too late !

We booked a superior double on the 2nd floor with a sea view. Although the room was not large, it was clean, had a comfortable bed, and a good size en-suite shower room. Unusually, there is a nice lounge on the top floor. While it didn't bother us, the stairs in the hotel are quite steep and narrow. The hotel is in a good location in the town and a short walk to the quay for boats to other islands.
We booked B&B, and also evening meals (for convenience really), though there is not an evening meal available on a Sunday. We were pleased when Joanna wrote to us well before our holiday to suggest we should immediately book an evening meal somewhere for the Sunday as she knew that restaurants were full with bookings for weeks ahead. The breakfasts were good and the 3-course evening meals at the Schooner's hotel excellent, reasonably priced, and served efficiently and with a smile by Joanna's team.
After a couple of days disaster struck when my wife fell on a coastal path and broke her wrist. We had to curtail our holiday, attend A&E on the mainland and return home. We were very grateful to Joanna for helping us with the emergency arrangements to get us off the island. This experience showed us how essential it is to have travel insurance, which we did, when visiting the Scillies.

After visiting Scilly for over 25 years we were so pleased to find Schooners which ticked all our boxes for a good place to stay. Friendly staff, fantastic meals ,a dramatic view from our bedroom and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Added to all this was the location , on one beach a hundred yards from another and just a short walk to the quay offering trips to all off islands. We have booked next year and are planning the year after.

The location is perfect; right on the beach with a beautiful view of the harbour, very close to restaurants, shops and cafes, yet in a quiet street.

My room didn’t have a sea view, so I’d recommend you ask for one because I wish I had. The view is to die for but the only time I saw it was at breakfast.

The room was absolutely spotless. It was fine for one, but would have been a bit tight for two people with suitcases. It was light and airy. There was tea, coffee, milk and hot chocolate provided, with top-ups available from the landing. The shower worked really well with plenty of hot water every time and nice toiletries were provided. TV in the room. Wi-fi was faultless. There is a guest lounge on the top floor with wonderful views.

The breakfasts were very good and the evening meals were amazing. The chef is brilliant. If you decide not to eat in for any reason there are other options nearby.

All the staff were excellent. The check-in was perfect and the lady on reception was very polite, friendly and helpful all the way through my stay. The staff who served the food and drink were always efficient, cheerful and polite.

Schooners is a great place to stay and I would strongly recommend it. If I get back to St Mary’s I will definitely try to stay there again.

Our first visit to the Isles of Scilly and what a find this lovely little hotel turned out to be!
Our room was very comfortable with stunning views - I felt I was practically on the beach. I don't usually pay extra for a view but I'm so glad we did. The front of house team of Joanna and Jon were so friendly and helpful and the food was really excellent. We ate 4 nights at the hotel and 4 nights in other restaurants and, whilst all the meals were very good indeed, the nights we ate "in" were the best - and the best value too! The evening menu changes daily and you choose at breakfast whether to eat in or out.
Schooners is also really well placed for the quay and boats to the off islands and for lots of other eateries.
This hotel is so relaxed and friendly whilst still being really on point for service. A delight!

Great team/hospitality always. Wonderful harbour views and bedroom facilities. Breakfast was always a delight and served with a smile every morning. I’ve marked it down one star as the building is quite old I could hear a lot of noise from surrounding rooms.

My brothers and I stayed at the Schooners for 5 nights to celebrate that we are all now retired. We loved our rooms, all of which had lovely harbour views and we found the welcome of staff to be warm and friendly. The food was absolutely superb and this together with the views and the sound of the sea lapping against the beach from our rooms make it worthy of far more than its' 2 stars.

Our sea view room (6) was fine for our needs and we loved watching all the comings and goings in the harbour. The staff are delightful and the breakfasts good. We dined in four times and thought the three course dinners with coffee and a chocolate mint to finish were very tasty and good value.

My Husband and I visited here over the Easter weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was super and so well placed for all the amenities Hugh Town has to offer. Loved to be able to go for a swim at Porthcressa beach and quickly stroll back to the room afterwards to warm up in the shower!

Joanna on reception was fantastic, so friendly and efficient. Thank you for loaning out your beach towels, saved on luggage weight and space in the Skybus!

We stayed in room 4, which overlooked the town and was very quiet and peaceful.
Plenty of tea, coffee, drinking chocolate etc. all provided in the room, with top ups available on each floor.

The breakfast was delicious, super hot full English breakfast, plus continental with a variety of cereals, fruit and yoghurts. Really sets you up for a day of exploring!

Fabulous hotel and would not hesitate to come back and stay again!

Just over a mile from the airport. There is a shuttle service provided by skybus. You have to arrange pick up times with the drivers when they drop you off. There are also taxis available.
