On the top of the hill, overlooking the blue sea! great! very quite, clean with very friendly staff. the food was simply AMAZING. wow, the best chef I've ever met. fantastic fish, really! for 10 euros more pnpp u can have an exellent dinner. the room was average size (on the small side...) but we were there for the sea, not to stay in the room. beach down the hill (if u'r old or not very trained, better go by car). well, u MUST HAVE A CAR. there are some buses, but don't trust them too much. very clean and welcoming, I would go back without problems.

The hotel is great, with great and lovely staff. I've been there a lot of days, and i had a lovely time. Rooms are extremely clean and they clean them every morning. The Italian cuisine is unbelievable, it's cooked from the mother of the owner and they cook with love. The best restaurant in Rio Marina with the best people. If you have a pet, they allow you to bring it with you, they have a yard with sofas and tents, and also an other yard for sunbathing. A huge parking for cars is available, and also the location is good because the beach is close and also Rio marina too. Moreover, the hotel has rooms on the third floor that are more economical and you use one toilet, but everything is clean, and the laundry is available... You will not regret.

With Love, Evi Zekai

My girlfriend and I were very excited about coming here and enjoying life on Elba. However, the owner of the hotel managed to ruin our enjoyment. She was rude, unhelpful and miserable. We discovered through experience that to make the most of Elba (if you stay in this part of the island) you need to either: get to know the bus timetable (which was very confusing to a foreigner); hire a scooter; or hire a car. She made no effort in explaining the buses to us (despite us standing outside the hotel for nearly an hour on a few occasions), and then didn't help us hire a car on a bank holiday, which, thanks to the language barrier, meant that we lost out on the last availalbe car on the entire island! (No joke.) My advice to her, if she ever reads this, is to make an effort if she ever wants to get good feedback. You are in the hospitality industry, you know! Do you know what that means? Another blight was her beach recommendation. Elba is a stunning place. Why she suggested we go to the most ugly, disgusting beach imaginable is quite beyond me. (And we had to hitchhike there as there were no buses...) We took one look, promptly turned away and walked (a very long way) to another one, which was marginally better. I have pictures if anyone wants to be amused. Finally, (although I could go on and on) when I requested use of her laptop (there was no communal one) she rolled her eyes as if to say: "What, you again. Leave me alone!". I repeat: do you know what hospitality means? Also a word on the (cramped) room itself. No TV or hairdryer (I guess the TV you can understand) or space to fully open your suitcase; and when you had a shower (which was fine actually) your bedroom floor got totally soaked. Nice. Don't come here. Get a 3-star hotel instead in Porto Arurro (a beautiful, bustly place not far away...) for pennies more, right on the harbour - we checked prices as we were so disappointed with Hotel Etrusco! Rio Marina is quiet and dull. And this hotel simply sucks in many practical ways. We found ourself walking home from a restaurant at 9pm-ish (ie, not late) in the pitch black on a pretty busy road. This place offers nothing to anyone who wants to see the stunning Elba island.

Let me start off with the good things: the room was clean. The personnel was friendly and breakfast was fine. We really do mean this! Now to the negative side: this room we were in (T7) will never, ever, not in any world, be worth 130 euro per night. Here is why:

1) you will hear every single noise from any other room anywhere down the hall, including the slapping of any door.
2) You have one window in the room, which looks out on a wall.
3) The bathroom is so small, that no matter what you do when you need to use the toilet, your feet will be in the shower.
4) the rooms smells like mold.

Sorry to say it, since the people were friendly, but charging 130 euro for this room should not be allowed. If you have rooms like this, fine. But adapt the price to the state, location and quality of the room. Even if it is August on Elba.

Barbara and her staff were very hospitable. Clean and breakfast and the fish dinner was good. Very tranquil and I had my own terrace which was great. Two things make me rate this less than Excellent: 1. although the website says there is air conditioning, make sure you ask for it. Not all rooms have it, nor the hair dryer, although I think if you asked Barbara would get you one. 2. This is NOT walking distance from Rio Marina. I didn't have a car, and this was a very difficult place to stay if you want to have some night life or do not have a car. The walk to the hotel from Rio Marina town is about 1.5 miles which is doable except that it is down a two lane highway with few lights and no shoulder = very dangerous. And the buses, although they pick up/drop off outside of the hotel, stop running before 9 and do not run extremely frequently.

My wife and myself travelled over to Elba after some time around Sienna and Florence in July. We were looking for somewhere reasonable to base ourselves as well as a nice place to stay. From the moment we arrived we were delighted with our choice of Hotel Etrusco. If you want somewhere relaxing and away from some of the busier resorts this is the place. The hotel was quaint and very comfortable and the staff were the most helpful. What we didnt realise was that there was a restaurant in the hotel and we ended up sampling this on the evening before we were due to depart. The food was amazing in very relaxing environment (with the terraced location). The hotel staff couldnt do enough for us and even gave us a lift to the ferry the morning we were leaving (as it was a bit early for the bus). Transport would be useful for staying here as we hadnt any and had to get very familar with the bus timetable (however there is a stop outside the hotel). All in all would highly recommend.

I had room 101, a nicely decorated large room with a rather large bathroom as well. Room and bathroom very clean. No TV, but I do not care. The hotel is a little bit off the town of Rio Marina, I guess it is difficult to move around without a car.

A nice place easily accessible one bus stop away from Rio Marina and within easy reach of the small hilltop village of Rio nell'Elba.
I liked the tranquillity and the birds songs and the summer sounds of the fields and wooded areas in the vicinity.
