We booked a week's stay (pensione completa) for our in-laws in September 2021. They stayed at the sea view room which are located on the side of the hotel. The feedback was positive on all aspects of their stay. We even dine with our in-laws for a day (lunch & dinner) at the hotel, and the food was great. The service, room, food, comfort was all above average. We really appreciated the prompt and professional communication with Franco too. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wish to visit Riccione.

Thank you to Franco and team for making our family's stay amazing. Greetings from the Rossetti family

We had an unforgettable stay at the REX hotel. This is a 3 star hotel with 5 star standards!
Prior to arriving to Rex our email correspondence with Franco, the owner, was extremely cordial and accommodating. We were going to Riccione to attend a 3-day sporting event. With our early evening arrival we noticed that Rex is located right on the beach front with a pedestrian area, no busy road to cross, no noise and ample parking. We were warmly greeted at the front desk, an airy entrance with views. Our 3rd floor sea view room, was neat and extremely clean, including the bathroom with hair dryer, toiletries, soft thick towels. Comfortable cotton sheets too! Plenty of closet space. Breakfast is buffet style, served downstairs, with a wide selection of fresh sweet and savory options also including plenty tasty fresh fruits, yogurt, muesli etc Any type of coffee you request is made for you and served at your table by two friendly and efficient attendants who are at your service and replenishing the buffet. Although we did not have young children, there is a play area conveniently located off breakfast area so the it never gets too busy or noisy. During our stay there were all age families and couples. Lunch and dinner are served upstairs in a large luminous room, if you don't want to bother with going out the cuisine at Rex is delicious. Our stay was so comfortable that we opted for the half board option on the second day. In addition to the menu options it offers a large salad bar as well as fresh grilled and roasted veggies. The Rex is a real 'find' in an otherwise touristy area. It is a self sufficient gem of a place driven also by it's family history, it's not just any hotel, this is visible by the care, attention and friendly expertise of the staff. Franco's great grandfather started the Rex hotel, there is a well done picture book of the the Rex story, and an exquisite display of wall photos of it's history. I think that is why they genuinely care for the customer at Rex...friendly professional service, fresh food and comfortable accommodation. Hospitality and high standards in service, have been part of their family culture. When we go back to Riccione it is the only place we would stay and recommend. Feels like we have family there.

We are a family group of 16 persons. We have four children and they all in all seven grand children. We grand parents take them all once a year to a holiday resort in Europe for a week or two. This time it was Italy, Riccione, Hotel Rex. We took the all inclusive package which served very well. And we liked the speed the hotel responded to our inquires at the beginning. This is very important when you plan for a trip for 16 persons.

Excellent food (maybe even too much). Competent very friendly personnel. The service was also very good and polite by the whole staff.
We asked for a special evening arrangement outside the city and the hotel fixed an unforgettable evening at the La Graziosa. Even the youngest members of the family ( 3, 4 and 5 year old ones were happy to stay there until mid night).

The hotel is located by the see and at the same time just a few minutes from the city center.
This was highly respected by all of us. So easy with the kids.

The rooms are good tree star rooms and the cleanliness excellent.

A highly recommendable hotel for families.

Many thanks to Franco and his personnel!!!

Ive stayed at many top class hotels especially in london and in europe. Hotel rex was just excellent from start to finish, the staff are fantastic and had such a personal ouch, from management to reception, to waiting and household staff. The friendliest hotel I have experienced and faultessly professional, they do everything they can so you have a great and memorable stay and i will definitely be back and recommend to anyone i know. the food was absolutely excellent and not having really had an all inclusive to this extent before, I was blown away by the standards, the facilities from dining room to bedroom were fantastic. I cant wait to go again and of course fabulous location ;-)) Many thanks to you all for a wonderful stay my mum and i loved it.

Lovely hotel perfect for family, building has been remodeled and rooms are well described but still on the small size. Perfectly fits the 3 + stars category. Location is right on the beach where the bagni are available. They have an agreement with bagni 92 which tents to be on the pricey side.

Response from FrancoVanucci, Proprietario at Hotel Rex

Dear sirs, thank you so much for taking the time to review the Rex. We are very pleased that you have highlighted our strengths and...the faults, too ("...and rooms are well described but still on the small size"). In fact, we have different types of room that have also different size: 15-20 sq.m. double rooms; triple and quadruple rooms 16-32 sq.m. also with double room and bathroom (size, bathroom excluded). We would like to show you our larger rooms, the next time you get to the Rex. Arrivederci in Romagna!

I stayed here for a week with my husband and son. The position, right opposite a well-kept beach is perfect and the distance from the promenade and shopping areas is also very convenient. The hotel is, I think, old but has been fully refurbished and everything is modern and well-kept. The owners, reception and waiting staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food was really excellent (we are all good food lovers) with a varied buffet antipasto which included all sorts of cooked dishes and fresh vegetables and the menu was very varied with lots of fresh fish and some creative as well as simple dishes. Breakfast is perfect in terms of variety - with some organic offerings and a good selection of cured meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, jams and ESPECIALLY lots of fresh fruit which is extremely welcome. Our compliments to the chef who really was careful about what and how he served it. There was some dust under the beds but the chamber-maid resolved the problem directly when I mentioned it to her. The only real down side was the fact that for three of us a double room was a bit tight and there wasn't really enough cupboard or drawer space. Other than that, we really had a lovely stay.

My husband and daughter have just returned from a week at this hotel, it was really great. My husband was sick on arrival and within 30 minutes the hotel arranged a doctor to come to our room, we were then treated to dinner in the room by the hotel. They don't offer room service it was just to be extra kind to me, travelling with a 1 year old baby and sick husband.

My husband improved over the coming days and we had a lovely stay. The hotel was spotless, we were on a bed and breakfast basis and the food was lovely, we did have lunch and dinner in the hotel on occasion and it was very tasty indeed. The speed of service was very brisk at meal times which was good for us with a small baby but it might be too fast for couples just wanting to relax over dinner. The room itself was very well equipped and was cleaned daily and in some cases twice daily. Our daughter messed some food on the bed and when we returned to our room we noticed the sheet had been changed, that is what you call service, fantastic, you wouldn't get that attention to detail in a five star hotel, well done Hotel Rex.

The staff were very helpful, had great english and were able to give us all the information we required, a couple of recommendations on local restaurants would have been helpful but we managed to find the nice spots anyway, specifically Cristallo restaurant it was gorgeous.
I was very impressed with the personal touch of the owners they were often around and always very very helpful, it is not often that you see that in hotels. We had a lovely lovely time and would ABSOLUTELY recommend the hotel to our friends/family. We hope to see you again soon.

We stayed at the rex for about 9 days while on holiday in Riccione. We picked the Rex because they communicated well with us via email before our trip about the hotel, prices, and options. We chose the "all-inclusive" package which included all meals (plus wine at lunch and dinner) and an umbrella and chairs on the beach the whole stay. Use of the pool was only 5 Euros extra a day and our kids (4 and 6) loved the option of going in the pool rather than the ocean sometimes.

I was there for a water polo tournament which was about 2k away and the hotel gave us bikes each day (with kid seats) so we could get back and forth to the pool. Aside from the somewhat grumpy night watch guy, our stay was excellent. And because my Italian is basically nonexistant, my experience with the night watch guy could have been better as he just wanted their bikes back one night when we came home late using a bus and had to leave the bikes down the road (Couldn't take the sleeping kids on the bikes!).

The hotel is family run and the staff is super friendly and very accommodating with all of your questions as clueless tourists.

The other reason we chose this hotel is because they gave us 2 rooms, one for us and an adjoining room for the kids. It was great to be able to give the kids their own room, and once in bed, we could have some privacy to watch tv or read without worrying about noise. The bonus too was 2 bathrooms to use! The rooms are a bit on the small side, but super clean and fairly quiet since it's on the beach side, not the main road. They gave the family all "Rex" t shirts which was nice, and the food at each meal was well put together and tasty.

We have stayed in far larger and higher star rated hotels in many countries, and in over thirty five years of coming to italy and especially riccione, as I have many relatives there, have never ever had better service, food, hospitality, and also first time to do all inclusive, what a great idea that was, wine, water and beach chairs, umbrellas and towels, and cannot praise the food high enough. Really looking forward to returning again and staying with my other favourite new family in riccione.Love to all at the Hotel Rex. Francis and Valerie

This hotel is a great place to spend your holiday in Riccione! There are many hotels to choose from here, but not all of them are kept up-to-date inside and outside. It is hard to believe this is only a “3 star” hotel; the service is top-notch. The Rex is over 70 years old but looks like new, inside and out. The staff are incredibly friendly and do speak English. The Rex has a prime position in the first row of hotels, so you have a great ocean view from here. Of course, the beach is just across the street. In the lobby there is a bar and a lounge with a great view of the beach, a perfect place to hang out when you’re tired of being in the sun but still want to enjoy the view. There is plenty of parking here, which is frequently a concern at other hotels, especially those in busy tourist locations like Riccione.

The restaurant here is also very, very good and of course you should be ordering seafood! One of the dishes we ordered was spaghetti with prawns; the pasta was made there and cooked perfectly; the prawns were fresh. Very tasty! We also ordered grilled fish, salad, and dessert. Everything was exactly as good as one would expect. They also have an abundant breakfast buffet that is very impressive. All of the food, especially the seafood, was very fresh. If you just need a lunchtime snack, make sure to order a piadina. It’s a local specialty that is what we Americans would call a tortilla with some cheese and meat in the middle, usually heated. They can do this, too, if you don’t want anything fancy. We’ve stayed at other hotels where the meals have ranged from OK to mediocre, and I’ve come to expect that any restaurant in a hotel is probably goint to disappoint; I can honestly say that the Rex matches some of the best non-hotel restaurants we’ve dined at. The rate we paid, we thought was really quite reasonable considering the quality of everything from the location to the room to the staff to the food.

The hotel does have wifi and it works well and is fast. We’ve stayed before at hotels that advertised wifi but it did not work very fast or at all at times.

The location of the Rex is ideal for enjoying the shopping available in Riccione. There is a lot to do here, this is not one of those tired seaside towns whose glory days were 50 or more years ago and everything is decaying or rundown and the retail is limited to shops selling cheap beach gear and no-name clothing and shoes. Riccione is a trendy place - sort of the Miami of the Italian Adriatic coast - with discos, a waterpark, and always something going on during the weekends such as street fairs. In addition to this, the Republic of San Marino is close by and due to its tax haven status, there are many stores there belonging to the finest designer houses like Gucci and Prada where one can go shopping for luxury goods at a reduced price. San Marino is also a really interesting place to visit, just plan ahead because parking is scarce; it’s not necessarily a place you would want to just drop in on, on the spur of the moment. For instance, weekends during high season are impossible because everyone goes there. Make sure to ask the Rex staff about visiting there so you can plan appropriately for when to go and how to get around.

Make sure to also ask the staff about the fascinating history of the Rex.
