There is no doubt that this is a very beautiful hotel in a great location. It has everything, lovely swimming pools, tennis, spas, gym, activities every day. For the most part the staff are friendly and helpful. The whole place is spotless. The views are second to none over the valley to the mountains. We were there with an HF holidays package that includes evening meals. The food was gourmet. 4 or 5 courses every night. Beautiful food, beautifully cooked and presented. The breakfasts were wonderful too. It is mainly visited by German guests, but most of the staff speak English. Why then do I give this hotel only 3 stars? Two big problems, firstly they refuse absolutely to give you tap water at night. Water is freely available at breakfast and by the pool, but at night you must buy bottled water. This is very bad for the environment and an hotel like this should be caring for the future of the planet. Secondly the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are expensive beyond belief. €15 for local gin and tonic. House wine at a minimum of €28 per bottle. This is beyond London prices, but we are not in London. We are in an hotel with it’s own vineyard, producing its own wine!! There is a shop inside the hotel, 2 metres from the bar, where they sell the identical wine for €10!!! How mad is that? When you check out they give you a free bottle of the same stuff while you pay a bar bill of €200 for one person for a week!!! There is no nearby bar to go to at night so you are stuck with it. Sorry Schenna Resort. You do so many things well why spoil it? We took advantage of the wine tour and tasting one night. A really good experience.

The Rosengarten is the newest of 4 different hotels which make up the Schenna Resort and share facilities. Our greeting was not so friendly as we booked through a third party and somewhere our category of room was miscommunicated to the resort so we had to provide proof of our reservation and go through a long conversation with the lady at reception before she was willing to show us to the category of room we had paid for and booked. I say, shame on any resort to welcome a guest like this and even though in the end, our stay was fabulous I have to deduct a point for our unfortunate welcome. Aside from this misunderstanding, the resort and hotel offers everything the modern guest could want. The rooms are beautiful with views out to the mountains. I recommend the Vinea Süd (as in the broschure) or Vinea Suite (as on the Website) and not the Vinea Ost which looks out over a busy street). My only complaint is the modern aesthetic for glass doors for toilets- nobody really likes less privacy for a toilet, when will architects understand this?!? The breakfast buffet is fabulous, there is really nothing that you cannot find for a different and healthy breakfast everyday. The bartenders were very friendly and detail oriented and the bar had a nice selection of gins and tonics. Our server, Christina, was super friendly and professional. The kitchen was a bit hit or miss, many courses were a high quality but others completely missed the target. For a big kitchen, they do very well, but it’s not as good as it could be. Sometimes the creativity of the chef just didn’t translate well into the dish being served, but it’s definitely a question of taste. We visited in off season and all the guests from all the hotels were in the Rosengarten spa because it’s the newest and best. We visited the Schwefelbad Hotel spa and nobody was there. It is just not as nice as the Rosengarten. I guess if you have kids you are limited to the Schwefelbad Spa, but it could get pretty crowded at the Rosengarten in high season if few families come and everyone crowds into the Rosengarten Spa. In the end, it was a really nice stay with a few exceptions but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a modern hotel with a good, above average kitchen and nice, modern spa facilities. My only complaint from the spa is that there are no warm pools for relaxing. The indoor/outdoor pool is too warm for lap swimming but then too cold for relaxing and releasing muscle tension. We might seek out a smaller hotel for our next visit to Meran for a bit more special service and attention, but the Rosengarten is certainly not out of the competition as a bigger hotel with modern, sleek facilities and great views.

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and it was delightful. The hotel is modern, fresh and has great facilities. The restaurant is superb and we had fantastic food (evening meal) and a great breakfast. Staff were very attentive and the spa is spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly want. Car Parking on site and towels and robes also provided. We had a suite (room 754) which was delightful and there was also an outside jacuzzi which is highly recommended to try if you get this room. We would definitely stay here again. First class, well done to the team.

A luxury hotel with amazing food. Three swimming pools, indoor and out and a wellness centre. Our room was large with an adjoining lounge and a garden area overlooking the valley. The breakfast was abundant and could be eaten outdoors with the lovely view. Dinner was incredible, with six courses if anyone could manage it. A downside was that some of the rooms lacked air conditioning.

I have read the rave reviews but I have to call it as I saw it. Four hotels make up the Schenna resort. The main hotel is partly a beautiful traditional style chalet building, but grafted on to it, since 2017, is an extremely ugly industrial style flat roofed building. This houses the facilities for those who have come for the pampering (spa, saunas, masseurs, hairdressers etc) and some bedrooms. Bedrooms are attractive and spacious. Bathrooms well equipped, but evidently fitted out by very tall men - everything was out of my reach. Breakfast was fantastic. However, the real problem was the evening meal, which was very bizarre and unsatisfactory. We were there on half-board terms, in fact we were more than half-bored by the service. The half-board arrangement was a soi-disant six course menu, but in reality it was a curious tasting menu with miniscule helpings and weird food combinations (eg three tiny cubes of raw fish with four cubes of water melon, a tiny amuse bouche of tomato (one slice) and courgette (half slice) was served with popcorn!)). Some of the helpings were the size of canapés at receptions. Service was indescribably slow and a wait of 30 minutes between "courses" was the norm. The meal began with an excellent salad buffet, but when the hotel was busy around 50 people could be waiting in line. One evening three people at our table were served their main course and, as they were about to start eating, their plates were snatched away and taken to another table. This was inexcusable. Tap water was not available and bottled water was overpriced. Not all rooms have air-conditioning. Anyone with mobility difficulties needs to know that as the hotel complex is built on a steep site, there are many levels, and steps and stairs everywhere.

Stayed one week at the Resort and absolutely everything was perfect. The location is just outside the village and a 25 minute walk to Meran. The rooms are perfect, so are all other facilities. The menu differs every day and the service is impeccable. Plan to return next year.

We went to Schenna for a week long vacation. The hotel is absolutely marvelous! It's newly built and very fresh, design is super modern, very comfortable. Stuff very friendly. We were new to the region so they were always ready to help us with our questions. Location is easily accessible from Merano by bus or by foot. We had breakfast and Dinner in the hotel and it is truly 5 star dining experience. They also have their own great wines to go with the meals. Rooms have perfect view of the mountains and surroundings. I loved daily mail that they put every morning on the breakfast table, with the advices where to hike, little history, drink of the day tips, etc. Spa area is great with lots of different rooms and spaces to relax and enjoy ur time there. We loved everything about the hotel.

We just spent 6 nights at the Hotel Mittelplatt, part of the four hotels that make up the Schenna Resort. This review is intended ONLY for the Hotel Mittelplatt as the other hotels were closed for the season during our stay. We visited in the last 7 days before they closed for a few weeks (much like all the hotels in the area between seasons). We therefore got a very low rate with half pension. Remodeled two years ago, this small hotel (26 rooms) is open, bright, warm and friendly. Our room, the "pergola suite" was spacious and afforded a large terrace with a beautiful view. The open plan bathroom was modern and comfortable with a GREAT shower. The seating area comprised of a sofa, coffee table and desk allowed us to relax in the room, watch tv or read. The bed, slightly dissappointing, was both a little too hard for our taste and the pillows were not comfortable and for a couple, the two single duvets make sleeping with your partner a little less than wonderful as each single duvet barely covered one person, and certainly not two. The dining room offered a wonderful and extensive breakfast buffet with everything imaginable and also afforded a spectacular view. Dinner was a complete pleasure each night as the menu was diverse, perfectly prepared, tasty and the portions were appropriate. The spa was ideal for an afternoon relax. it was both large enough, warm enough and diverse enough for our taste...we thoroughly enjoyed it each day. Though the staff were helpful and friendly and made a point ot taking good care of us, we were dissappointed that no one from the large family who owns the Schenna Resort never made an appearance to greet or meet or welcome any of the guests, at least not that we ever saw. Daily visits at mealtime from a family member would "warm" this typically sud-tirol environment and really help make it a first rate small hotel. All in all, None of the criticisms above got in the way of our enjoyment of our stay and would highly recommend it.
