Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

20 years ago we stayed here to ski and always wanted to return. It was perfect. Susan is still there and in charge and we were were amazed to find another 3 staff there from all those years ago. The staff are just fantastic and all I can say is perfect in every way.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights, prior to a 7 night stay at Lake Garda. We both agreed that this hotel is one of the best, if not THE best we have ever stayed in! A very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated room, with a wonderful view over the mountains. Friendly, helpful and charming staff, a great breakfast. There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel, everything to like, and we thoroughly recommend it. Bear in mind that the hotel overlooks the only road through the valley, which is pretty busy during the day, but goes quiet at night. It is also virtually opposite the cable car, which is very handy!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week in July. This was our base for a walking holiay (booked through Inghams). Set in an ideal location, a short walk from the centre of town, but across the road from the Campinoi cable car station. Our room was really comfy. A huge bed, in a large, well appointed room. The cleanliness was spot on. Our room had a huge balcony and an amazing view. The reception area was cozy, a good place to chill after a day's walking. A decent sized pool was very welcome also. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. A special mention for Susie and Emily on reception. Breakfast was served in the sumptious dining room located on the first floor at the front of the hotel - the mighty Sassolungo towering above the valley. A really enjoyable stay. We loved this hotel.

Lovely hotel, very central, good amazing. Only reason for 4 stars was due to sleep quality. We had room on 2nd floor at the back above the kitchen. Lovely room but noise from kitchen woke us up early and kept us awake til early hours. Clinching of land and then dishwasher going overnight. Plus delivery vans reeling in morning. So choose a room on higher floor and you will have an amazing experience int his hotel.

This was my 7th time holidaying in Selva and was by far the best hotel that I've stayed in. From start to end the staff made us so welcome that we really didn't want to leave and without doubt we will return. The lovely owner Susy always greeted us with a nice smile and made us feel so welcome. Angelo, Sergio and young Leon were fantastic hosts and really looked after us during the whole of our stay. Angelo had a plaque made of my favourite football team and placed it in the bar, what a star!!!!. The hotel is great in every way, beautiful room and bathroom with stunning views. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. I would've loved it to have been half board with a meal in the evening as I'm sure it would've been amazing too. Thank you so much for making us so welcome and we can't wait to return.

Owner Susy is wonderfully welcoming and helpful as are Angelo, Sergio and the rest of the staff. They really made our stay a standout experience. We also had a relaxing time at the pool, jacuzzi and various sauna rooms. Breakfast was lovely and included gluten free baked goods. And we enjoyed drinks in their cozy lounge.

Reflecting on our 11 day holiday in Selva, Val Gardena, we agreed that this has been one of our favourite holidays in many years, partly due to the spectacular scenery of the Italian Dolomites, & also partly due to the exceptional experience we enjoyed at Hotel Aaritz. As others have previously commented, we were welcomed so warmly on our arrival, that we immediately felt like VIPs - a feeling that continued throughout our stay. Every contact with the team of staff was positive, friendly & helpful. Most exceptional was gaining the sense that every member of staff really WANTED to help us, & genuinely strived to please us. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel owner (Suzy) is extremely hardworking, & seemed to work long hours both behind the reception desk, behind the scenes, as well as supporting her team throughout the hotel (eg. serving breakfast to a large group of cyclists early one morning). Also notable for his superb customer service was Angelo, who seemed to have a sixth sense, constantly aware of his guest’s potential needs & helpfully offering solutions before even being asked. In terms of facilities, the Aaritz is also first rate. We stayed in what appeared to be a very recently refurbished room (#225), located at the rear of the hotel. A beautifully decorated, modern furnished room, with a state of the art bathroom, featuring top quality fittings and fixtures. The quality & attention to detail in this regard was highly impressive & is a testament to Suzy’s determination to invest in her business to keep it at the very top of offerings in the valley. Special thanks to the housekeepers who kept our room immaculately clean throughout our stay. Rooms were thoroughly serviced every morning & again each evening as part of the complementary turn-down service, faultless attention to detail. The comprehensive pool/spa facilities also deserve mention, as they are, in keeping with the bedrooms, very impressive in quality. It is hard to imagine enjoying better facilities anywhere, at any price level. Whilst no dinners are offered to guests in the summer, there is a wide choice of nice restaurants within just a few minutes walk from the hotel (our favourites being La Bula & Rino). Breakfast at the Aaritz took the form of a very comprehensive buffet, including a vast array of fresh fruit, cereals, breads, pastries, cold meats, cheeses, as well as hot options such as eggs, bacon & sausages - all much appreciated ahead of the many long walks amongst the mountains that we enjoyed during our stay. So finally, a huge thank-you to “Team Aaritz” for helping to make our holiday so special. Your desire to please, & attention to detail is exceptional & very much appreciated. We hope to return very soon, to experience again this very special level of hospitality.

This was our 6th visit to Selva but the first time we’ve stayed at The Aaritz, and we weren’t disappointed. The hotel is situated directly opposite the main gondola in Selva so perfect for a ski holiday. The staff and service in the hotel are excellent and made us feel very welcome. Our room was on the 4th floor towards the back of the hotel which actually meant it was very quiet being away from the main road. The beds were comfortable, the storage facilities good, and it was lovely to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room with a fridge. Bathrobes and slippers were also provided for use in the pool and spa area. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent with plenty of choice. The 5 course evening meal consisted of good well cooked local dishes without trying to be too fancy. We loved having veal, venison, rabbit, liver, amongst other things and of course delicious pasta. There was also a good wine list. The bar area with open fire is a lovely area to enjoy a drink before and after dinner with a pianist playing several evenings. There was also a cocktail party one evening with the chance to meet and chat to other guests. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi after a day on the slopes, with comfortable loungers and a drinks service available. The ski/boot room in the basement contains a heated locker per room for storage of skis, boots and helmets with direct access to the Main Street. All in all a great ski holiday and we will definitely be returning to this excellent hotel.
