We had book for 2 days in intercontinental oman. The rooms are upstanding. The breakfast was so delight and amazing. The staff are very friendly and very humble. I'd like to stay here whenever i am in oman.
The staff are great and that is the best thing in the hotel, and the hotel lobby has a nice feel to it, but please don’t allow them to cheat you with their brand name. See my comments below and you will understand why.

No. The rooms are around a central quadrangle on several floors. Only one side was being done when I was there. And there was no disturbance or dislocation due to the refurbishment works. In fact,if you didn’t have prior knowledge of work going on,you wouldn’t notice a thing.
The existing rooms are not at all dirty. They are well let. Tired they probably are, but entirely liveable. The former will be of course be the rationale for getting the refurbishment and upgrade.
I would recommend the place. Don’t let the refurbishment story put you off!
