I could write a whole review just about the beautiful view from this hotel. It was enchanting, truly. But even more so, we were surprised by how lovely the hotel was and staff were fantastic. It is a local family owned and run hotel but that in no way affects the quality of the hotel. It is extremely clean and updated. The wellness floor exceeded my expectations and was a welcome respite after a day of hiking. I definitely recommend this hotel and waking up to the sound of a waterfall cascading each morning.

My husband and I spent 5 days at Hotel Vernel. The hotel was a warm and welcoming environment, along with all the staff. Our room had plenty of space for our hiking gear and clothing, and we even managed to be able to store our suitcases away due to the large closet space. The room balcony was ideal for sipping espresso in the mornings and wine at night, as the views were spectacular! Shared accommodation spaces on the lawn were very comfortable and had plenty of shade to get some relief from the sun on our rest days. The hotel was very walkable to the town center, hiking trails, gondolas, restaurants, and more. The wellness room had breathtaking views, and the garage space was very much appreciated.

Is already the second time we stay here. Super accommodation. It has a new wellness and it is on the top floor. You have magnificent views. Rooms are big and 'La cena' is very good. For sure we will return. It is great value for the price

We have been skiing accorss Europe and the US and have always experienced superb hospitality in hotels and pensions we stayed. Vernel is the exception as customer service doesn't exist and guests seem to be a 'problem'. Not something i expect from the hospitality sector. There is no interest in guests (nor their satisfaction from stay). During the stay I reported wifi issue, no access to network as no reception which hasn't been resolved as such the next day I politely requested resolution of issue via email (sent from the ski slope where the wifi worked). The snappy response was sent by someone from the hotel (email was not signed at all, neither started with 'hi' or 'hello'). No respect and no interest to help the guests. We have proof as have screen shot off available networks. If you advertise wifi on the website ensure it actually works in all your guests room. Very intimidating at breakfast when one or two people constantly watch you eating at a table/picking food from buffet area, bit like at school. At most hotels staff are discrete however here they stand staring at you constantly, A smile and politeness during interactions with customers would also help, the only word I can use to describe the staff is dour. Vernel has been disappointing experience. At a check out, we weren't even asked how our stay was unlike all other hotels we have stayed in Tirol. The design of the bathroom wasn't great either because if you were over 6ft tall then sitting on the toilet was difficult due to the position of the bidet. Pros - room was OK, lots of power points, close to ski bus stop.

Response from ivan p, Inhaber at Hotel Vernel
Responded 29 Jan 2019
Thank you for your vote, please write however how it really was. wifi was really for some hours out of service (47 different users were at the same time on the Internet) and we have done everything best to solve the problem, which we also succeeded.per email you have the access data for private networks which we of course not can share. We are clearly on the buffet written "eat as much as you like, but don't take it with you". Of course, if a guest asks to take a sandwich, it was always friendly allowed, but you have never asked and really cool you have hidden a lot of sandwiches under the cap, sweater and trouser pocket, so you must not be surprised. Good morning on your part was a foreign word for you. With us every guest is really welcome and we always do our best. sorry, this text has been translated with google

Hotel in a good position within walking distance of centre about 10 minutes away. Room for parking a few cars. Room a good size with a balcony and very clean. Owner helpful although didn't speak much English. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice in a lovely airy room. Interesting exhibition in the old railway tunnel of how the railway was built, just short walk from hotel. A good overnight stay, would recommend.

I skied on my own in the area for 7 days in late January 2018 and I'm glad to have chosen this hotel. The room is big and bright, clean and spacious. At first I was a bit upset as the host said that they didn't have a kettle, as I need hot water for tea in such a cold place. After some 15 mins, the lady host brought one to my room. I thought there might be a misunderstanding on what I asked because of the language barrier. There is a balcony with chairs and a small table to keep my lambrusco, beer and wine cold. The bed is comfortable. Quite a lot of choices for breakfast, eggs, cereals etc, and the coffee is especially good. I did not book the half board as I don't want to eat at the same place 8 nights in a row. They didn't serve dinner without prior booking but it's an easy walk to restaurant near the main bus stop... It's very cold at night though... Taxi to Selva is Euro 20 one way. There is a large ski room at the basement where skiers can store their gear. The walk to the ski bus stop is around 5 mins and one can get to the saslong in about 15 mins. Supermarket and restaurant is around 15 mins and 20 mins walk respectively. What is remarkable is that the host offered to give me a lift to the bus stop where I could catch the bus for Ponte Gardena so I didn't have to drag my luggage downhill. He was also helpful to give information regarding the sella ronda circuits and the locations of ski bus stops. The Alto Adige guest pass they offered is particularly useful - not only can you take the ski buses and the buses to Selva etc, one can use it on the trains up to Trento. It's a 7-day pass so I had my second one the day before my checking out and I used it to visit Bolzano and the vicinity after the ski trip. It's valid up to Trento. I met tourists who stayed in rented apartments and they were not given such pass so they had to buy tickets for trains and buses. I haven't stayed in other places in this area so no comparison could be made; however, I'm glad I picked this hotel and had an enjoyable time in the room after the ski.

Took single en-suite room Spotless & well-organised Recently refurnished Half-board food is excellent I hired from Saslong ski hire, so left skis & boots there each day, & enjoyed 20 minute walk. But ski bus is also available Little English spoken, but enough to get by No common lounge to read, nor spa/swimming pool Functional for ski, eat, sleep Background music is irritating Common bar but not used, & background music too annoying to tolerate for long Worth paying little extra for balcony with view, was told Other guests were all Germans & Dutch & Swiss Other guests seemed to return year after year, for good reason

Nice and typical rooms for hotels in this area. Rooms very clean also. Breakfast simple. Owner is very polite and helpfull, his staff isn't. Remarkable: owner came outside to say goodbye when I left. Extraordinary.

Just back from a week in Val Gardena. What a wonderful place. We stayed in the Pension Vernel, which was a great surprise. The room we had was very beautiful, spacious and with a magical view on the Sassolungo and the frozen waterfall. There was also a nice and spacious, perfectly clean bathroom. Both breakfast and the dinner were really very delicious. In the morning for breakfast there is a good choice to satisfy all tastes. Great coffee. The diner in the evening is always prepared to perfection. A nice salad/antipasti buffet to start with, followed by a nice pasta dish or soup (at the choice of the guest) followed by a "secondo" and a "dolce". Always several alternatives are proposed in case the choice if the day is not to your taste. Nice wine list as well, with good local wines, at really acceptable prices. The hosts are really very lovely and happy to help you with any requests. For skiers it's really paradise. Val Gardena is really top, with many possibilities and on the Sella Ronda. The pension accommodates perfectly the active skiers. They have a large skiroom with heaters for the skiboots. The skibus stops almost in front of the hotel (max 100 meters walk) and passes by every 20 min. As active skiers, we would have our breakfast at 7.30, take the first skibus at 8.20 and by 8.30 you are on the slopes. Also a walk to the center of Santa Caterina is not more than a 10 min walk. We never used our car during our full stay. This is for sure a place we will come back to... would already want to reserve for 2018 ;o).

Clean, comfortable and walking distance to town. This was a great affordable find on our trip through the Dolomites. It's very close to the bus stop too for skiing. Breakfast was included, another bonus. They have dinner here as well, but we walked to different places.
