Stayed here for 4 days in the low season. Really gorgeous, well cared for grounds and I loved my Bungalow house room that was open to the air and jungle all around.
They have lovely 4 poster beds with mosssie nets, and the open showers...More
I spent 5 nights at Talalla and had a fantastic time. Having been on yoga retreats before, I would say this for me was a yoga holiday rather than a retreat, but still fab nonetheless. There were 3 fantastic yoga teachers, Melanie, Yes and Evy...More

Poor quality on every scale. Mandatory „service charge“ on ALL BILLS. Service was bad as was the food! Yoga, Pilates and other stuff offered at over the top prices! This is not a hotel to make you well but empty your wallet!

Just your ...no mini bar, television in rooms and your photo with your nice tie lets me know you chose the wrong type of accomodation
We are not a Hilton type hotel.
We initially booked the bungalow but the room was too small far from the common facilities and hot so paid and got ourselves upgraded.
The downstairs room facing the pool was lovely. No air con and the open windows means lots of bugs but the...More
I stayed for a week for the Surf and Yoga retreat - best decision ever! Travelling from NZ there are many surf and yoga retreats on offer in Australia, but I decided to look further afield and this is the place to be!

Lovely to hear from you!
You are welcome to use US dollars to pay for anything at Talalla Retreat, but we would recommend purchasing some Sri Lankan rupees for use outside of the retreat (don't want to be stuck un-able to buy a post-surf beer!)
Essentials like sunblock and bug spray are available from our on-site shop and from shops in the village. Our shop also sells swimwear and locally made clothes. Although you are likely to be visiting some surf shops on your outings during your retreat, we would recommend buying the clothes you will need before your arrival, just in case.
Hope this helps!
Looking forward to welcoming you, and do get in touch with any other questions.

Hi, I don't recall any encounter with the owner during the 10 days I stayed at the resort. But I did find her response to my tripadvisor review (which did not include any false comments, but was a simple recollection of my experience and views) very rude and have decided not to return to the resort because of it. My experience is definitely that the resort is not very accommodating when it comes to requests from customers (...and they say the fish stinks from the head). They simply stick to their rules, instead of providing first class customer service that makes people feel at home and want to return. If that is the kind of service you are looking to get, don't stay there.
