This is no four star hotel. The lobby and common areas are nicely done. However the room quality is Motel 6. Small rooms with ugly cheap furniture including a small chair that needed to be cleaned or reupholstered. Bathroom could barely fit one person. The walls and doors are so thin you hear everything in the halls and other rooms....

We stayed there twice during our trip. The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms quite comfortable. Prices were reasonable. We happened to be there during Corpus Christi, which was a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed Orvieto. Drawbacks: The Air Conditioning was, well…

We had a week between Florence and Venice, the weather was cold in Florence so we headed south. Orvieto was a great destination and we immediately took to the town. It being March, we weren't worried about locating accomodation, stopped at the tourist office and then went "hotel shopping." We, too, stopped in at the Maitani and found the same...

We turned up in Orvieto on speck and I checked out 2 other 4*hotels first that were decidedly unfriendly and uninhabited.
