This hotel is built on the grounds where the Kengtung Palace used to be. All that remains now are the palace walls which double up as the perimeter walls of this hotel. I stayed in a deluxe room which was spacious and clean and overlooking the pool. (There were families using the pool both days i was there.) Room decor was a bit dated but it is quite common in Myanmar as are the power outages in the middle of the nights I was there. Wifi signal was also very strong in my room when I was there. Staff were helpful and friendly and could speak decent English. Breakfast was a variety of choices from a menu. I ordered Shan noodles soup and eggs one day so i am assuming guests could order however much they want from the menu. Location is good as it is a very short walk to the lake where there are many food options. Will stay here again if I return to Kengtung. …

I actually changed hotels when I arrived in Keng Tung and ended up staying here. Thomas showed me a couple of rooms and let me pick which was I liked and was very friendly and made me feel instantly at ease. The rooms are spacious and big, spotlessly clean and the location great. I also paid a reasonable price through bookeing with wotif. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is the bathroom which is on the small side.

Arrive at the tiny airport and wonder where you will stay, theeee really only decent place in town is here. This used to be a palace, with beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Clean and simple, fairly large rooms with balconies, best location to go by foot for dinner in town. It was my husband’s birthday and they actually made him a cake and decorated the room with rose petals. Full on breakfast with western food and really good mohinga, etc.

First the positives. The hotel is situated in the centre of the city within walking distance of the main visitor attractions, shops and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and eager to provide good service (but in need of training). The rooms are ok and the wifi is not too bad given the challenges in providing a wifi service in this (relatively) remote location. The hotel has a nice garden. Unfortunately, there are also quite a few negatives. The hotel is completely devoid of any character or personality which is a pity in such a location. The breakfast buffet is poor, partly related to the challenge of sourcing food items in the city. The bathrooms are very poor. Most of the TV channels don't work or are not tuned. The wifi can be very patchy. Beds are rock hard and not very comfortable. No doubt managing a hotel in this location is challenging but, with effective staff training, greater attention to detail and some creative thinking, this hotel could be much better.…

This is a standard 3* hotel of the sort anyone used to travelling around provincial towns in, say, Thailand will be familiar. Concrete block design with some hints towards the culture. Rooms that give you everything you need but full of the design quirks all these hotels seem to have that make you wonder if, for instance, the interior designer had ever taken a shower (or if they'd employed an interior designer at all at the building phase). However, the water was hot, the air conditioner worked, TV has English & Thai movie channels (family holiday) and the amenities are a step above three star. Staff were all very friendly and mostly spoke English or Thai (though I did have an amusing conversation over breakfast as the egg chef refused to use some of the ingredients for me, saying, I think, they were for Myanmar people only). The extra star comes really for the brilliant act of letting all the novices from local temples use the pool in the afternoons - not the thing if you fancy relaxing around the pool but if you want an insight into local culture the sheer joy exhibited by young monks, reminding you that they are just kids too, made for a great time - especially for my 6 y.o. son who had tonnes of friends to play with from a background very different to his own. Oh, and for Nam Ngioew and Oh No Kok Shwe on the Breakfast Buffet - worth a star in its own right!…

I went to Keng Tong and stayed here because our workshop was there and it was simply the best they have. Also we got good experience from Amazing Ngapali. Since Amazing group emphasis on tour, the hotel staff were very efficient in answering questions about private tour and organized hill tribe visits for my husband. It was very good according to him. We paid 40,000 kyat for car and 25$ for your guide from 9 am to 2 pm. He visited 7 villages, 3 of them on foot. It was good price. For our workshop, service was not so efficient. Morning coffee break requested for 9:30 am was not ready. They rushed and served sweet coffee instead of making proper tea and coffee. No tissues paper etc. When I asked hotel staff, answered they were busy with breakfast for hotel guests but breakfast was not so special too. They supposed to assign separate staff for the event since they accepted to do it. House keeping was also not so good. They forgot to fill up complimentary water bottles in our room. They also did not fill up amenities like shower gel and lotion. Totally bad service compared to Ngapali branch. This hotel has four levels. Our room was on third floor. No lift or elevator. Gotta climb up. My colleagues stayed at Golden Globe hotel paid much less and better service. …

Look, the word Amazing would not be used with this hotel in any context if it wasn’t part of it’s name. It is quite a sad looking place, a bit run down, and mostly empty during our stay. We stayed 5 nights - most people stay 1 or 2 at best. Most visitors are Thai. For the price, it is fine - the rooms are big, the beds are very hard, the wifi is incredibly patchy. The staff try hard, but most of the time they clearly have nothing to do so look bored. They were advertising Thai massage in the rooms, so we tried to book a massage for our last day to fill in the morning before our flight. Sorry - it can only be organised for the afternoon. That is dumb. Our bathroom flooded on our first night, and they happily moved us. I think there aren’t many options in town, and I don’t expect perfection in the middle of nowhere - so it was fine. Although it may be considered as the best in Kiang Tong we were disappointed. The whole place looks a bit run down. No elevators!!! The rooms were not very clean. The bathroom very basic. One have to ask reception for hot water and it takes ~30 minutes to warm. No safe in the room. Keep your valuables at a locked drawer in the reception. Breakfast VERY basic. Every evening there’s a strange ceremony - housekeeping would come to the room to spray against mosquitos. Staff was very polite and willing though.

For two of the three nights, we only had luke warm water. I assume they were trying to save money since the hotel was not crowded. On our first night it was hot. Overall the rooms were nice, the bed a pillows great and the staff was friendly. The location is great. For a 3-4 star hotel I would have given it a 4 but the lack on hot water was unacceptable
