Podere Patrignone is a beautifully restored 15th-century villa in Tuscany. The estate is set on top of a hill reached by a long, winding private road, surrounded by 150 acres of forest, olives and vines, with uninterrupted 360 degree views over the valleys below. We’re 10 minutes from Castellina in Chianti and close to Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano. There’s a lovely pool with one of the best sunset views in Tuscany. This ‘agritusismo’ has 5 self-catering apartments, a large 7-bedroom Villa, and a lovely B&B.

Nine of us, four children and five adults, just returned from an Italian adventure of a lifetime. The highlight of our trip (agreed by all) was a wonderful week at Podere Patrignone with Simon, Verity and the boys. The beauty of the property and Tuscany can be viewed in photos,

Hey Aileen, Thank you for your lovely review! It was a pleasure having your families stay with us. You did a great job of testing many of the different kinds of cycling on offer in Tuscany, especially the road-riding and the e-bikes. I haven't tried e-bikes myself, but you made it sound like a lot of fun! It was lovely to meet you all, and we hope you'll return soon. S.

We recently spent two absolutely perfect, blissful, weeks at Villa Patrignone. Simon and Verity were our extraordinary hosts, welcoming us in every way. We stayed in La Tinaia, a small cottage on the property, surrounded by rosemary bushes, lavender, olive trees, the villa

My entire extended family (13 members total) spent a spectacular week in Chianti at this beautiful villa. We rented Villa Patrignone which featured 7 bedrooms each one with its own en suite bathroom, a comfortable living room, and a large kitchen with a huge family style table,

We had six couples here for a week. The most wonderful experience along with cooking class, wonderful evenings singing, drinking wine and enjoying loads of story telling. Beautiful location with a very quiet setting.

There are a couple of things that will keep Podere in the memory: the view of course. An absolutely stunning 180 degrees vista of rolling hills. And there then there is the family. Simon, Verity and their two boys are such warm and natural hosts. They couldn't have done more for

Good grief. I had no idea this section on TripAdvisor even existed, so I've only seen your question now. So sorry for the delay in replying. No, it's not essential to have a car if you're coming to Podere Patrignone, but it is highly advisable. We're only 10 minutes from Castellina in Chianti in one direction, and 10 minutes from San Donato in Poggio in the other direction, but there is very little in the way of public transport, and taxis are hard to find (and rather expensive - a taxi to Florence will cost around €70+). We have had several groups hire drivers to take them around during the day, but this is an expensive option for most people. If you have a car you have the freedom to explore all the lovely little towns and wineries all around us. I hope this helps other travellers considering Podere Patrignone. If you are looking for a faster response, why not try the Podere Patrignone Facebook page, or the "Friends of Podere Patrignone" Facebook group, where you can ask questions and get honest answers from other guests who have stayed at Patrignone in the past?
