My wife and I travel a lot but we realised earlier this year that we hadn’t had a holiday of pure relaxation since before the pandemic, so we decided it was time to plan one. We wanted good weather and the only time in our schedule that would work would be late August. That is the busiest time for tourism everywhere and we really didn’t want to be annoyed by children or noisy adult groups. So we started looking for adults-only hotels that might suit us and eventually found the Hotel Val di Sogno, which seemed ideal. Not only is it adults-only, but they don’t allow groups of more than six people, they don’t have wedding parties and don’t allow anyone who isn’t a guest to use their facilities, including the restaurant. I exchanged a few e-mails with Silvia who was very helpful in clarifying some details and so we went ahead and booked for a week. In summary, this hotel proved to be just perfect for the relaxing beak we wanted. It is located on a beautiful bay on Lake Garda, with views across to the mountains on the other side. It’s tranquil but not dead - you can sit and watch boats, windsurfers and stand-up paddle boarders coming and going and people swimming in the calm waters. The hotel and its grounds are right along the back of the beach, the restaurant looks straight out and all the rooms have this view too, so wherever you are you can enjoy the lovely setting. The hotel grounds are on two levels - a pool area, surrounding a large infinity-style pool with a swim-up bar, and a lower area along the back of the beach, with trees etc. In both areas there were plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for shade. Our room had a very large balcony with chairs and a small table and of course the wonderful lake view. The room itself was spacious and attractively furnished, with a bathroom area with separate toilet and clothes storage hanging spaces. Even the bathroom enjoyed the views through a large window between it and the bedroom (which at the press of a button could magically become “frosted” for privacy). Unfortunately, perhaps because of the very warm weather, the air conditioning didn’t seem to be powerful enough to keep us comfortably cool at night. Another time we’ll probably leave the window open instead as we do at home. We decided to have dinner at the hotel on our first night and found it excellent. The menu is fairly limited but everything we tried was of a very high standard so we actually came back for every lunch and dinner that we could (they close it on Wednesday evenings). As there are plenty of tables there is never any shortage, so you don’t have to make reservations - you just show up, find a nice table and enjoy your meal. The breakfast buffet is truly impressive: as well some hot items, such as freshly prepared omelettes, there was a huge range of delicious breads, pastries and cereals (including several different types of muesli), meats, cheeses and fruit. Coffee is self-service from a machine but really excellent - far better than the pots of coffee I’ve been given in many other hotels. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and service here at all three meals each day. There is a lakeside walk you can take to Malcesine, about a mile away. We did this one day but it was so hot, and Malcesine was so crowded, that we didn’t do it again but in cooler weather it would be very pleasant, with lovely views across the lake and of Malcesine itself, and would allow you to access shops and restaurants there or catch boats to other towns on the lake. The walk is mostly level but does involve a significant gradient up and down at the start. My wife uses a mobility scooter, which would not have made it back up this gradient if we’d walked back, which is one reason we got a taxi back (which the hotel kindly organised for us). There is a nice lakeside walk for a mile or so in the other direction too, which is almost completely level. As my wife has a mobility problem and relies on a mobility scooter to get around, I checked when booking whether this would be OK and Silvia very helpfully sent me photos of a couple of minor issues. In fact, inside the hotel everything is fine - all wide and level surfaces, two lifts - one of them quite large, a spacious bedroom with enough room to “park” and charge the scooter and a fully accessible restaurant etc. The shower in the room was large and easily accommodated my wife’s shower stool and there was a useful grab handle. Although not advertised as an accessible room, ours had everything we needed for accessibility. The only minor issues were outside, which Silvia had correctly warned us about in advance (for example, to get from the lower garden area to the pool involves a small step, which can only be avoided by going back in through the restaurant and reception areas, out into the car park and then back in through a side gate - it sounds bad but it’s really very quick and easy). The staff were all very welcoming and helped us with anything we needed during our stay, such as organising that taxi from Malcesine. Although a lot of their guests seemed to be German, all the staff spoke good English - giving me little opportunity to practise my Italian. Overall, we were very happy with our choice of hotel. It gave us exactly what we were looking for - a relaxed stay in a beautiful location, with great service. We are already planning to return for a week next summer.…

My wife and I have just spent 3 wonderful relaxing nights here. We have stayed in many lovely hotels all around the world but Hotel Val di Sogno is perfect in our opinion. Every single member of staff we interacted with was helpful, friendly, professional and attentive. The hotel is perfectly positioned in a small bay 10m from the lake and a 20 minute walk along the lakeside to Malcesine. The hotel grounds are lovely ….lush grass, herb gardens, trees and flowers with plenty of sun beds set in pairs well spaced out. The views are incredible. The pool was perfectly heated. Our room was very well laid out, scrupulously clean and felt individual. I could go on with the complements … suffice to say we hope to return very soon.

Such a wonderful hotel, with excellent staff in a beautiful and superb setting. We spent two weeks here in July/August 2023, having been before in 2018. We were worried it would not live up to our memory but actually it was even better. The hotel has recently been refurbished to an even higher level before and the food for breakfast and dinner continues to be excellent.

Out location is a top one here on Lake Garda; we do know, therefore we care about it every single day. The Val di Sogno® is more like a home for us: we like it comfortable, relaxing and nice. The simple elegance of the Mediterranean cuisine is a plus thanks its variety of flavours: a drop of local olive oil, a hint of rosemary of ourvegetable garden, a touch of garlic and a glass of excellent wine (there is a good variety here around) or a refreshing aperitivo drink. All of this, along with a breathtaking view of lake and mountains, will take you on an unforgettable journey. Do not let other 5 years pass to visit us again! We look forward to welcome you back. This hotel gets better each time - this is our 5th visit and we could not fault it! We travelled with another couple and we both had really lovely rooms - the location on Lake Garda could not be better, it is set on a small peninsula, away from the main road and every single room faces the lake. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding - superb choices, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere to enjoy a leisurely start to the day. We don't normally eat in hotel restaurants in the evening, but on our first night there was an incredible storm so we didn't really have much choice. We were so glad that we had to eat there as the food was superb and the service excellent - on our next visit, we will definitely choose to eat here. We love the gardens, pool and lake swimming. The location is nice and quiet and it is also a beautiful lakeside walk to Malcesine. One of our favourite hotels on Lake Garda - we will be back. We picked the hotel as it was adults only and we really needed a break after tough years at work! The hotel really lives up to and exceeds those expectations. It's about a 20 minute walk out of central Malcesine along the promenade but you could be a 1000 miles away from the hustle and bustle of tourism when you go through the door. You pick your own room at booking; I don't think there are any bad rooms to be honest! Staff are wonderful and would do anything to help. Food top notch but be aware the restaurant closes for a break on Wednesday night. Drinks in the garden, watching the boats in the bay, total relaxation. Those are my memories!

Having stayed at another 4* adults only hotel in Malcesine several times, this was our first stay at Hotel Val Di Sogno & we certainly weren’t disappointed. The Hotel sits directly on the Lake shore and provides uninterrupted views for miles. Staff are friendly, welcoming and committed to ensuring you enjoy your stay, without being intrusive. The standard of accommodation and cleanliness are excellent; choice at breakfast is plentiful; the ‘Bistro’ menu is available for lunch & dinner (with 2 ‘off menu specials’ also offered each evening) or you can enjoy a ‘pool side snack’ until late afternoon. Grounds are well maintained & they even grow some of their own vegetables! There are plenty of sun loungers for all guests with no reservation protocol - even at their busiest, you wouldn’t know anyone else was there! The Val di Sogno® is located 2 km south of the centre of Malcesine at the foot of Monte Baldos directly on the shores of Northern Lake Garda. The name is a promise that we try to fulfill every day: VAL DI SOGNO literally: Valley of Dream. We are happy we were successfull with you. Enjoyed our week in this excellent hotel. We had a great room which had a balcony with chairs and loungers and a view which would be difficult to surpass on Lake Garda. We went out every day by foot, bus and ferry but could quite easily have stayed and enjoyed the garden, pool and beach. Would need to price and experience other hotels to really be sure of value for money but found the property not lacking in any area. We don’t go back to the same hotel but would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the Malcesine area

Last year it was perfect. But this year its bad experience.. I had another reservation for next stay this year, but i would cancel it for sure. - malfunctioning air conditioning - lazy personal - closed pool bar everytime - absolutely lazy personal in restaurant After that all they told me “if you are unhappy there, you can go to another hotel”… Aircondition is unvailable on purpose they told me, because its saving electricity…. So, if you are looking for hotel, this is not a good choice :)

Definitively not a good choice for your parents and their friends who stayed with us and were so polite to express their disappointment by offending persons in their native language don’t realizing one of our staff members could understand what they were saying. Definitively not a good comprehension of our words during our midnight telephone conversations in English, which after reading your review here, were completely misunderstood. I agree with you: it has been a worse expereience. For your family and for us, too. I am sure you will find the right place where to enjoy a perfect holiday on Lake Garda.
