We chose Praiano because of the location--a smaller, quieter town but with easy access by public bus to the larger, more touristy towns of Positano & Amalfi. The hotel is owned & managed by the Lauretano family, who built the hotel in 1965. The elder Mr. Lauretano is still the primary pizza maker & keeps his vintage 1969 orange Fiats...

Stayed in Praiano and at this hotel for 6 days as a home base to visit the Amalfi coast. Much quieter and cheaper than staying in Positano or Amalfi but just a bus ride away from visiting the different towns on the coast. Hotel is charming and well situated on the main road, close to bus stops. The hotel is...

Nice and quiet Hotel with super friendly service. The Room is very basic and I really needed a fridge which was not included. The view from the Balcony is absolutely amazing! Good value for the money compare to the alternatives all over Amalfy coast. The Hotel located in Praiano which give you the possibility to walk to the marina where...

Perfectly situated with beautiful views, Open Gate Hotel is charming. Pasquale is very helpful. Our room had a great balcony, was perfectly clean and bathroom fine. Breakfast outside above the sea was perfect. Would stay again

Four night stay in September 2016 - had a great time! Praiano is a quieter location between Amalfi and Positano, Open Gate hotel is right on the bus route between the two, and the hotel itself is comfortable, rooms with terraces have great views, staff are friendly, dinner with good choice of local wines was excellent, would highly recommend. The...

We decided to give the restaurant at Open Gate yet another chance after two bad experiences there. The ordeal was intollerable Whenever we requested something ,the waitress rolled her eyes, smirked and walked away as if we were disturbing her ( we were one of the few tables in the restaurant). The less-than-mediocre pizzas arrived one at a time; the...

Lovely hotel nestling between road to positiono and Amalfi. This is a very charming family hotel run by a very obliging lady and her cousin. We were three in group of six who were vegetarian. The kitchen produced excellent vegetarian food off the menu without fuss.I highly recommend this Hotel will definitely stay here again

This was a very good find. It is perfectly positioned between Amalfi and Positano but surrounded by the beauty of Praiano. We had a lovely sea view room with a balcony which could be used for sunbathing which was an added bonus! The staff were very lovely and helpful and really made the stay more pleasant. Would definitely stay here...

This two star hotel really is the jewel in the Amalfi Coast Crown . I booked a 5 night visit for my husbands 50th birthday treat following other reviewers recommendations and we were not disappointed. Staff lovely , nothing too much trouble ; food wonderful - home cooked specialities ( we had to talk ourselves into dining elsewhere on one...

My wife and I returned to Hotel Open Gate again in 2016. As ever, the welcome is warm, the food delicious and the room spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Coming from Ireland to Open Gate and the hospitality of the extended Lauretano family is a holiday worth waiting for. 5 stars - no debate 😀
