Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are looking for somewhere different and authentic to stay to break up your journey between Kathmandu & Pokhara then this is an experience you won't forget. We only stayed for 1 night which is enough given there isn't much to do in Bandipur and we were made to feel very welcome & the staff helped us celebrate our silver wedding anniversary which was a lovely touch. The building is very old and so creaky but given we were the only guests it was very quiet. The food was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

We only stayed one night here visiting the charming and scenic Bandipur. The hotel itself is simple and the rooms are quite basic but it has a real sense of history given the age of the building. The owner was very really friendly and the overall service was exceptional. Dinner al fresco in the terrace was a real highlight of our holiday. The food was superb and the romantic ambience unsurpassed. A really great experience.

Had a great time here. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The chef even comes out during the evening meal to ensure you are happy with your meal. Basic room, but very clean and shower was fab. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Guan Ghar is an absolutely stunning hotel, built in traditional Nepali style. The views from our window were unbelievable. Nitu and the staff were super friendly and a lot of fun, and the food was the best we’d tasted in Nepal. Don’t miss the Sikarni! There’s lots to see around Bandipur, its a beautiful village - very clean and calming. Would highly recommend, we’re already planning a return to Guan Ghar next year.

I stayed here for one night. The hotel is located very centrally in the main trafffic-free bazaar area of Bandipur. It is a lovely period property and my room had a mountain view, though the Himalayas were a bit hazy. The room was full of character and period features. There was an electric blanket to keep me warm at night: it is quite cold here in February. I had lunch, dinner and breakfast at the Hotel and the meals were superb. Breakfast was outside on the roof terrace. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

We reached this place on a holi day and sometime around 1PM for our lunch. The restaurant serves traditional Newari food which we all found to be fresh and delicious. We had multiple servings of their daal and saag preparation. The manager is also knowledgeable and will keep you enthralled with stories from the past. This place also has rooms which can be booked for longer stays.

This isn't for everyone but we loved it. Wonderful old Newari house, right on the main street. If you want to know what it was like living in the 19th century, come here. Far from luxurious but charming in the extreme. Room had no window just wooden shutters so a bit nippy at night - but they supplied electric blankets and hot water bottles which kept us plenty warm enough. Very good evening meal and breakfast. Restricted hours for showers (morning and evening) but water was hot. Staff could not have been more helpful, informative or cheerful.

So there might be no TV, or wifi in the rooms, or heating to take off the chill, or a kettle. But the warmth of the hosts and the blankets and hot tea they willingly provided more than made up for the lack of modern day amenities. The hotel is in the pedestrian area of Bandipur and at the heart of the rural life of the Nepalese mountain people. Early starts and ends to the day for the locals support those who are also starting early on treks or visits. Dinner was served over candle light in the wooden beamed main room, while breakfast was served in sunlight on the back terrace. Both reasonable and rustic fare - not fine dining but nor was the price! The host was attentive and helpful, and gave us a warm farewell. Thoroughly recommended as a break from modern day living in a beautiful town.
