Had a 4 night stay here while on a golfing trip. Arrived to a very friendly welcome and staff were very pleasant and helpful the whole time. Ate in the restaurants for 2 nights of our stay and the food was very good with plenty of choice from the menu and additional daily specials. The breakfast each morning was very good- cooked to your liking, included full cooked breakfast or porridge (very tasty indeed) or omelette, scrambled eggs with salmon or any choice you wanted really. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There is parking on site. Easy walk to the beach and then onto Slain Castle with its great coastal views. Golf at Cruden Bay Golf Club is a must- fabulous course with again a very friendly welcome.

As soon as my wife and I arrived we felt comfortable and welcome. The hotel has a public bar which is popular with locals; always a good sign of a relaxed and informal atmosphere and just how we like it. The staff were all friendly and genuine and enjoyed chatting in a natural way, unlike the practiced and professional staff in some larger hotels. Breakfast was excellent with something for everyone - my wife is vegetarian - with a lovely variety of cooked alternatives to the traditional fry-up, which was also excellent. Evening meals were very nice too. The hotel is steeped in history and has been host to Bram Stoker amongst others who, it seems, might have drawn inspiration for Dracula's castle from the nearby Slain Castle. I was fascinated by the cormorants drying their wings on a small rock offshore from the castle and wondered if that's where the vampire image originated??? I might take my motorcycle pals there on our next trip. 🏍️

Gorgeous homemade food , got fish and chips, and also a venison burger with smoked cheese. Lovely service. Clean pub, and they allowed dogs. We stayed at Cruden bay in our motor home and it was a 12 min walk from the bay to the pub. Very traditional looking , which is refreshing, not common these days to find an old looking pub inside.

Excellent room with walk in wet room?? Underfloor heating. Dinner was perfect and staff couldn't have been more professional. Felt completely safe in these difficult times. Loved the way they segregated the hotel guests from the general public

Visited here for lunch around October 2020 time. The two young staff members were very friendly and accommodating and when we asked to sit by the fireplace it was no problem at all for them. The food we had was delicious, of good quality, and didn't take long to prepare. Highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be visiting again with friends once things open back up.
