Amazing place to stay: elegant, comfort, clean, friendly; with SPA, and restaurant with very tasty food, rich breakfast (organic and local products), located in the centre of a beautiful village, various programs.
First things first, Chiara who was working at reception was more than helpful and extremely friendly with helping with us our entire stay, to include recommending a fantastic location for dinner. San Candido is a charming little South Tyrolean town and the hotel is right in the center next to the church, you really couldn't have a better location even for us who had to park our car. Literally the only reason I didn't give this hotel a top rating was because the bed was just a little too hard for my liking. However i'm going to attribute this to me being an American...Anyway that is really my only gripe the hotel is lovely, the breakfast is great and the staff is fantastic! Highly recommend I will need to return for Ski Season!
figures first: room “4 Orsetti” 2072 EUR for 2 people for 7 nights including breakfast. thinking it is expensive ? think twice and read on ! “Orsetti” is their metric to quantify how large is the room, the more Orsetti the more square feet and confort. And viceversa. So check your budget and count the Orsetti. Then enter a world of gratification: - breakfast is obscenely generous, sinfully good with all sorts of fantastic local products. - for just 10 EUR/day per person (yes , 10) you get also dinner with selection from 3 menus where you can pick & choose. Sort of “a la carte” , just simplified. Different every evening ! Desserts alone would be worth it. Again sinfully good etc etc. Highly recommended. - complimentary sauna and turkish bath located on the hotel roof. Yes, small but with all conforts. - complimentary vouchers for bicycle renting from nearby shop. Note: not a discount voucher: full day bicycle for free. - complimentary events like welcome aperitif for all guests. Guided hiking. Wine tasting. - friendly and professional approach by all personnel. Starting from the front desk person Chiara managing our reservation over the phone, to the smiling effective watresses, the proud chef (he will be also coming out occasionally), to finish with the courteous and “invisible” cleaning ladies, you meet them in the morning on the stairs. Ok, just one exception: a female bartender more interested in chatting in german with a friend than paying attention to customers standing by and staring at her for minutes. But hey, perfection does not exist on earth. And finally Franz, the owner : he’s got the business attitude to make sure you feel at home and orchestrate an excellent service. Kudos to Franz for his creature. …
Second time at this property and was once more very happy with the choice. The hospitality remains excellent. Helpful and cheerful staff, nicely decorated facilities, excellent breakfast and restaurant. Clean and spacious rooms. The hotel offers certain activities for guests (wine tasting, aperitivo, Glühwein evening etc) which add to the charm. All under the supervision and with the distinct touch of the delightful owner. An added value is the key location of San Candido which allows the exploration of the surrounding area. If you don't have or don't want to use your car, there's an extensive network of public transport, use of which is included in your stay. Looking forward to coming back.
San Candido is off the beaten track - frequented predominantly by Italians. It is worth the detour, as (in addition to its stunning setting) it combines the best of Northern European organisation with Italian charm and food. This hotel has been in Franz' (the friendly proprietor) for many generations. It combines beautifully the characteristics of an ancient inn (cloisters in the reception and an antique wine cellars - with weekly tastings), with modern comforts. It is unusual for us to opt for full board, as we like to dine out regularly. However, we did not regret the decision; throughout each day we were looking forward to the nightly feast - it being of the highest quality and innovation (often with local produce). But the most pronounced highlight was the generous and warm hospitality offered by Franz and his caring staff. The feeling was one of being welcomed into a dear friend's home - and being taken care of like an honoured guest. His weekly hike into the stunning scenery of the dolomites was wonderful, as were his recommendations of wine and day trips. Thank you Franz, we will certainly be back, even if it is a long way from Hong Kong.…
