Lovely hotel right by the sea on Stromboli. A transfer from the ferry terminal can be pre-arranged with the hotel (€7 one way) which is handy if arriving during a thunderstorm. As the roads on Stromboli are so narrow, all transport is by scooter, golf cart or piaggio. The rooms are a good size and very clean. The staff were very helpful. Good quality buffet breakfast. If you are catching the 7:15 ferry (so leaving before breakfast) they can provide a small “to-go” bag on request.

Beware, beware, beware. Ferry cancelled and operators not sure about early morning ferry in a few days. As one in our party had flights from Palermo, then Rome New York could not risk going. We could cancel, but not get a refund! As a bonus we could rebook one night. So paid 360 euros for one night for two people in a small dark room, well set back from the water. Cover plate for lights fell off, toilet kept running, no room between basin and wall to get to the toilet, water leaked onto floor. and an average breakfast. Seems as if reviews are influenced greatly by the position of the room. We paid for a sea view with terrace. We had a sea view and a terrace but only saw sea no coast and were not close enough to hear the water. The worst value for many years if not a lifetime.

Not to be confused with the hotel in Calabria with the same name, this is the Villaggio Stromboli on the island of Stromboli. I spent a week here with a group on an organised trip. I gather the hotel is popular with group bookings e.g .schools and tour parties. I had pre-arranged a pick up from the port (cost 3 Euros) in one of the hotel's Ape (tuktuk) or golf cart vehicles. Stromboli Village feels surprisingly large when walking in the heat, so this was a good move. The hotel is a veritable maze of passageways, courtyards, white painted buildings, terraces (including many with fine views across the sea to Strombolicchio) and staircases. Even after a week I'm still not sure I have a mental map of the Villaggio! There are lots of flowers in planters and shaded areas on the roof for relaxing (which we used for our group activities). One of the staircases leads down to the hotel's little black sand beach area (watch out for jellyfish close to shore!) The hotel has a bar and restaurant, (though the lowest level covered bar seating area was not as pleasantly atmospheric as the higher terraces) and a separate dining room where breakfast was served (and dinners for groups like mine). I stayed in room 32 (not a sea view room). My initial impression of the room was rather basic and monastic (the crucifix about the iron bedstead didn't help with the latter). While there was a wardrobe, the dresser/desk had the tiniest of drawers (no use for storing clothes), and the fridge wasn't cold enough to be useful. There was a ceiling fan and proper aircon. I didn't watch the TV (attached to the wall literally just below the ceiling!) Bathroom ok not swanky. (A refurb would not seem premature, espeically the shower cubicle). Breakfast was nothing special, although there was at least an egg-boiler gadget (possibly a concession to the German visitors with whom the hotel is popular, as I've first encountered the DIY boiled egg thing in German hotels). Ask the staff to make you a cappucino and it will be better than the one from the push button machine. Orange juice was the usual blood orange coloured carton juice. I tended to stick to the yoghurt and muesli (though you could have croissants, toast, cheese or ham, and a couple of cakey/tarty Italian dessert-at-breakfast options. Our group deal included dinner every day - 2 courses, generally a pasta, risotto or hearty (e.g. bean and pasta) soup, followed by a fish or meat option (fish being the better bet), vegetarian option and sides. The pasta/risotto/soup starters were definitely better than the mains, and a few of us said we'd have just been happy with these. Irritatingly the sides were often brought long before the main dish, so I was left with the dilemma as to whether to eat e.g. my potatoes or spinach as soon as they arrived (while they might be hot) or wait for my fish (by which time they were cold). Catering for special dietary requirements of members of our group (e.g. vegans or those needing gluten free) was a bit hit and miss. The fish encrusted with demerara sugar (the packet of which did indeed advertise its gluten free status, but not its suitability as an alternative to conventional wheat flour for coating a piece of fish before frying) will go down in culinary history for the wrong reasons! I ate once in the open to the public restaurant - the food there was defnitely better than the dining room dinners (pasta a la Norma followed by refreshing lemon granita). A swimming pool is under construction (though I don't know when it is due to be finished). Not really being a sea swimmer, I'd have had a much more enjoyable stay if there had been a pool I could use.

The location is quite nice, with direct access to the sea (small beach, special footwear required because of the rocks). The staff is smiling and efficient. But the rooms are small and quite rudimentary, the bathrooms date back to many years... And the WiFi is so sluggish that you can't function properly, even on the social networks.

We were booked into the Hotel Ossidiana but en route they rung us to say our room was not available due to an electrical issue - and instead they were putting us here. We were obviously upset - but in the end it all worked out brilliantly as we actually preferred this hotel.... What a gorgeous place this is...! It's just a short tuk tuk ride from the port and is in a much quieter part of Stromboli - and so much closer to the Sciara del Fuoco that there is definitely more volcanic action to be seen here. It's hard to describe how lovely this place is, it reminded me of the hotels in Santorini (but without being stupidly overpriced) It's built into the cliffs and consists of beautiful little walkways shaded by the most stunning flowers, with little hidden terraces to be found everywhere. Best of all though was the beautiful and huge roof-top terrace with the most amazing view of the Stromboli eruptions. The small private beach was also very nice. Our room, whilst very small, was clean and had pretty much everything we needed and was right above the sea. It was heaven to be able to lie in bed and listen to the crashing waves. There was a shared terrace in front of these rooms with individual seating and plenty of room for everyone. The shower was powerful but did have a problem with it leaning to one side so it was tricky trying to hold it in place with one hand whilst washing with the other...! The staff were not overly friendly either - these are the only issues we had with this place. The restaurant at the hotel had a good selection of menu choices. The food was ok but nothing special. However the amazing staff and the views and ambiance more than made up for this. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and very highly recommend it.

On arrival at the port we were collected by a golf buggy that whizzed is through tiny narrow alleys and streets to our hotel. The view from which was amazing. The reception staff were very helpful and curtious. The room was lovely and the bedding smelt so fresh. Please tell the cleaner it’s was the best pillow smell of my whole summer- amazing. The breakfast was superb. The recommendation for dinner at the observatory pizzeria was superb and as we ate we had a volcanic fireworks display. Absolutely amazing . Thankyou.

My boyfriend and I stayed at VIllagio for 9 days. We didn't start on the right foot the moment we landed as there was no communication on behalf of the hotel that they couldn't pick us up because there was a marathon. They should have communicated with us or at least have the car at the port so we can put our bags somewhere and have a coffee while we wait. We pushed our suitcases for 40 minutes on cobblestone roads in the heat of the August Sun to our hotel only to be picked up by a grouchy character. The beginning of the awkward relationship with the hotel staff started from check in, as a guest I don't want to feel nor need to have to put so much effort in making everything okay for them. However, towards the end they finally took a liking to me. Not sure if it was because we were almost leaving or they finally caved to my presence.. The room we booked over looked the ocean and lead you to the beach which is run by gnarly surfer kids who rent kayaks and stuff. Check them out. The restaurant attached to the hotel, be warned the old lady with the glasses if she could would burn your eye out. So rude. Everytime we wanted to eat or get some food we would be denied while others were dining. The hotel breakfast is eh, they have an automatic coffee machine that burns the coffee. Asking for scrambled eggs was a delicate dance. Ya'll can do better. and you know it. The rooftop and reading room are chill and cool, the bartender is the best part, he is sweet. Owners if you are reading this, you guys are literally sitting on gold with your property. Ya'll need to up the game, pimp the game and make renovations asap within your internal team and the services you provide. Your hotel can be the it spot on the island. For ya'll considering staying here make sure to communicate you would like water and stuff in your mini fridge or you will have nothing. the nearest grocery store is open sometimes. The pro is the private beach access and reading room and rooftop.

Cannot recommend Hotel Villagio enough. The views, the hospitality, the food...everything was perfect for our family holiday. A must stay when you come to Stromboli. The sight of the volcano in the background is an experience like no other!

Visited here for 2 nights as part of a self-organised trip around the Aeolian Islands. Hotel Villaggio Stromboli is a sprawling complex on the coast and appears to be mainly used for package group holidays. The good: there are terraces to sit quietly and either look out at the sea or back to Stromboli. The grounds are nicely planted and fairly tidy. There is a taxi service to and from the port on request at €3 pp. There is a bar/ristorante onsite, which is separately managed. We enjoyed lunch here with friendly service. The aircon and WiFi were both great. Nice towels and linen. Bed was comfortable. The bad: except for 1 helpful lady, reception staff appeared disinterested. We had no help with baggage when we arrived despite having to negotiate 3 separate flights of steps to reach our room and they carried on a private conversation while we were checking out. Breakfast buffet was disappointing with stale bread on one morning. We were woken early on Sunday morning by staff arguing in what we think was the laundry. The rooms are in dire need of refurbishment as has been mentioned by others. We paid €282 in June for 2 nights. Very poor value for a basic bed and breakfast. We have used small B&Bs for the rest of our trip, experiencing good food and friendly service. This hotel was our only disappointment.
