Hotel Il Pellicano needs no introduction. There's a reason why royalty, both real and perceived, keep coming back here year after year after year. In a word: perfection. No detail is left unexamined and you'll be hard pressed to find a hotel that makes you feel more at home. The luxury is intoxicating. Enjoy it while it lasts...it will never...

My husband and I stayed at Il Pellicano for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. This was certainly the splurge hotel of our trip to Italy but we really felt we found heaven. The architecture, decor, landscaping, and physical location of the hotel are exquisite. Everything is impeccable but in no way stuffy. You can't help but feel...

Il Pellicano is a truly a dream destination. We visited in July, peak summer, and had a perfect stay. The rooms are lovely and fresh, bathroom was large and beautifully renovated, housekeeping and turndown were on point. We stayed in the Charlie Chaplin house and enjoyed the quiet, up the hill away from the sounds of the busy restaurants. Yachts...

Spend 4 days here on a recent trip to Tuscany and was wowed by everything this place has to offer. It's definitely off the beaten-track and well isolated from everything. The closest town is a 10 minute drive. The grounds, gardens, pool, service, food and ambiance is 6 star and you pay for it. Definitely a once in a lifetime...

This hotel is superb for luxury, service and location - with a fabulous relaxed vibe which makes you feel both wonderfully special and completely at home. A perfect, romantic and peaceful place for a honeymoon! Nothing was too much trouble for the charming staff, who were all Italian. Food was glorious too - we loved the breakfast where I could...

Relaxing, beautiful, revitalising... nothing much to do but watch the sea, bathe, eat and drink. Which is the point... It has the great luxury of simplicity - no fancy frills, no dressing up, few choices at supper (though plenty on the wine list), no urge to explore the area (you're kind of trapped in a ravine). Do get a room...

I have stayed at many fine hotels, however the Il Pelicano is right at the top. It has a vibe that I can't quite describe. Kind of bohemian, but elegant and refined at the same time. You kind of feel like a celebrity at this property. The staff is waiting for a way to make you comfortable and content. The...

The hotel overall is great, with very nice rooms, beautiful vistas, great access to the sea. The bar is very good and staffed by professionals. The Grill restaurant is good quality, easy going - nice place for lunch. The big let down is the 1 star gourmet restaurant, which doubles up as the venue for breakfast. It had 2 stars...

I needed A few days to relax after 10 very hectic days of traveling through Tuscany with my family. Il Pellicano was perfect. I will say that I was traveling alone, where most of the other guests were couples. That was slightly awkward but it didn't impact my stay. This is not a place where families bring young children. It...

Il Pellicano certainly has a rich history like many Italian seafront luxury resorts. What is so impressive about Il Pellicano is the teams commitment (I mean how many hotels have a 'creative director.') to maintaining the signature Il Pellicano vibe that is a meld of classic Italian luxury and vintage mid century cool (the hotel originally opened in 1965) that...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The elegant five-star hotel, located in Tuscany's Maremma region, was built in the mid-1960s as a love nest for Michael and Patricia Graham and it is today part of The Leading Hotels of the World. The home, called Il Pellicano as a tribute to the first time the couple met at Pelican Point in California, was initially a club for the Grahams' friends, but was subsequently expanded and opened to friends of friends. However, a few things remained the same: the pleasure of feeling at home and the glamorous and slightly retro atmosphere. The hotel's discrete luxury and the still-rugged Tuscan countryside attract the international jet set. Today, the cottages and the central building are suspended between the sky and the sea, with large rooms, windows and terraces where it's unclear where the indoors end and the outdoors begin. There are pathways and stairways, fragrant gardens and discrete corners, a restaurant with one Michelin stars and three Gambero Rosso forks, a heated sea-water swimming pool, a spa with a sea view to soothe both the body and the soul, and for those wanting to take a dip in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a white platform with chaise longue and immaculate parasols. ... more   less
