Today ends our holiday at the Capo Vieste Village. We've been coming for six years now and every time leaving it's hard. But this year even more ... reluctantly we leave the animation guys. Village head Dario, Ilenia and Samy from the mini club and Mattia fitness and tournaments. They took care of my boys and also of us adults with great grace. Tireless and always smiling even under a scorching sun. Thanks guys I hope to see you again next year!

Capo Vieste was immediately one of our choices as it was very close to the sea but with a swimming pool. We chose a brick bungalow with air conditioning and opted for half board, we wanted the best that the village could offer, but basically we wasted (a lot) of money. We arrive on a Saturday mid-morning and after checking in we discover that we would have had the keys to the bungalow not before "a few hours" as it needed to be cleaned, our fault for not having read about the check in at 5pm, but it would have been nice to direct the cleaning staff to our accommodation, in an ideal world.
Really poor welcome, we are advised to take "a tour of the village" in the meantime. So we go to discover the much desired swimming pool and with terrible disappointment we understand how much a good photograph can be worth. Tiny pool only for children, with a maximum water height of 65cm, practically knee-deep.
We then decide to have lunch using half board and begin what will be the most disappointing gastronomic experience we have ever had. Let's talk about the catering service: those who have chosen the guesthouse can order 1 starter, 1 main course, 1 side dish, 1 dessert and half a liter of water from the restaurant menu, fruit is never mentioned. Always from the same menu, every day, without variations for lunch or dinner. Additional children can choose the schnitzel (yes, every day always and only schnitzel). We are also told that one day a week it is possible to order pizza (but not the "paposcia", even if it is basically the exact same block of dough... mysteries of faith). And, always one day a week, it is possible to order one of the grill's offerings (only a few pieces, obviously the Angus steak if you want it you pay for it separately) with caciocavallo.
And let's get to us. The menu is entirely based on fish, if you don't like fish you can only order the famous chicken cutlet intended for children, on the first day we tried some dishes and came across frozen seafood with a worrying consistency, a cuttlefish that had still the innards and a badly cooked sea bass with bloody parts inside. The waiters, although very good and smiling guys, had no idea what they were doing, no one was able to tell us if the fish was fresh or frozen (despite the fact that the menu had an asterisk with the wording "MAY be frozen"). and every time we tried to ask for explanations we always got different answers.
We totally dismiss the fish due to our total inability to cook it and therefore ask about this famous "barbecue evening". The answers have always been different, on the second day they tell us that it is no longer possible to order meat due to the bursar's directives, on the third day they tell us that we can only order hamburgers and no longer caciocavallo but we have to inform them first because "it must be defrosted first ", then the manager arrives and corrects himself "it must be ordered first", practically no one knew if we could finally eat meat. We then manage to get our desired defrosted hamburger and understand that we could also avoid the battle: 1 measly 100gr overcooked and hard as stone. The first ailments began so we survived the last 2 days on bruschetta and plain pasta (and imodium and lactic ferments..), one day the waiter asked me "do you need the menu?" and with hopeful eyes I ask him: "Why, has it changed???", oh no... the dish of the day was the same for all 7 days, no changes. On the last day I dared to ask for a coffee after lunch and they replied: you can't, you have to give up dessert. We had practically given up on the whole lunch (only ordered 3 white orecchiette and an appetizer of cured meats), but they didn't allow us coffee. Without words.

Breakfast: the site mentions a continental breakfast with a list of products, in reality you can go to the bar, say that you are "a pension" and ask for a cappuccino and if you're happy with what's left between croissants and a chocolate cake and a tart , all rigorously frozen. I quote the bartender: "it's hot, if you wait a bit it will thaw". When we started to complain (we were not the only ones given the complete lack of the service purchased) they told us that all we had to do was ask and they would provide the products (biscuits, cereals...). Still speechless.

The bungalow: 3 stone bungalows in the center of the campsite, therefore surrounded by tents and caravans. Dated and battered furnishings, non-existent cleanliness, under the bed we found a hair accessory from some former guest and there was still hair on the floor, stained sheets. The fridge wasn't empty and the stove was greasy. Under the sink the tiny water heater, in fact it's no surprise that we were never able to take hot showers (3 people).
If you pay more than 300 euros a day you should be able to take a hot shower, at least.

The animation? Never seen it but that's fine with us.

Location and sea, on the other hand, 10/10, beach never crowded, position sheltered from the strong winds of the Gargano but always cool, possibility of walking along the entire beach from the Chianca trabucco to that of Scialmarino. Truly a shame, a structure with so much potential but which completely lacks staff management and the concept of hospitality. In essence it is a campsite that dares to disguise itself as a village, but which has absolutely nothing of a village except the prices.

I stayed in the middle 2 weeks of August. Never had a midnight spaghetti dinner, never had a watermelon, never had a color party... extra money spent for the middle week of August was absolutely unjustified. If it hadn't been for the entertainment guys, PEPPE YURI FLAMINIA ENRICO ETC, my holiday would have been a NIGHTMARE.
Poorly maintained and poorly cared for village. Weeds growing everywhere. Non-existent children's play area, which is absurd in a summer village. Small and deep pool, max 70 cm. Dirty beach and 0 assistance for swimmers. Kite surfers and wind surfers who darted around the area in front of the beach and were never called back. Overall absolutely unsatisfactory village. I thank the entertainment guys who cheered up our days with shows, cabaret, aperitif games, tournaments. If it hadn't been for them... Logically, before writing these lines of absolute disappointment, I spoke about it with the management, who always exonerated themselves with very banal excuses.

If it weren't for the very good, somewhat sheltered location at the end of a long bay (hence 2 out of 5 points)...
This campsite was classified as in need of renovation on various portals over 10 years ago, but unfortunately nothing has happened in the meantime, although there is definitely potential.
For years they haven't even managed to put up toilet seats there?!
The restaurant is catastrophic (organized), overpriced and a pizza to pick up can take over an hour. Unfortunately not possible to visit with a group.
The bar is just as incompetent, the same drink is prepared using 3 different methods for 3 orders. The waiting time there is sometimes enormous because 3 employees are already completely overwhelmed with 2 orders.
The staff are consistently friendly but clueless.
There are other ways to do things, as various other campsites with a bar/restaurant nearby show...
But for a pizza to take away, it should actually be enough in Italy!
The bungalows range from catastrophic to okay, depending on which one you get. From moldy and leaky to OK, everything is there. Unfortunately, the quality of the beds and mattresses is consistently poor.
The place used to be a great recommendation, but now the bungalows are overpriced and everything else needs to be overhauled and the service staff completely replaced.

If it weren't for the proximity to the splendid sea, you would have to come here to taste Mario's paposcia. You might stop eating anything else
It has no comparison for taste and crunchiness. When passion for cooking meets imagination

We stayed as a couple for a week at the Capo Vieste campsite. We chose to get a bungalow without a kitchen and do full board. The village is very nice even if there were many small things to take care of and fix, the bungalow was complete with everything, even if a little dated. The beach is beautiful and well kept. The great discovery, in addition to the view, the sea and the forest, was the village restaurant where we had lunch and dinner. Despite the young age of all the restaurant staff and the initial hesitation, they were able to welcome and pamper us. Andrea was able to advise and accompany us on the gastronomic journey, even though the menu was not very vast. Sara always welcomed us with professionalism, but always giving us a smile, making us feel like family. Unlike what was written in other comments by other guests, we ate very well: Kevin, the chef, was very young but really talented, some products were blasted or frozen, yet it seemed like we were always eating very fresh fish. All under the supervision of Gianmarco. Inside the restaurant, there is a grill, which can be used outside of the pension by paying the difference: excellent products and cooked to perfection.
Even though we no longer have dogs, we loved the respect and total freedom that they can enjoy.
Since it was low season, there were only three animators, so we didn't have the opportunity to make the most of the entertainment, but we appreciated and praised the energy and determination of one of the boys, Jonathan known as jhon.
It is still a campsite and not a real village, so you shouldn't expect who knows what, but appreciate and love the simplicity of the place and the slightly wild environment.
We hope to return to you soon.

This year we were there for the 35th time. Why you might ask yourself... why Capo Vieste is like this. We are campers but this year we took a bungalow for a few days so we could set up the caravan with calm. We found the bungalow clean, it was one of those with a kitchen, a fridge turned on and with 2 fresh bottles of water, a very clean bathroom and even toilet paper. We had a good time, then we went back to being campers, this year there was super entertainment, and the restaurant which in previous years had terrible management, from the first of August went back to being the restaurant of "Capo Vieste". On the last evening before leaving we had dinner with our children and grandchildren, everything was excellent, super pizzas and also the fish dishes. Thanks to everyone Patrizia and Mauro Galvan

I have been coming to this campsite for 42 years, I am happy at the campsite except for the entertainment except this year which was fabulous.
If this animation could come the following years it would be something fantastic.
I saw in the other guests a lot of friendliness and happiness towards the entertainment members.
