We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. We got really great tips about what we can visit in the area and places we can go out to and have dinner. Really good breakfast. Loved the sauna! We are definitely coming back.

We rarely return to the same hotel twice in case of disappointment! But our experience of returning to this hotel was very positive. Since we visited in 2013 the first floor rooms and bathrooms have been refurbished to a very good standard and more refurbishment is planned to bring all the accommodation up to the same level. Our room on the front of the hotel had a magnificent view of the mountains and a warm sunny spacious balcony. The indoor pool is very pleasant, very clean and well-maintained and a great asset in the latter part of the season.. Dinners are excellent and the menu did not repeat itself at all during the eleven days we were there. The welcome we received from all the family was faultless - we even had helpful advice in advance on planning our journeys and also on planning our walks in the area. As one of us has walking difficulties this was very valuable. We now plan to return a third time - what better recommendation could there be?…

We spent 10 days in this very pleasant hotel in June. Situated uphill from Scena centre in a very quiet area it is family-run and has a cordial, friendly informal atmosphere. Many guests return over and over again. Breakfast is a buffet of eggs, cheeses, cooked meats, juices, rolls and jams - just right for those mountain walks - and a bowl of the wonderful fresh apples for which the region is famous is a nice touch. The dinner menu is presented at breakfast and any personal requests are discussed and met. We thought the menus were well thought out always very appetising. Dinner is 4-course+salad buffet and is excellent, a blend of Italian and Tyrolean styles, very plentiful, very varied and beautifully presented. An alternative to the rich desserts is an ice-cold glass of local William pear schnapps! Our simple but comfortable room was large and had a balcony running the whole depth of the building which had sun early in the day and shade later on - we sat out till late watching the evening descend over the mountain range opposite and the lights come up in the valley below. The hotel has an outdoor pool which was warm enough to use, a sunny lawn for sitting out, a terrace for drinks and an indoor pool which we did not use but which is open long hours. Scena itself is very picturesque and we also enjoyed the cable car rides in the area which offer a range of walks for all abilities and great views - and there is a castle, wonderful botanic gardens at Trautmansdorf, several churches of note and the city of Meran for a change of scene. The bus service which links the communities of the area is efficient and user-friendly and there is a very reasonable guest card rate. Herr Walder Junior was very helpful in providing us with information on the area in English which we much appreciated.…
