We stayed here in June 22 and this was our 3rd visit and first post covid. The hotel and staff were generally as good as before but in some key areas a little less so than previous. Food choices for the evening meal were a little restricted in that there was a degree of repetition same choices during the week we stayed. Noticibly the soup station was no longer available, the restaurant setting and service was still pretty good.

The noise from an adjacent bar was very loud and started every day around 4pm at times this was unbearable and meant the experience of sitting on the balcony wasn't very enjoyable.

Entertainment in the hotel is low key, however, as mentioned in a previous review the guy that played the piano 🎹 isn't great and agree that he needs an off switch, fortunately from our balcony the noise from the next door hotel meant we couldn't hear! After dinner we tended to walk to the nearby Krystal Palace hotel which is part of the Tonelli family's portfolio, the roof terrace is well worth a visit and has great lake and mountain views.

One other observation is that the hotel had scaled back on the flower display on the outside of the hotel, the flower displays were one of the main reasons we chose the hotel and whilst still nice were not as stunning as previous visits, furthermore the reduction of flowers on the balconies (geraniums) will have increased the level of mosquitos, geraniums are a known deterrent and can only be explained as cost cutting.

The hotel operates a cashless system and purchases are made using your room card. It was a surprise therefore that when we requested our room bill this was c350euros more than it should have been and when checking there were numerous purchases that had been charged against our room. Fortunately we had kept all our receipt including the drink purchases made atthe Krystal Palace and were able to prove that at the time of the transactions in the Savoy Palace that we were elsewhere, our last evening was spoilt as much of this was spent sorting out the bill, the receptionist reissued the bill for the correct amount, however, only once we had shown the clear evidence of our whereabouts and itinerary as proof.

We believe that the frudulent transactions will have been made using a duplicate room card and this may have been done unknowingly, however, if a duplicate card could have been used to purchase drinks and food then this would also have allowed access to our room and could have explained the whereabouts of a missing bracelet which whilst not a great value was of sentimental value.

If planning on staying here we suggest that you check your room bill on a regular basis and keep copies of your transaction receipts.

We did contact Mr Tonelli on return from our holiday to raise our concerns regarding the room card and security issue, Mr Tonelli did reply and said he was sorry for what had happened.

Overall we enjoyed our 3 visits to the Savoy Palace but due to the security issue we do not intend to return.

3rd time we have stayed at this hotel, staff are very helpful and friendly, food is amazing, we had a room on the 5th floor with a lake view, fabulous, owner very attentive always making sure all is ok. Will definitely be back, love being served at the table for dinner, more relaxing than buffet.

My only concern is I think the sun beds need updated!

Thhis was our 4th visit to this resort and hotel after a 2 year break due to covid. We arrived early and our room was not ready so we still checked in and put our luggage in a locked room by reception then had lunch at the pool bar cafe. after lunch our room was ready and we were given 2 key cards ( which are used to order drinks at the hotel as well. We were on the first floor ( lift or 18 steps to the first floor) and in room 103. this was a pleasant surprise because it was a big room with kingsize bed sofa / bed and 2 double wardrobes mini bar tv hairdryer and shampoo bodywash supplied in the bathroom. outside is a terrace with a table and four chairs and two sun loungers and a fantastic view of the mountains. There is a free digital safe at waist height in the wardrobe. Dinners are as before very good but the offer of free wine with your dinner is now not available. The staff or polite and helpful as before, this hotel is in a great location and I would use again.

We have recently returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at the Hotel Savoy Palace and found it to be the perfect hotel for a wonderful trip to Riva.

Location is excellent being only a 5 minute walk from the lake and the view from our room on the third floor looked out to the mountains and was a pleasure to wake up to.

All of the staff at the hotel are excellent but a special mention must go to the ladies on reception and the gents that served us at dinner every night - all professional, polite, friendly and happy to go the extra mile for guests.

The pool area at the hotel is lovely and as we were there in mid-September there was ample room and we often found ourselves to be the only ones in the swimming pool (which was lovely and heated)! On the odd occasion the cloud rolled in during the afternoon and the temperatures dipped a little, the indoor pool was also a welcomed option!

Free tea and coffee was a lovely touch and we often enjoyed a late afternoon sitting in the outdoor seats and enjoying some home made cakes!

Equally the free bike hire is great and we'd definitely recommend a ride to Arco and a stop at Bike Farm! Absolutely amazing scenery!

Indeed all of Riva is stunning and the hotel provide a brilliant map with 5 walking routes that are all worth exploring. It was great that they had taken the time to do this and it really enhanced our visit!

Food at the hotel was very good and you are asked to choose from a menu choice every evening which provides 3 options for first course, second course and dessert. The only slight negative we could mention is that there wasn't a vegetarian option as standard. The hotel were very happy to accommodate vegetarians and would happily make something but we would feel a little uncomfortable having to ask for this on the majority of nights and if something could have been included on the menu, it would have been better for us - especially when there are so many great options with pasta and salad etc....!

Overall though the hotel cannot be faulted. It is not a new hotel but as a result it has a traditional feel and the staff do everything they can to make your holiday enjoyable.

We absolutely loved Riva and can't wait to visit again!

I am writing this review on behalf of my wife who is disabled so it is from a disabled persons point of view. The outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi which were both heated had railings for support which aided my wife so well to get in and out of the swimming pools. The lifts to go from our bedroom on the 2nd floor to the ground floor had plenty of room for me and my wife with the wheelchair. To get to Riva it takes about half an hour from the hotel and it is suitable for a wheelchair because it is relatively flat and a lovely walk beside the lake to get the ferry to visit other lakeside towns. The staff on the ferry are very helpful by putting a ramp to aid getting on the ferries. We booked this hotel for our 30th wedding anniversary because we came 6 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All the staff made our anniversary so special by making a special cake and a bottle of Prosecco presented to us at our dining table for the evening meal and also the manager Mr. Tonelli gave his congratulations to us which was a nice gesture. The bed was on the hard side for my wife but by going to reception and asking for a topper mattress they duly did that straight away so no matter what the problem is they will do there best to help you. All of the staff made our holiday extra special so a big thank you for your hospitality.

Location
We very much liked the location of this hotel, a flat 300m walk to the lake and then a flat 15 minute walk into Riva old town with plenty of shades and dozens of benches to rest awhile and enjoy the fabulous views.

Room.
Liked our room - very comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe space and a good sized balcony with table and chairs.

Bathroom was a good size with a good shower and plenty of room for toiletries. Good supply of shampoo & shower gel.
Towels were large and good quality and renewed every day.

Food - plenty of choice for the buffet starters and at breakfast. Would have preferred a one way system as constantly people barging about and pushing in and unattended children. Staff were friendly and pleasant.

Reception: very helpful staff.

Swimming Pool.
This was the only problem and the only reason we would not book again. There were notices saying No balls, no inflatables, no jumping, diving, running, shouting. No unaccompanied children.

Sadly the reality was the pool was full of unaccompanied children on inflatables, playing ball, running, jumping, shouting etc and as a swimmer it was impossible much of the time to actually swim more than a yard or two before some child crashed into us or jumped in right next to us.
Yes children have to play but it needs a separate children's area or a children's pool in the upper garden area, or adults only times.
Please don't make rules that are not monitored and kept. Quite a few people actually went down to the lake for an uninterrupted swim.

Also the loungers collapse so please anyone going be careful: a man with his arm in a sling was tilted backwards and left upside down and a woman next to me crashed backwards & hit her head on a low wall. Not safe and not particularly comfortable,

Yes we enjoyed our stay and were glad we stayed at Riva which we liked better than other resorts we visited all around the lake.

This hotel is well kept and clean and well situated and if one isn't bothered about a swim in a pool it would be fine.

Booked as part of a Riviera Trip and chose a superior double. Allocated a family room on the top floor at the back overlooking pool and hills. Large balcony with 4 chairs, table and sun longer. Only issue was a small children’s fairground alongside the pool area (not hotels) that belted out very loud music late afternoon and evening making sitting in the balcony impossible. Very large room with large double bed, single bed and sofa bed. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, 2 TV’s, safe and fridge. Bathroom very big with 2 sinks. Several lifts to all floors. Very big hotel with 2 dining rooms, large bar and outside patio area with live music every night. The outside pool has approx 200 sun beds so plenty to go round and the pool is large. Fine selection of cold buffet for breakfast together with omelette and egg station alongside bacon selection. Plenty of breads, fruit, cereal coffees , juices and preserves. Evening meal though was very disappointing and some of the food was inedible and tasteless - good job there was always a good selection of pasta on the buffet bar. Service at the bar was very very slow and being sat on the patio area was impossible to get served *** The patio area was swarming with mosquitoes at night. ****. 20 minute walk from the hotel to downtown with huge selection of bars and restaurants. 200 yards from the hotel on the main street is a big CoOp with cheap bees and spirits and crisps etc. Overall not a bad hotel in a good location with friendly staff. Marked down owing to bad service.

It’s not often I write a review while still staying in a hotel, however I felt compelled to do so on this occasion. Savoy Palace is one of the friendliest and well managed hotels I have stayed in.

Yes, the rooms may need an upgrade but they are still clean, comfortable and well proportioned. I would suggest giving a little more like and iron and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms but that would not stop me give this 5*.

It’s important to feel safe and relaxed and the Savoy Palace dies that. The staff are excellent and attentive.

The restaurant on half board was is class… I absolutely love the food choice… it’s very Italian but high class, for a 4 star hotel, well done to the staff and chef.

The facilities are very good with a big games room for children and a large swimming pool with plenty of sun beds. You can even get to see the managers Ferrari.

Lake Garda is an amazing place even in high season I would definitely come back and to the Savoy Palace , it’s immaculately kept and people are kind and friendly and believe it or not it’s not too expensive.

Well done Savoy Palace.

We very much enjoyed this hotel, with nice rooms and beautiful terraces. The staff was extremely kind and welcoming, the breakfast buffet was varied, they even had vegetable milk for coffee. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool, which offered a great view over the Dolomites and the morning outdoor yoga class, offered complimentary to all hotel guests. There were 5 of us attending, so it felt very intimate and relaxing. They even have bikes which are also offered complimentary to hotel guests, which is great for the area, as you may explore the surroundings. I can’t wait to return here.

We are a family of four (kids 13 and 10 yrs) and stayed at Savoy Palace for 10 nights in the beginning of July 2022. This was our second visit and our main driver was the good experience we had on our first visit. I'm happy to confirm that everything (post pandemic) was just as nice as before and we really enjoyed this hotel's atmosphere.

We spent our time at the pool and on other days we made trips by bike or by car to nearby towns and attractions.

Here are just some items that I feel are worth mentioning. The list is incomplete and I must point out that we had B&B, and did not use the restaurant (aside from the B).

+ Pool area is very nice. I cannot put my finger on it, but somehow the place is just spot on.
+ Room service is super. They really keep the rooms tidy and were always very friendly.
+ Parking available in garage (or in front of the hotel) and the location generally is perfect. Lake shore is very near as well as the town center.
+ The indoor pool is very nice. We used it a couple of times just to avoid getting too much sunshine.

This is a really nice hotel with nice guests and friendly personnel. We will definitely come again.
